John Duke Kisch

Born 1954 - Graduate of Bard college in 1976. New York commercial
photographer in the 1970s-1980s concentrated on fashion, music, film
and television. In 1980, created the Separate Cinema Archive, a museum
collection of historic African American film posters. In 1990, Farrar,
Straus and Giroux, published a book about his collection; "Separate
Cinema: 50 Years of Black Cast Posters" that pays tribute to the Black
presence in American filmmaking. Today, The Separate Cinema Archive is
an institution. It is the most extensive private holdings of African
American film memorabilia in the world and provides traveling exhibits
for museums, film festivals and prestigious institutions
worldwide.
