Paradigm has hired Kyle Jensen as a Literary Content Agent and Jamie Kaye-Phillips as a Theatre Literary Content Agent, upping Matthew Nutty from Coordinator to Agent in the Talent department.
Additionally, Napoli Management Group, a division of Paradigm Media Entertainment, has tapped Brian Neal as an agent. A 23-year veteran of the television news industry, he’ll in his new role rep all levels of on-air talent in the national broadcast news space.
Jensen and Nutty will be based out of the agency’s Los Angeles office, with Kaye-Phillips working out of New York. Where Neal will be based is not yet clear.
The hirings follow December’s announcement that Todd Eisner, a 30-year veteran talent agent, had joined Paradigm from the now-folded A3. Over the past year, Paradigm has been staffing up with the hires of Chris Till and Neil A. Cohen, as well as internal promotions, having elevated 14 agents to Partner.

Josh Hartnett, once a teen sensation with films like The Virgin Suicides and Pearl Harbor under his belt, is making waves again. This time, he’s collaborating with acclaimed director M. Night Shyamalan. They’re currently working on a project in Canada, a film that’s been intriguingly described as a “psychological thriller set at a concert.”
Interestingly, the film was first titled Trap, but now it’s shooting under the temporary name Good Grades. While the final title remains a mystery, the anticipation is building. Shyamalan is not just directing; he’s also wearing the producer’s hat and funding the entire venture. It’s a bold move, especially since they’re filming amidst an ongoing actors’ strike. But Shyamalan, known for his dedication, has secured an agreement from SAG-AFTRA to proceed.

Domestic distributor Bleecker Street is in negotiations to acquire rights to “Fackham Hall,” a British spoof of “Downton Abbey” and other costume dramas. Sales outfit The Veterans is pre-selling international territories. And as international buyers face a potential drought of Hollywood product due to strikes, the market is offering other promising presale titles.
WME Independent is pre-selling James Madigan’s “The Beast,” with Samuel L. Jackson in negotiations to star. He’ll play a U.S. president who fights a coup in his battle-ready, bomb-proof limousine with grenades and shotguns. As he rides through a violent wasteland of chaos and unrelenting carnage, he must learn to control The Beast — and the monster inside himself — to save his life, the life of a Secret Service agent (Joel Kinnaman of “Suicide Squad” fame) and his country. Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to star as the President of the United States alongside Joel Kinnaman in independent action thriller “The Beast” from WME Independent, according to an insider with knowledge of the project.
The film, which has an Interim Agreement from SAG-AFTRA, was packaged pre-strike and is currently in preproduction.
The project centers on the impenetrable presidential limousine — nicknamed “The Beast” by the Secret Service. Stocked with grenades, rigged with shotguns, armor-plated, bullet- and bomb-proof and hermetically sealed, the Beast is a grinding defensive titan and no match for any enemy vehicle.
When a militia of unidentified hostiles coordinates a devastating coup against the U.S. presidency, the president (Jackson) uncovers the extent of the Beast’s highly classified offensive capabilities, too. Separated from his wife, the one thing tethering him to his humanity as he tears through a violent wasteland of chaos and carnage, the president...

It’s been a week (ish) since I hopped behind the wheel of a Porsche for the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Porsche Driving Experience. The day was beyond exciting. And it was a thrilling and inventive way to promote the franchise sequel. Starring Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Velez, and Dean Scott Vazquez. It also features an impressive cast of actors giving voice to the actual Transformers themselves. The talent includes Peter Cullen, Ron Perlman, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, and a scene-stealing Pete Davidson.
At the event, we spoke with the film’s director, Steven Caple Jr., and second unit director, James Madigan. While at an event at the Porsche Driving Experience, they discussed the car’s connection with the film. James and Steven also talked about the casting of Pete Davidson and matching him with the vehicle in question. The two also opened up about just how...

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, directed by Steven Caple Jr, is about to hit home video. The film stars Anthony Ramos, Luna Lauren Velez, Dominique Fishback, and a hilarious voice performance from Pete Davidson as Mirage. And since Mirage usually appears as a Porsche, the publicity team had something special in store for its video release. In honor of the film, several journalists made their way to the Porsche Driving Experience in Carson, California. We drove the Porsche 911 and the 718 Cayman and spoke with the film’s director, Mr. Caple Jr, and second unit director, James Madigan. It was quite a rush, and that’s a massive understatement.
I’ve never driven a Porsche in my entire life. And the second we arrived, we had the fantastic opportunity to get behind the wheel of these two beauties. Firstly, taking off in a car and going zero to sixty is more than a little thrilling.

Exclusive: A reboot of the 1992 hit Steven Seagal action movie Under Siege is underway at Warner Bros. with Timo Tjahjanto directing and Umair Aleem writing. The duo, I hear, collaborated and developed the pitch together with the movie being planned to stream on HBO Max.
There’s no word yet if Seagal will reprise his role as Casey Ryback, the ex-Navy Seal turned cook who was the only person in that movie to stop a group of terrorists from taking control of a U.S. battleship. The movie, directed by Andrew Davis, grossed over $156M WW when it was released and spawned a 1995 sequel Under Siege 2: Dark Territory which minted over $104M-plus WW. Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey starred in the first movie.

Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo have made a deal with MGM to oversee a slate of new film projects the studio is developing, and it looks like many of them will be remakes.
Through their production company Agbo, they will co-develop, co-produce, and co-finance these upcoming projects. The first project that they will tackle is a reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair with Michael B. Jordan. According to Deadline, the Russo Bros. could actually end up directing this movie, which would be cool. Matthew Michael Carnahan has been haired to write a new draft of the script.
Agbo will also be developing a hybrid live action/animation version of The Rats of Nimh, which is based on the wonderful book series by author Robert C. O’Brien. Don Bluth made an animated film adaption of this story back 1982. This new version will be directed by James Madigan, a...

Exclusive: MGM has made an inventive deal with Agbo Films partners Joe & Anthony Russo that will see the Avengers: Endgame helmers essentially become the spiritual creative architects of some of the iconic properties in the MGM library. They’ve made a multi-film non-exclusive creative partnership to co-develop, co-produce and co-finance a slate of projects.
The deal can extend to projects originated by Agbo, but the driving force behind this is that they will creatively steer the refurbishment of the classic library titles. The first film projects to be produced through the partnership includes a re-imagining of The Thomas Crown Affair, which long has had Michael B. Jordan attached to star and produce through his Outlier Society banner. That one could end up directed by the brothers, who love the Steve McQueen-Faye Dunaway original. The publication reports that James Madigan will make his directorial debut helming the film, which is being called simply The Rats Of Nimh. Madigan is a veteran of visual effects departments, having clocked time on Iron Man 2. He also has served as second unit director on projects.
This new take on Robert C. O’Brien’s book will combine live action and animation. Ice Age 5’s Michael Berg is writing the project, which may be the start of a franchise if all goes as MGM planned.

A new big screen adaption of the classic Robert C. O’Brien children’s book Mrs. Frisby & The Rats of Nimh has been in development at various studios since 2009. In 2015 the rights landed at MGM studios, and they've been developing it as a live-action and CG-animated hybrid film. They now have a director on board to take the film into production.
The studio hired James Madigan to the direct the film from a script written by Michael Berg. This will be Madigan's first time directing a film. So what did he do before he landed this big directing gig? He was a VFX supervisor and a second unit director. He's worked on films such as Iron Man 2, The Da Vinci Code, HBO's Rome, and most recently Jason Statham's Meg. I'm not sure how this guy landed a major directing gig like this, but we'll soon see if he's got a talent for it.

A new film version of Mrs. Brisby and the Rats of Nimh is on the way, but with a bit of a twist...
Don Bluth's The Secret Of Nimh is one of those classic animated movies that gave some sensitive children of the 1980s nightmares. Based on the also kind of bleak children's book by Robert C. O'Brien, Mrs Brisby And The Rats of Nimh, the film version might be the high point of Don Bluth's impressive animated output. It's worth a look if you haven't seen it.
So of course there's a remake on the way from MGM, apparently now known as The Rats Of Nimh, with James Madigan making his directorial debut, according to Variety. The approach here will be a live action/CGI hybrid film.

After viewing the bang-bang antics of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," it made perfect sense that Jon Chu became the director. His dance experience with "Step Up 2: The Streets" and "Step Up 3D" provided the perfect training for the choreographed action he devised for the "G.I. Joe" sequel starring newcomers Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock and Bruce Willis as the original Joe. The stealthy overthrow of Cobra after the Joes have been decimated and disgraced involves a series of escapades that are as remarkable for their balletic brilliance as their explosive firepower. And "Retaliation" required its own VFX Joes for support from Digital Domain, Industrial Light & Magic and Method Studios (under the overall supervision of James Madigan). But other than the obvious CG explosions and a brief bit of creepy morphing, the result is invisible VFX at its most proficient. Dd (supervised by Thad Beier) handled several key sequences, including an exploding motorcycle by baddie.

With the Jon M. Chu-directed G.I. Madigan, whose projects have ranged from The Da Vinci Code to Iron Man 2 to the upcoming Red 2 , describes the on-screen level of reality he and the film's crew worked to attain, likening the approach for the big screen sequel to that of Christopher Nolan's take on the Batman franchise. The film itself stars Dwayne Johnson, D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum and Bruce...
