We’re pretty worried about the news that Tristan Wilds will be missing four episodes of 90210 because he is suffering from a “serious illness,” according to E! Online. We don’t know what he’s sick with, but the site says his character Dixon’s absence will be explained by another music tour.
The 22-year-old actor probably deserves a little break too. Since he got his start in the Ryan Gosling indie Half Nelson, he’s been working pretty steadily. He played Michael Lee on The Wire and then Zach on The Secret Life of Bees before moving on to his soapier gig on 90120. In December, he returned to the big screen as a Tuskegee Airman in Red Tails.
We thought he — and his fans — could probably use some cheering up while he lies low, so here are 10 pics of Tristan’s dazzling smiles.

They are the shock troops in the city's battle against endemic street violence – peacemakers who once lived by the gun. As a documentary on their work reaches cinemas, we visit Chicago to see the campaigners in action
On the stoop of a house on a dilapidated block in Englewood, the south side Chicago neighbourhood that tops the city's statistics for murder, drug addiction, teen pregnancy and most of other indices of social dysfunction, are eight young African-American men and two or three women. It's an oven-hot summer afternoon and the group is kicking back, drinking, shouting and laughing.
"I don't like crowd scenes," says Shango, a member of the city's anti-violence project, CeaseFire, as we pull up outside. He explains that such gatherings increase the chances of becoming a victim of a drive-by shooting.

Ani-Com, Hong Kong’s fair for comics, animation, games and toys, runs through Tuesday and is expected to attract some 680,000 people.
Ani-Com is known for its valuable special collector’s editions, which turn the opening minutes of the fair into a race to scoop up as many as possible. Fanboys grumbled that the front was taken up by profiteers who didn’t even know what they were in line for.

Tristan Wilds has opened up about his first kissing experience. When met by Zap2It on the set of The CW's "90210", the actor playing Dixon Wilson on the series recalled his first lip-lock with the opposite sex happened around sixth or seventh grade and was an aggressive one.
The 21-year-old didn't name the first girl he ever kissed, but did shared, "It was in my old neighborhood - right on the balcony of my projects." He went on to offer details, dishing, "And I think we were playing skelly. For some reason, things got crazy, she slammed me against the wall and kissed me. I've never been the same since."
When the topic turned to any other career he would choose to do, Tristan said he would probably be a writer. The "Half Nelson" actor continued, "I love to write and singing, too. Singing, writing, producing. There's a lot of...

They’re making movies based on bestsellers, videogames and 1970s toys. Fight choreographers are using everything from wushu to krav maga to Brazilian Jui Jitsu. But the search never stops. It’s always about what’s next, what’s new. Here are my 10 picks for action auteurs to take a gander at.
1. Puroresu: Japanese pro wrestling. Have you seen this stuff? It’s nuts. Check out this video, or this one, and this one. American wrestlers here know all about it and respect their Japanese counterparts. Many travel to Japan to test their ski...

Jeff Steele on Huffington Post wrote this amazing article about a new trend in film financing using the internet. He does a terrific job covering the in’s and out’s of Tribe Financing. It’s a brave new tactic that promises to change who and what gets independently financed in the near future. In reality internet film financing is really hampered compared to other forms of internet funding. In 2008, then candidate Barack Obama rocked the political landscape with a grass-roots internet funded campaign that seemed like it could fund the next "Avatar" </i...

Tristan Wilds is just 20 years old, and he's already amassed a mighty impressive stack of credits. He played Michael Lee on HBO's acclaimed series The Wire (TV), appeared in music videos for the likes of Jay-z, Wale, and Alicia Keys, and acted in such films as Half Nelson (2006) and The Secret Life of Bees (2008). Right now, he co-stars as Dixon Wilson -- adopted brother of Annie (Shenae Grimes) -- on the CW's 90210 (TV), and recently wrapped production on the upcoming, George Lucas-produced Tuskegee Airmen drama Red Tails. Over on 90210 (TV), which will conclude its second season on May 18, Dixon has been romancing two lovely ladies, Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Sasha (Mekia Cox). We recently caught up with Wilds for an exlusive interview in which he discussed events on 90210 (TV), acknowledged that lots of people still recognize him from The Wire (TV), and previewed Red Tails (2010). What were your expectations...

So how’d those NFL drafts/script rewrites go?
Depending on the team you follow, this week you’re either celebrating a soon-to-be Super Bowl berth or calling for your general manager’s head.
For the most part the draft produced feelings of hope bordering on triumphalism. Like a screenwriter whose project is close to getting the greenlight, teams in the bottom half of the draft just need a few more pieces (so they think) to close the deal.
Dallas fans have to be euphoric to add the draft’s top receiving prospect. There’s plenty of joy in New ...

It’s the week of the NFL draft, and if football teams were screenplays, 31 of them would be looking for a rewrite. The exception is the New Orleans Saints. They’re hoping for a sequel.
Los Angeles sort of has it easy when it comes to football. Since the Rams and the Raiders left town, the city has had to rely on college ball to satisfy its pigskin fix. But it isn’t the same.
If the NFL is like the movies, then college football is like a long-running TV show. The cast is constantly changing. It might be awesome or crappy compared to seasons past, but it’...

Now that Michael Lewis’ book "The Blind Side" has been turned into an Oscar-winning hit movie, there’s sure to be a lot of interest in his new book "The Big Short." But adapting this bestseller about the 2007-08 financial meltdown may be a tough sell.
It’s not just that many people still have jangled nerves from that event, but because it hits home in a very uncomfortable way. Lewis uncovered not a conspiracy of crooks but the systematic failure of Wall Street’s capitalist system. And it makes you wonder about all American businesses.

So Tiger Woods finally gave a press conference where he’s actually allowed reporters to … gasp … ask questions that weren’t screened beforehand by Tiger Woods Inc.
It went off without any noticeable hitches for Eldrick Tont. The press corps decided to give him a break I guess. They didn’t rake him over the coals about what really happened with his car, his wife and the golf club. If the beat reporters want to cut him some slack, that’s their prerogative and I’m not going to tell them how to do their job.
What I don’t buy ...
