"Colonel" Turner was a colorful pro at self-promotion during the late
barnstorming days of the Depression. He flew with a lion cub and
obtained celebrity endorsement deals in advance of his personal
appearances at air shows and county fairs. He was often seen in
magazines endorsing motor scooters.
