“Good Girls” is getting an Arabic version, marking the first international adaptation of the Universal Television show about three moms embarking on a life of crime.
Titled “Lunch Box,” the Arabic “Good Girls” redo features Egyptian stars Ghada Adel, Jamila Awad and Fadwa Abed in the main roles as three women — two sisters and their friend — who, faced with sudden economic hardship, decide to pull an unlikely heist. Just like in the U.S. original, starring Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman and Retta, they presume this will improve their lives, only to find themselves spiraling deeper into the criminal world.
Egyptian actors Ahmed Wafik, Hesham Ismail and rapper-actor Shahin also star.
The 30-episode “Lunch Box” is being produced by NBCUniversal Formats, which is part of Universal International Studios, and Dubai-and Cairo-based production company S Productions. “Lunch Box” marks their second collaboration after previously teaming up on the Arabic adaptation of comedy...

This The Walking Dead review contains spoilers.
The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 22
One of the better things about the final season of The Walking Dead is that once again it feels like a show where all bets are off. Aside from the few people who have spin-off shows in the works, we’re back to what Joe Bob Briggs always called the number one rule of a good drive-in movie: anybody can die at any moment. Granted, that hasn’t actually happened on screen yet, but throughout “Faith” the viewer is never allowed a chance to rest easy, particularly where the prisoner portion of the show is concerned.
It wouldn’t be like this iteration of The Walking Dead to pull the trigger, but the old version of The Walking Dead never got to use this many obscenities in its dialog. Maybe the only rule is there are no rules,...

The identity of snarky gossiper Simon Kelleher’s killer in season one was identified at the conclusion of Peacock’s One of Us is Lying season one. And, mini-spoiler alert, the gang took care of that problem (Rip Jake) but wound up creating a new one. Which, of course, leads us to season two.
The two-minute season two trailer reveals the Murder Club members will be tormented by “Simon Says” and forced into doing his/her bidding or else their involvement in Jake’s “disappearance” will be exposed. The trailer suggests the club should keep their friends close, but their secrets even closer.
Season two is set to premiere on October 20, 2022, however, New York Comic Con attendees were treated to a preview of the first episode along with a Q&a with the show’s stars. “Good Girls” has been canceled after four seasons at NBC, Variety has learned.
The drama series was the last remaining question mark in NBC’s scripted lineup from the 2020-2021 season. The broadcaster also recently axed the dramas “Manifest,” “Debris,” and “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.” Like “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” and “Manifest,” there had been talks about finding “Good Girls” a new home on a streaming platform, but that move ultimately did not work financially.
There are five episodes remaining of “Good Girls” Season 4, with the show airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. Et. In the season, the Secret Service closes in the main characters’ counterfeit ring. Beth (Christina Hendricks) was struggling to carve out her own criminal path separate from Rio (Manny Montana), using her husband’s spa company, Boland Bubbles, as a front. Good Girls’ crime spree is coming to an end.
NBC has canceled the drama starring Christina Hendricks, Retta and Mae Whitman after four seasons. The show will end after the network airs its five remaining episodes between now and July.
The hope was that the network and the studio could find a way to return for one more season to close out the story, but they were unable to make the financials work. A contingency plan to move the show to Netflix also did not pan out.
The series will not be shopped elsewhere by studio Universal Television, despite being a decent draw on Netflix, topping its streaming ratings earlier this year.
It marks 4-for-4 cancellations for NBC bubble shows; the network canceled Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and Manifest earlier this month, while Debris was canceled at the end of May.

This also meant revealing the broadcast TV shows that won’t be making it back for the 2021-2022 season in the process.
But then there are the straggler series, the ones that networks have yet to make a decision on, even though their slates are set. The reasons behind why a show has yet to be renewed or canceled this late in the season vary, with consideration given to how many episodes it has left to air and headaches over contract negotiations.

Jeffrey Waldron was the cinematographer on half of the eight episodes of the Hulu limited series “Little Fires Everywhere,” alongside Trevor Forrest. It was a unique collaboration between the two, as both were brought on from the beginning and worked together to create a seamless look for the show. “We always knew what the next step would be,” Waldron says in an exclusive new interview for Gold Derby. “It wasn’t that we were trying to copy each other’s work from the previous episode because we knew we’d be stepping forward and forward leading up to that explosive finale.” Watch the full video interview above.

The pact helped Good Girls land a Season 2 renewal after a modest midseason debut on NBC last year.
The bingeable caper reportedly got a boost from the first season’s run on Netflix starting in the summer. That did not translate to a linear ratings uptick in Season 2 in the way the CW’s Riverdale shot up in the TV ratings during its sophomore season after a summer of exposure on Netflix. “Good Girls” has been renewed for a third season at NBC.
The drama about three friends who robbed a bank and then got sucked into the world of money laundering stars Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman and Retta.
“We’re so excited to continue following the friendship and adventures of these three incredible women while also exploring relatable issues in both funny and surprising ways,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming at NBC Entertainment. “Congratulations to Jenna Bans, and our amazing writers, cast and crew who give these stories depth and humanity.”
In the second season, the women have had to deal with the consequences of their criminal behavior. Beth (Hendricks) brought the illegal activities into her legitimate place of business, while Ruby (Retta) and her husband Stan (Reno Wilson) were threatened by the FBI, which forced Ruby to choose between her family and friends. And Annie...

Aaron Paul is an Idaho boy at heart. The three-time Emmy winning star of “Breaking Bad” and producer and actor on Nickelodeon’s bawdy, subversive animated series “Bojack Horseman” currently makes his home in Los Angeles, but Paul was born in Emmett, a sleepy city about 30 miles outside of Boise, and escapes to the spud state to unwind and visit with family every chance he gets.
“I’ve lived in California for most of my life,” Paul told a packed crowd gathered at the Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum, Idaho on March 15. “I love California. But Hollywood can be crazy. Coming back to Idaho is like a sanctuary for me.”
Paul’s Coffee Talk was one several standout events at the eighth annual Sun Valley Film Festival, which ran March 13-17 in the snowy playground for skiers and snowboarding aficionados. Paul, whom Variety honored at the fest with the Svff 2019 Pioneer Award,...
