The name Henson is one that the world recognizes when it comes to creating magic. Brian Henson carries on what his father started by doing just that. Over the years, The Creature Shop (which we recently visited) has designed and brought to life some of the most beautiful and ingenious creations that audiences have ever seen.
Brian Henson grew up making worlds like those in Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and more, and he would be one of the keys in creating the boundary-breaking now iconic series Farscape 25 years ago. Since then, The Creature Shop has gone on to return to the world of The Dark Crystal with The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, bringing to life a slightly more sinister batch of creatures with The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell and some Very sinister ones with Five Nights at Freddy’s.

When Bob Dylan’s Time Out of Mind hit shelves on Sept. 30, 1997, it was hailed by fans and critics as his best work in decades. The Daniel Lanois-produced LP won a Grammy for Album of the Year, kickstarted an incredible period of renewed vitality for Dylan, and forever silenced any doubters who felt he’d never recapture the magic of his early years. Just about the only person unhappy with the album was Bob Dylan himself.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie is a cult classic amongst ‘90s pop culture enthusiasts and Power Rangers fans. Even with its fairly standard ‘90s adventure movie plot, wherein the Rangers lose their powers and have to go on a mystical quest to gain new ones, the film still sticks in the mind. Main baddie Ivan Ooze chews all the scenery, there are some impressive fight scenes, and the Rangers save the day by kneeing a monster in the balls. Yes the CG is dated, the story doesn’t hold up to some of the better episodes of the show, and it’s not in continuity with the series but if you want to have a movie night with friends of a certain age, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie is a solid watch.
While many love the film exactly as it is, it didn’t go from script to screen completely unchanged.

Over the decades, a diverse array of musicians sat in with the Grateful Dead — everyone from Bob Dylan and Neil Young to Ornette Coleman and Daryl Hall and John Oates found themselves on the same stage with the band, attempting to fit in as best they could. But even in light of that list, Clarence Clemons remains one of their more surprising jam pals.

Sci-Fi Channel
A couple days back, the rumor that Space Jam 2 was happening hit the internet, creating massive shockwaves amongst those still blinded by 90′s nostalgia. However, around the same time, another rumor popped up for a slightly more niche audience – Farscape, the Australian Sci-Fi TV series from the Jim Henson company was under consideration for another outing (most likely in TV movie form).
Have you never heard of Farscape? If not, shame on you! Chronicling the story of lost U.S. Astronaut John Crichton, this is a show that was way ahead of its time back in 1999, boldly going into dramatic and storytelling waters that few science fiction shows ever go even today.
Developed by Rockne S. O’Bannon and David Kemper, Farscape ran from 1999 – 2003, at which point it was abruptly cancelled by the Sci-Fi channel (before it was known as “Syfy”) at the end of its fourth season.

"Boy was Spielberg wrong. Close Encounters my ass." -- John Crichton
In 1999, space opera was as stale as day-old bread. Television viewers (read: people not interested in tepid Star Trek spin-offs or look-a-likes) were desperate for something totally fresh to come along, kick the genre in the junk and bring back some high adventure. Then two amazing things happened. George Lucas brought Star Wars back to the forefront of popular culture with the release of Episode I, and SyFy launched a new flagship show called Farscape. All of sudden space opera was back in big way.
Describing Farscape to people who've never seen it has always been tricky business. The show is "epic" in the grandest possible sense. It's also the kind of show where...

If there’s such a thing as a recession-proof band, the Grateful Dead must be it. While the rest of the music industry has suffered through one of its worst years ever — record sales have plummeted, and the bottom has virtually fallen out of the concert business — the Dead have trouped along, oblivious as ever to any trends, either economic or musical.
During the first half of the year, the group — now in its 26th year — grossed $20 million on the road. Over the summer, which experts have declared the worst...
