There will be no Season 2 for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Netflix confirmed the cancellation Monday of Jim Henson’s epic fantasy adventure series — a prequel to the original 1982 film — just hours after the series’ win this weekend at the Creative Arts Emmys for Outstanding Children’s Program.
“We can confirm that there will not be an additional season of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” said Lisa Henson, executive producer. “We know fans are eager to learn how this chapter of The Dark Crystal saga concludes and we’ll look for ways to tell that story in the future. Our company has a legacy of creating rich and complex worlds that require technical innovation, artistic excellence, and masterful storytelling. Our history also includes productions that are enduring, often finding and growing their audience over time and proving again and again that fantasy and science fiction genres reflect eternal...

The final season of Sbs’s The Family Law, the first series of ABC’s The Heights and the Sbs miniseries The Hunting have won the 10th annual Equity Ensemble Awards.
The actors who starred in these programs were voted the most outstanding Australian small screen ensembles in their respective categories by the Meaa Equity National Performers’ Committee (Npc).
Equity president Chloe Dallimore, who was among the 33 Npc members who selected this year’s finalists and winners, said: “I can’t think of a better way to spend lockdown than re-watching the incredible small screen performances of the last 12 months. What phenomenal talent we have in this country, both in front and behind the camera.
“It emphasised what’s at stake if we don’t continue to vigorously defend our local content quotas, and why we must continue to remind our government how the arts contribute to our Australian cultural identity.

Five anchorwomen at NY1, New York City’s premier 24-hour news channel, have filed an age- and gender-discrimination lawsuit against channel operator Charter Communications, claiming they all have been “repeatedly marginalized and relegated to second-class status” as younger women and men have moved forward.
“Women on TV should accurately reflect women in society and be celebrated at every age, not treated like decoration that can be disposed and replaced with a newer version,” anchors Roma Torre, Kristen Shaughnessy, Jeanine Ramirez, Vivian Lee and Amanda Farinacci said in a statement. “We have poured our hearts and souls into our work at NY1, but in the end we have been left excluded, marginalized and vulnerable. We are fighting for ourselves and all other women who face this same struggle on a daily basis, and we hope to send a clear message to all news media across the country that this must change.

Five veteran female anchors and correspondents at NY1, the local-news outlet that appears on cable systems owned by Charter Communications in New York City, filed a suit Wednesday alleging they have been “repeatedly marginalized and relegated to second-class status” since Charter took over the outlet’s operations after acquiring the assets of the former Time Warner Cable.
The five plaintiffs – Roma Torre, 61, who has worked at NY1 for 27 years; Kristen Shaughnessy, 50, a 24-year veteran; Jeanine Ramirez, 49, a 23-year employee; Vivian Lee, 44, who has worked at NY1 for 11 years; and Amanda Farinacci, 40, who has been with NY1 for 19 years – alleged complaints they have made to human resources “have been ignored, dismissed and disregarded.” They filed a suit in U.S. District Court for Southern District of New York that seeks damages and injunctive relief.
In a statement, Charter dismissed the claims. “We take these allegations seriously and as we complete our thorough review,...

Netflix has dropped the first teaser for “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” and now we’re even more terrified of the Jim Henson-created fantasy world Thra than we were when watching the original 1982 film.
The 10-episode prequel series, set to launch on the streaming service Aug. 30, stars Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel, as three Gelfling heroes — Rian, Brea and Deet, respectively — who learn of a villainous force called The Darkening in the preview video above.
Here’s the official description for “Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” per Netflix: Based on “The Dark Crystal,” Jim Henson’s groundbreaking 1982 feature film, “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” tells a new epic story, set many years before the events of the movie, and realized using classic puppetry with cutting edge visual effects. The world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power.
