John Tomko is a veteran media and entertainment executive with extensive experience in creating and managing content and negotiating deals. He joined The Cartel in 2020 as a manager/producer to represent writers, directors, and personalities.
John packaged, sold, and produced "The Perfect Date" for Netflix; it's was one of the company's most watched original movies for 2019. He also sold "Sextuplet" by client Mike Glock, starring Marlon Wayons, to Netflix, and packaged and sold the Roland Emmerich feature "Midway". Client Kyle Fried is currently writing a feature for Apple TV+ for Tom Hanks to star and Mark Romanek to direct. John developed and was a producer on the recent Tubi features "Unborn" and "Echo Base".
On the TV side, John's clients include: Deirdre Shaw ("Tiny Beautiful Things"), Vincent Angell ("The Rookie"), Jim Campolongo ("The Sandman"), Barbara Friend ("Fire Country"), Hayes Jackson ("Brew Buddies"), Briana Belser ("Grey's Anatomy", "Ginny & Georgia"), Meagan Daine ("Alex Cross"), and Alec Wells ("Law & Order: Organized Crime"). His clients have created shows in development at HBO, TNT, Warner Bros., Freevee, and Starz, and numerous other clients are currently on the staffs of broadcast, cable, and streaming shows.
John also represents clients in unscripted television, like author and food historian Simon Majumdar. He has served as a consultant to corporations and personalities regarding brand management with an emphasis on social media and cross-platform marketing.
John has also sold several books for publication. "Love in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction", by client Judd Trichter, garnered great reviews and is being developed as a feature film. On the non-fiction side, John packaged and sold the home improvement books "Bee Cottage" and "The Handbuilt Home" as well as the humor/advice book "Life is a 4-Letter Word" by David Levy and the food/travel book "Fed, White, and Blue" by Simon Majumdar.
Previously, John had a successful career in feature film production and development. He developed and produced the move "Falling Down" for Warner Bros and ran Jerry Weintraub Productions where he developed and oversaw three movies for the company including "Ocean's 11".
A graduate of Yale University and Harvard Business School, John lives in Sherman Oaks, CA, with his dog Tucker.
