Exclusive: Netflix has struck a big deal for the Colin Firth World War II movie Operation Mincemeat, we can reveal.
The streamer has pre-bought North America and Latin America rights for around $15 million from The King’s Speech producer See-Saw and Cohen Media Group after seeing footage in recent days.
Shakespeare In Love and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel filmmaker John Madden directed the movie, which stars Oscar winner Firth alongside Succession star Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald, Penelope Wilton, Jason Isaacs, Johnny Flynn, Simon Russell Beale, Hattie Morahan, Mark Gatiss and Paul Ritter.
It has been 10 years since See-Saw and Firth teamed on multi-Oscar-winner The King’s Speech, and we hear this could be another potential awards pic. Set in 1943 when the Allies were determined to break Hitler’s grip on occupied Europe, the remarkable true story follows intelligence officers Ewen Montagu (Firth) and Charles Cholmondeley (Macfadyen) who conjure an inspired and...

“Nasty Enough To Say Yes!”
Betty (Angel, For Your Thighs Only) is your typical innocent Catholic schoolgirl. One day after studying her bible under the supervision of Sister Rose (Lisa De Leeuw, Pink Champagne) with her party loving friend Catherine (Ginger Lynne, Lust in the Fast Lane), she doses off (religion does that to you.) and finds herself in a world filled with lust, debauchery and some very questionable individuals indeed. Her adventures begin with her watching Catherine get down and dirty with an older guy (Jamie Gillis, Corruption) who thankfully has better taste in women than he does clothes! After the free show, Catherine promises her much more and instantly delivers by sending her to a brothel ran by Madame Rose (De Leeuw again). She’s treated once again to a free show, but finds herself the subject of a bidding war between Senator Bribe (Eric Edwards, Laura’s...

Q: So the news recently broke that Jonathan Frakes, Commander Riker himself, had pitched a new Star Trek TV series to CBS/Paramount, but it was rejected. Frakes has spoken out before about the importance of adding gay characters to the Star Trek universe. Do you know if his proposed series included any gay characters? – Matt, Des Moines, Ia
A: Frakes told Ugo.com: “I had a Star Trek that I developed for TV, and we were told in no uncertain terms that they said no to a Bryan Singer television Star Trek, they said no to a William Shatner television Star Trek. They feel at CBS Paramount that they don’t want to make the same mistake that’s been made before, which was watering down the...

In the Making Of interview to the right, Twilight franchise producer Wyck Godfrey briefly discusses the plans to turn the fourth novel in Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" franchise into a feature film. He says: We are about to embark on that. Getting New Moon and Eclipse finished in the amount of time we did, given that Twilight came out just last year has kind of taken all of our efforts. There's every intention of making Breaking Dawn and that'll begin November 21, figuring out the stage and what the time schedule is for it. Considering The Twilight Saga: New Moon was just released and is already breaking records having amassed $230 million domestically and nearly $474 million worldwide in just ten days you may be thinking this is an absolute no-brainer. So why is this a story that has hit every website today and why hasn't Summit already announced The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn?...

While the idea that The Twilight Saga: Beaking Dawn would be split into two movies is not a new idea by any stretch of the imagination, it does have a certain relevance now. After two successful week’s dominating the worldwide box office, The Twilight Saga: New Moon is making the execs at Summit Entertainmentvery rich indeed, and of course with the exception of that faux statement issued several months ago, an announcement has still to be made over the fate of the fourth story in the series.
According to Variety, Summit are currently looking at this very issue, and given the success of part 2 who can blame them for trying to milk a fifth film out of this series?
Summit execs would not comment, but multiple sources said that the film company wants to go the two-film route, which means re-opening negotiations and getting approval from the author. It...
