In the sixth-season episode of "Bones" called "The Finder," which aired in April of 2012, Brennan and Booth (Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz) travel to the Florida Everglades to investigate the death of a maritime museum worker whose remains in the woods lead to the discovery of a fragment of a 17th-century map. The map may lead to sunken treasure (!) and our heroes know that if they find the rest of the map, they'll likely uncover a murderer.
To help with their investigation, the two agents hire an eccentric local named Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), an old friend of Booth's. Walter is a kooky former soldier and head injury sufferer who possesses a bizarre, obsessive talent for locating lost objects. It's implied that Walter may even have semi-clairvoyant powers.

"What if this awesome thing we have going on gets ruined?" Peacock has debuted the official trailer for an original romantic comedy film titled If You Were the Last, directed by Kristian Mercado from a script by Angela Bourassa. This sci-fi rom-com with a simple twist is about two people stuck on a spaceship out in the solar system questioning their relationship and sex and everything else. This initially premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year, but is skipping theaters entirely for the release. Adrift in their broken-down space shuttle with little hope of rescue, two astronauts argue over whether they're better off spending their remaining days as friends or something more. Starring Anthony Mackie as Adam & Zoe Chao as Jane, with a small cast including Natalie Morales, Geoff Stults, Missi Pyle, Sarah Voigt, and Kaleka. Jennifer Garner really wanted the starring role in “The Last Thing He Told Me,” Hello Sunshine’s television adaptation of Laura Dave‘s novel of the same name.
At the series’ Los Angeles premiere on Thursday, Garner told Variety she went after the role of Hannah when original star Julia Roberts dropped out of the project. “I had to just do anything in my power to plead my case,” Garner said.
As a fan of the novel, Garner expressed her excitement for the adaptation starring Roberts: “I thought ‘Oh, she’s going to be amazing!’ I love that story I can’t wait to watch.” But once the role became available, Garner knew she had to pursue the part.
“I just wrote letters to Laura advocating for myself and talking about what the book meant to me and what the role [meant], what I saw in the role and the ways that I felt,...

Jennifer Garner’s star turn came courtesy of “Alias,” the influential J.J. Abrams drama about Sydney Bristow, a grad student moonlighting as a sultry spy. Her agency? A sinister syndicate masquerading as a governmental skunkworks project, as Sydney and her colleagues toil unaware they’ve been working for the bad guys. The pilot opens on Sydney, battered and bloody after being captured and tortured by a rival faction. Then, it hops back in time to show how Sydney’s once-simple life became so treacherous, a journey that reveals to her how little she actually knows about the people closest to her.
Perhaps that’s why, some 21 years later, Garner feels so perfectly cast in Apple TV+’s “The Last Thing He Told Me.” Based on the brisk, best-selling novel by Laura Dave, Garner’s new limited series is a much different kind of thriller than “Alias.” But it too revolves...

Hooray! A romantic comedy that revives the screwball formula where two people talk themselves silly — and we only had to go to the end of the solar system to make it happen. Adam (Anthony Mackie) and Jane (Zoë Chao) are the sole surviving astronauts on a ship with no navigation and no communication system able to transmit their grievances to their NASA superiors who presumably think them dead. How long have they been adrift? Three years. How literal is the title “If You Were the Last”? Very.
But Kristian Mercado, making his narrative debut after directing a string of stand-up specials, and Angela Bourassa, who wrote the Black List-hailed screenplay, haven’t made a film about settling for the nearest sexual organ. Instead, the swooning comes from watching these platonic shipmates debate why they should, and shouldn’t, settle — only to realize that their ability to have these frank...

‘If You Were the Last’ Review: Zoë Chao and Anthony Mackie Are the Cutest Rom-Com Couple of the Year
“If You Were the Last” officially marks lead star Zoë Chao’s Hollywood takeover. After stealing scenes in Netflix’s return-to-form rom-com “Your Place or Mine” and being a welcome addition to “Party Down” Season 3, Chao leads the indie sci-fi romantic comedy opposite Anthony Mackie. The two leads’ already formidable charisma goes off the charts when they are put side by side. The chemistry? It’s out of this world.
Chao plays astronaut captain Jane, who is trapped in an adrift spaceship with her lieutenant, scientist Adam (Mackie). Three years into a NASA mission, and Jane and Adam are lost, alone with each other, and counting down the days until their inevitable starvation. The film is set in the not-so-distant future where Matt Damon is still around (and still a go-to celebrity to name check), adding a charming familiarity to a film still rooted in the present. “Make sure you put the things that will get me canceled right up in the headline,” Ike Barinholtz jokes in early February as I leave the Los Angeles home he shares with his wife and three daughters.
We’ve just spent the past hour-plus talking about everything from casting to cancel culture in the guest house he’s converted into his office. The space is an homage to comedy, though mixed in with his books and posters sits his latest, crowning achievement: the trophy he has recently won as a contestant on Celebrity Jeopardy! As Barinholtz explains, he keeps it just behind his desk chair so it’s firmly in view whenever he’s on Zoom. “That way if someone disagrees with me, I can just swing around and tap it,” he says with a big, goofy laugh.

In its second episode, “Guilty Party” attempts to pull a neat little meta trick of admitting its own wrongs through the mouth of a skeptical character. As disgraced journalist Beth (Kate Beckinsale) pitches a story about Toni (Jules Latimer), a young Black mother serving a life sentence for a crime she insists she didn’t commit, Beth’s young boss Amber (Madeleine Arthur) cocks a skeptical eyebrow. “I don’t know,” Amber says. “It sounds a bit ‘white savior-y’ to me.” Amber might be wary of any story that can’t be written in listicle format, but her instincts about Beth, at least, are spot on. There are two things that die-hard Cowboy Bebop fans absolutely need from Netflix’s live-action reboot: a Corgi, and music by Yoko Kanno.
The lively free-jazz score from Kanno was an essential part of the original anime series, and Netflix smartly enlisted Kanno to compose new music for the reboot — including a new opening title sequence, which you can watch above. (The streamer unveiled the new titles as part of its “Tudum” global fan event on Saturday.)
