- Before becoming famous as a presenter of Blue Peter (1958) in 1972, she was a dancer with The Young Generation.
- She left Blue Peter to look after her husband Terry Gabell, a film editor who worked on Blue Peter, after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. During this time she continued to appear on television, as an in-vision continuity announcer for Southern TV, the ITV company that covered the Southampton area.
- Now works in France as a conference organiser. (October 1998)
