“I want to thank my wife, my partner in life — Susan Hufford — who made this possible. Not only this, but all the good things in my life since I met her. And I tell you this not only because it’s true, but because she told me to tell you. Because she said that’s what David Canary and Peter Bergman always say.”

Those were the heartfelt words of Michael Zaslow of “Guiding Light” as he accepted the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Actor in 1994. It was his third time in as many years vying for the prize for his part as Springfield’s most reviled citizen, Roger Thorpe. Zaslow had played Roger from 1971 to 1980, and resumed the role in 1989. He seemed genuinely surprised when Linda Dano (the 1993 Daytime Emmy winner for Best Actress for “Another World”) read his name.

Update: After reports that Madame Tussauds had chosen to remove one of its Beyoncé wax figures amid criticism for its appearance, Entertainment Weekly has stated that the statue is back in action on the museum floor - but with a few changes. "We love, respect, and enjoy a working relationship with Beyoncé," Madame Tussauds told EW in an official statement. "We have adjusted the styling and lighting of her figure, and she is on display at Madame Tussauds New York." Original Story: Whereas Kylie Jenner's wax figure is a spot-on duplicate of her, one of Beyoncé's artificial "look-alikes" bears literally no resemblance to the singer. A Twitter user recently shared a picture of Bey's supposed dopplegänger at the Madame Tussauds museum located in Midtown Manhattan, noting how "fierce" it is, and a sh*tstorm of backlash ensued. During the dry programming of this holiday season, there is no time like the present to catch up with your favorite soap actors and actresses as they work their asses off on web series. Yes, that’s right. Web series. While they are hard working actors year round on their respective soap operas, many have also stepped out to produce and star in their own creative vision via the internet.
When Guiding Light went off the air last year, they were in the middle of one of the most lauded lesbian storylines ever to hit the screen. Olivia and Natalia played by Crystal Chappell and JessicaLeccia, respectively, two women previously involved with and married to men and one, Natalia, a reverent Christian, had fallen in love. The couple became known as “Otalia.” Do a Google search of Otalia and you will find everything from fan sites to discussion threads to an “Otalia for Dummies” page.

In praise of "Morning Glory"
By Nelson Aspen
Guest Editorial
I saw an advanced screening of Morning Glory last night and thoroughly enjoyed myself. After working the better part of my life in daytime television (first soaps, then morning news), I've been waiting for a film to come along that accurately portrays the fun and frustrations of producing that much content daily. (Soapdish was a lonnng time ago, folks! Things have certainly changed.) Many of the same concerns over cost and content exist in all forms of daytime television entertainment and, in the name of comedy, Morning Glory got it almost all right on. Except for one line in which the heroine, Rachel McAdams--producer of a low rated breakfast news program, proclaims that their show's existence is threatened with being replaced "by soap operas and game shows." Obviously the filmmakers are unaware of the precarious nature of TV soaps.

CBS' long-running soap opera Guiding Light left the air last September after more than 50 years on television. Many viewers found it hard to say goodbye to the characters and the performers who played them. Now, if you have the money and time, you can say goodbye up close and personal.
A "So Long Springfield" cruise is taking place on Carnival's Glory ship from July 31st until August 5th. The boat is set to sail out of New York City and visit St. John, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Performers scheduled to take part include Kim Zimmer, Robert Newman, Justin Deas, Grant Aleksander, Beth Chamberlin, Ron Raines, Jordan Clarke, Tina Sloan, Roger Bogue, Liz Keifer, Michael O'Leary, Frank Dicopoulos, and Mandy Bruno.
The Guiding Light package includes meet and greets with the actors, question and answer sessions, Karaoke, scene acting,...
