Astonishing Tales of Terror: Rocktapussy! opens in 1957 when a strange opening in the wall of a mine attracts the attention of a trio of miners. They crawl through to explore but find way more than they expected. The only survivor closes the opening with some convenient dynamite.
In the present Hunter Hazelton has broken a story of corruption in city hall. She had to go undercover as a stripper to do it, which doesn’t seem to have gone over well with her colleagues. Or her father for that matter. “Next time you go undercover, can you be a bit more covered?”
However when a technology demonstration at that same mine awakens the creature we saw in the prologue, what she’s wearing will be the least of her worries,...

Astonishing Tales of Terror: Rocktapussy! is a plucky, provocative, action-horror hybrid that combines the classic fun of a tomb raiding adventure with the cosmic horror of a creature feature.
“Astonishing Tales of Terror: Rocktapussy! follows a group of everyday heroes after they unwittingly awaken an ancient monster.
“When intrepid reporter Hunter Hazelton (Brigitte Kingsley) bumps into down-on-his-luck miner Carey Barnes (Landy Cannon), the duo join a rag-tag bunch of survivors as they attempt to fend off mind-controlled zombies, possessed medieval knights, and a gigantic demonic demigod: The Rocktapus!”

A reminder that the couple have a naughty side. There is a gallery of images below, including a fun throwback sleeve design for the upcoming release. There will be a trailer coming soon. Keep...

Originally showcasing novels, fantasy and film/television and related popular arts, the convention has expanded over the years to include a larger range of pop culture elements, such as horror, anime, manga, animation, toys, collectible card games, video games and web entertainment.

Director/writer: Andrew Cymek.
Cast: William B. Davis, John Rhys-Davies, Mercedes McNab, and Brigitte Kingsley.
Medium Raw aka Medium Raw: Night of the Wolf is a Canadian shot horror film. This feature was shown on television in 2010, with Anchor Bay Entertainment set to release this title on DVD August 16th. The film retells the ancient German legend of Little Red Riding Hood with a twist. Horror is always great for twist endings. Actor John Rhys-Davies is under utilized in his role and the updating of this children's tale is enhanced by the costume department. As well, Medium Raw introduces not one villain, but four. This is a slow building horror title, with some interesting action sequences in the final scenes.
This is the second film which has offed actor John Rhys-Davies in the first quarter of the film. The other film was Ferocious Planet (2011) and here Rhys-Davies plays Elliot Carbon.

I had the pleasure of attending the premiere for Medium Raw last night and really enjoyed the flick. I’ll be honest, it has a few corny moments but it’s the villains in this piece that make it so worthwhile.

Dark Rising thinks it’s really funny. It’s not. Not so much a horror/comedy but a fantasy-esque/comedy with a monster, the film drowns itself in a lot of contorted wacky faces, broad shoulder shrugs, silly runs and musical cues that only emphasize how flat the punchlines have fallen.
The movie follows Jason (Landy Cannon), who has just been dumped by his high-school sweetheart Jasmine (Vanessa James) after having dated her forever. Jason has a plan, though: He and his jerky best friend Ricky (played by Jay Reso, a.k.a. WWE wrestler Christian) are going camping with Jasmine and her friends Renee (Julia Schneider) and Marlene (Haley Shannon); along the way, he can win her back. The problem is that Jasmine and Marlene are now more than just friends, and although Jason has dreamy hair, there’s no way he can contend with gratuitous lesbianism. Meanwhile, Renee...

As Canada is becoming one of the prime locations for shooting films, due to the cheaper costs and tax incentives, hundreds of films are shot there yearly. A recent film that is beginning to build a buzz stateside is the sci-fi horror-fest, Dark Rising from director Andrew Cymek. Just-released on DVD from E1 Entertainment, the Canadian-based film has been nominated for six Canadian Comedy Awards. Clearly Fangorians you must think, “then what the hell is this movie doing on Fango’s review boards!” Well I am here to express to you just that.
The premise, or what seems as a moody “adult industry” film, centers around Jason Parks, who is played by the exuberant Landy Cannon. Jason is still in love with his ex-fiancé, who is now a lesbian and wants nothing to do with him. Jason’s pal, Ricky, played by the WWE and Tna star Jason “Christian Cage” Reso,...

Ah, to aspire to B-movie status and nothing more. Gone are the expectations of special effects, production values or even really having a plot. On the other hand, it leaves plenty of room for a movie full of comical interactions and out-of-this world setups that audiences just go along with. Dark Rising takes all these B-movie benefits and just piles on the cleavage, the fantastic plots and men in demon costumes. Lesbians? Yup. Scantily clad babes? Uh huh. Nonsensical greatness? A little bit of that too.
Jason (Landy Cannon) is just another one of those sad sack guys who can’t accept that his relationship with a girl has ended. He mopes around and pines non-stop about how great things were while his friend Ricky (Jason Reso) tries to convince him otherwise.
Meanwhile, Jasmine (Vanessa James), Jason’s ex-girlfriend, is busy buying a book on witchcraft with her two friends...

Do you like your Canuck-produced Army of Darkness style comedies loaded with puerile sex jokes, lesbian make-out sessions, and topped off with a heaping slab of Canadian bacon by way of a hammy performance by a WWE wrestler? If so, we have good news for you: Dark Rising is coming to DVD this August.
"A broken heart, a battle ax, a demon, and a lesbian ex-fiancee... Jason Parks' life goes from bad to worse as a series of supernatural events turn his dream of reconciling with his ex Jasmine into a portal-seeking, demon-hunting nightmare. Featuring Jason "Christian Cage" Reso of the WWE and Tna Wrestling. Also starring Landy Cannon, Brigitte Kingsley, and Julia Schneider."
If you live in Canada, filmmaker Andrew Cymek's Dark Rising is already available at your local DVD shop and has been for months. That's how I was able to review it last September. Those...
