Elias Voit is not making things any easier for our favorite profilers just because he’s behind bars.
The first trailer for Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2, aka Criminal Minds Season 17, has arrived, and it’s juicy!
Voit isn’t letting his encumbered status stop him from annoying the hell out of the team; he’s also getting in on the crime-solving action.
The trailer definitely gives us Hannibal Lecter vibes.
Everyone who watched Silence of the Lambs knows that Lecter was a crucial, if shocking, ally to Clarice Starling as she solved one of the bureau’s most difficult cases.
(If you haven’t read the Thomas Harris book or seen the movie, please do so.)
The new Criminal Minds: Evolution trailer reveals a seasoned unsub with a specific calling card is getting away with murder.
It’s a killer so crafty that it seems the only way they can...

Silence of the Lambs Producer Discusses Donald Trump's Hannibal Lecter Reference - Main Image
Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently hosted a rally on the New Jersey shoreline and likened immigrants to the 'late, great Hannibal Lecter' from 1991's Silence of the Lambs.
In response, the Oscar-winning producer Edward Saxon refuses to take this lightly and expresses just how wrong this reference was.
Donald Trump References Hannibal Lecter in His Jersey Shore Rally Speech
Trump claimed that Venezuela's crime rate is 72% down "because they took a lot of their criminals and moved them" to the U.S. (which is actually a lot smaller than his numbers).
Not to mention, Venezuela, as the Former President continued, "is emptying out their mental institutions into the United States."
It is worth mentioning that the Former President made the same statement about the South American mental institution last year, and had no evidence to prove his statements.

Bryan Fuller has dramatically quit as showrunner on A24’s Friday The 13th prequel series Crystal Lake, citing creative differences.
Bryan Fuller, previously known for hit TV series Hannibal, has quit his role as showrunner on A24’s upcoming Friday The 13th prequel show, Crystal Lake.
Fuller made the announcement in an Instagram post, in which he stated that “A24 has elected to go a different direction with the material.”
“Adapting classic horror is something I have some experience with,” Fuller wrote, as shared by TheWrap. “These shows require a vision that elevates and transforms, as well as delivers what audiences have come to expect, which is an ambitious and risky endeavour. It requires people to take the leap with me.”
Fuller then sought to remind his followers of his previous success with Hannibal, which served as a prequel to the likes of Michael Mann’s Manhunter and Jonathan Demme’s Silence Of The Lambs.

Remember that time Rob Zombie, The Weinstein Company, and Dimension Films got hopped up enough to make some bad decisions together and decided “Hey, you know Michael Myers? The character whose mystique is in large part because we don’t know where, how, or why his evil exists? We should make a film explaining that it’s all because his family sucked and his house smelled like old bologna!” I’m paraphrasing a little. Well, just a few months beforehand the same choice, to explain and demystify the background of one of horror’s most mysterious monsters was made for Hannibal Lecter as well. Nearly a year ago, Dreamworks Animation released Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. The sequel to the somewhat successful mostly forgotten movie Puss In Boots. ‘Puss In Boots: The Last Wish’, also known as just Puss In Boots 2, follows Puss as he reaches the last of his nine lives. When gaining knowledge about a wishing star, he goes on an ambitious quest to find the star and wish for more lives. Encountering friends and foes along the way.
Upon its release, existing as a sequel to a spinoff of a popular franchise, the public’s expectations of Puss In Boots: The Last Wish weren’t high at all. When the film was released in America on the eleventh of December, 2022 (then elsewhere in other countries and territories), it surprisingly came with positive reviews. Surprising audiences away with its rich storytelling, great characters, and quite shockingly dark moments, Puss In Boots...

True Detective has to be one of the most brilliant anthology mystery thriller shows ever made. Originally created by Nic Pizzolatto, the HBO series told a dark and haunting tale through the brilliant performances by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in its first season. The quality of the series took a nosedive in its second season and the third season while better from Season 2 didn’t really match the expectation that the inaugural season of True Detective set. Now, we are in Season 4 titled Night Country and with a new creative force behind the series, the fans are getting exactly what they want. So, if you have already finished the much awaited Season 4 of True Detective and are hoping for a renewal, here are some similar shows you could watch while waiting for the new season.

As attention turns to the Oscars around this time every year, it’s easy to get caught up remembering some of the big winners. One of the most notable champs was The Silence of the Lambs, which took home the “Big Five” awards in 1992: Best Picture, Best Actor (Anthony Hopkins), Best Actress (Jodie Foster), Best Director (Jonathan Demme), and Best Adapted Screenplay (Ted Tally), as well as Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing to round it out.
And despite owning the film rights to works of author Thomas Harris, super-producer Dino De Laurentiis saw none of that windfall, be it Oscar gold or box office riches. How could a savvy Hollywood player, responsible for making some of the most important movies of all time, make such a wild mistake?
It’s all Michael Mann’s fault.

Every few months, someone seems to ask either the show’s creator Bryan Fuller or series star Mads Mikkelsen what’s going on with their hoped-for revival of Hannibal. Eight years have gone by since NBC cancelled the television series, which was inspired by characters in novels by Thomas Harris, after its third season, but Fuller, Mikkelsen, and fellow star Hugh Dancy have always let it be known that they’re hoping to reunite to make a fourth season at a new home. Eight months ago, Mikkelsen said, “It’s all about finding a home for it. Of course, we’re running out of time. We can’t wait twenty years, but in the next couple of years, if somebody finds a home, I think we’re all ready to take it up again.” Now, during an interview with Business Insider, Mikkelsen has given an update, saying there’s still...

This year’s Golden Globe nominees for Best Film Supporting Actress are Emily Blunt (“Oppenheimer”), Danielle Brooks (“The Color Purple”), Jodie Foster (“Nyad”), Julianne Moore (“May December”), Rosamund Pike (“Saltburn”), and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”). Two of them in particular, Foster and Moore, happen to have something in common. It’s not just the fact that they’re both previous Oscar winners contending for Netflix releases this year. It’s actually the fact that they’ve both taken on the role of Clarice Starling in separate films adapted from novelist Thomas Harris‘s Hannibal Lecter series.
In 1991’s “The Silence of the Lambs” directed by Jonathan Demme, Foster played Clarice, who was assigned by the FBI to interview and profile deranged killer Lecter (Anthony Hopkins). The film was a huge critical and commercial hit upon release that February, so much so that 13 months later it won five Academy Awards including Best Picture.

Ever since, Fuller and stars Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy have been joining fans in hoping that Hannibal will be able to continue on some other network or streaming service someday. Talking to Deadline while on the red carpet for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Mikkelsen said there’s still a chance that a Hannibal revival will happen… but they’re running out of time.
Asked if there’s ever any chance he’d play Hannibal again, Mikkelsen told Deadline, “Always a chance. There’s always a chance. It’s all about finding a home for it. Of course, we’re running out of time. We can’t wait twenty years, but in the next couple of years,...

This article contains spoilers for "Succession" season 4.
Before he terrorized the planet as the CEO of Waystar RoyCo, "Succession" star Brian Cox played the world's most infamous cannibal: Hannibal Lecter, in Michael Mann's "Manhunter."
The final episode of HBO's "Succession" airs tonight, and fans are eager to see how the torrid tale of the warring Roy siblings ends. Jesse Armstrong's brutal satirical drama about the backstabbing machinations of a media mogul (who definitely isn't Rupert Murdoch) became an instant critical darling and has enthralled audiences from the start. It's a scathing portrayal of the weak-minded bullies and wannabe social climbers who populate the inner circle of a CEO's unimpeachable corporate powerhouse. At its heart is Logan Roy, the merciless businessman who will (and did on multiple occasions) throw anyone under the bus to retain his iron grip on Waystar RoyCo.

According to /Film readers, the "Alien" film series is the greatest horror franchise ever. Yes, the xenomorph-starring series certainly has some strong films. However, it's not the most consistent (more on that later), so I disagree. Throughout horror history, sequels, remakes, and reboots have spawned franchises in sub-genres ranging from slashers to the paranormal. No IP is immune to a barrage of iterations. Sometimes, they work. Other times, well ... They leave much to be desired.
Whether we're talking heavy hitters like "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Halloween" or offbeat series such as "The Living Dead," there's always a franchise to gnash your teeth on as a horror fan. Ghoulish monsters, vengeful witches, cannibal serial killers, and disturbed sleep demons decorate our favorite storytelling medium with nightmare fuel. But they're not all created equal.

Will Smith was supposed to be the most controversial element of Emancipation, Apple TV+’s big-budget epic from director Antoine Fuqua chronicling an enslaved man’s bid for freedom in 1860s Louisiana. Apple TV+ raised eyebrows by choosing to release its record-breaking acquisition — the streamer paid a reported 105 million for the drama during Cannes’ virtual market in 2020 — in early December, just nine months after Smith infamously slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars (and Smith’s subsequent 10-year ban from the ceremony).
With all eyes on whether the film could help rehabilitate Smith’s image after the incident, Emancipation producer Joey McFarland managed to deflect some of the attention away from the film’s lead star at a red carpet premiere in November, when he proudly brandished what he claimed to be the original print of the haunting photo that inspired the movie.

Warning: contains spoilers for Luther Series 1 – 5
If Andy Serkis is to be believed, his antagonist in the upcoming Luther: The Fallen Sun is to be the grizzled London detective’s fiercest adversary yet. But he’ll have to go some way to out-baddie Ruth Wilson’s Alice Morgan – the cunning killer who plagued/romanced Idris Elba’s morally grey copper in Luther’s first five series.
Alice first crosses paths with Luther at the start of series one, as the Met’s Serious Crimes Unit investigates the murder of her parents. Luther knows she committed the crime, but her genius track-covering means he can’t prove it. Their initial game of cat-and-mouse turns into a twisted and brilliant courtship – one that would go on to define the show’s success.

The Netflix original series Hemlock Grove was a collaboration between the streaming service and producer/distributor Gaumont, and did not belong to Netflix in perpetuity – as evident from the fact that it was removed from the service last month. But if you were hoping to watch Hemlock Grove soon, we have good news for you: the independent free streaming network FilmRise had struck a deal with Gaumont to bring all three seasons (33 episodes) of the show to their service. Also part of the FilmRise and Gaumont deal is all three seasons (39 episodes) of the Thomas Harris-inspired series Hannibal!
Based on a novel by Brian McGreevy and executive produced by Eli Roth, Hemlock Grove follows the strange happenings in a fictional town in Pennsylvania. Roman Godfrey, heir to the town’s wealthy Godfrey family, befriends the town’s newcomer, Peter Rumancek. Recent brutal murders in the town have stirred up rumors,...

Hemlock Grove is coming back to streaming.
The Eli Roth-exec produced horror drama series was removed last month from Netflix but now, thanks to a deal between producer/distributor Gaumont and FilmRise, the show will return to air.
The deal will see Hemlock Grove, as well as Gaumont’s Hannibal, air across FilmRise branded Ott channels. The company struck a non-exclusive deal to license the AVOD and Fast rights of both shows.

The word “visionary” gets tossed around pretty easily in show business, too often applied to creators who appealed to a broad market more than they broke new ground. But few would disagree that the word is an apt descriptor for Bryan Fuller. Not only did Fuller work on cult hits like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Heroes, but he also created some beloved oddballs, including the sweetly macabre Pushing Daisies and Hannibal, the audacious adaptation of Thomas Harris’s novels. Despite the idiosyncratic nature of his work, Fuller has established himself as a consummate collaborator, as demonstrated by his tendency to work with actors such as Lee Pace and Caroline Dhavernas across several projects.
But with the casting news about Fuller’s upcoming feature film directing debut Dust Bunny, the creator will finally be reuniting with his best collaborator, the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen. Together with Fuller, Mikkelsen already did the impossible,...

It’s not the reunion that “Hannibal” fans have been waiting for, but it might be the next best thing: Series creator Bryan Fuller and star Mads Mikkelsen are making a movie together.
Titled “Dust Bunny,” the film is written and directed by Fuller, who makes his feature directorial debut. Mikkelsen will star in the horror movie, which focuses on an 8-year-old girl who enlists the help of a neighbor to kill a monster under her bed that she believes ate her family. The project was announced November 1 during the first day of the American Film Market, with global sales company Sierra/Affinity set to present it to distributors at the eight-day industry event.
Kristen Figeroid, Sierra/Affinity’s managing director and executive vice president stated that “Mads brings such a unique quality to every character he brings to life and his role in ‘Dust Bunny’ will be no exception. We...

At the 64th Academy Awards, it was all about "The Silence of the Lambs." The host, Billy Crystal, was wheeled onto the stage wearing Hannibal Lecter's famous muzzle, and by the end of the evening the film had swept the "Big Five" Oscars: Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Adapted Screenplay, becoming only the third film in the Academy's history to do so (after "It Happened One Night" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.")
It was a cannibal love-in, alright; in the building at least, because outside in the street several hundred protestors gathered to angrily decry the portrayal of gay characters in a number of the year's films, most notably "The Silence of the Lambs" for its transgender serial killer Buffalo Bill (via Advocate). Are you capable of killing someone? What if you’re in a particularly bad mood? What if someone’s really asking for it? In the BBC’s new drama Inside Man, David Tennant’s character, a vicar, is falsely accused of owning indecent images of children. He faces the following everyday dilemma: should he allow his accuser to spread the falsehood? Or should he just bump her off when he has the chance? Thus begins a show that explores the idea that “everyone is a murderer. You just have to meet the right person.”
Those words are uttered by Stanley Tucci’s character, Jefferson Grieff, who speaks from experience: he is locked up on Death Row and awaiting his execution. But is he right? Though its last episode aired in 2015, Bryan Fuller's opulent, gothic horror take on the police procedural genre and the iconic characters created by Thomas Harris is still considered essential viewing by many. Watching it, it's easy to see why. Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy breathe glorious, messy life into the characters of Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham, and the dizzying, dangerous dance that the two engage in over the show's three seasons is nearly impossible to look away from.
Like Lecter himself, the show's aesthetic and storytelling blend stylish decadence with stomach-churning horror. The dialogue abandons realism and standard cop show mainstays in favor of the poetic, serving...

Every episode of Hannibal felt like a miracle. It’s not just the fact that the series brought something new to a character so inextricably tied to Anthony Hopkins (no disrespect to Brian Cox’s petulant Hannibal Lecter from Manhunter). Nor is it the fact that the show managed to evolve from a weekly crime procedural to a psychedelic thriller/romance/comedy. It’s also the fact that somehow, some of the gnarliest imagery ended up on network television.
With all that in mind, it doesn’t seem quite so outlandish that Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy could reprise their roles as Dr. Hannibal Lecter and FBI profiler Will Graham for a fourth season. Even though the season three finale that aired in August 2015 seemed to end on a fairly definitive note, with Hannibal and Will plummeting to their death in a bloody embrace, fans and cast members hoped that the show could come back.

Ethan Hawke, in 30 years, has never played a flat-out villain before, so it would be nice to say that in “The Black Phone” he not only plays a serial killer — one of those anonymous madmen who live in a one-story house of dingy brick with a dungeon in the basement — but that he makes something memorable out of it. His mask is certainly disturbing. Hawke’s character, who is known as the Grabber, is a kidnapper of teenage boys, to whom he presumably does unspeakable things. He drives a black ’70s van with the word Abracadabra written on the side of it, and when he pops out of the vehicle to yank his victims off the street, he’ll be wearing a magician’s hat or carrying some black balloons. But it’s not until we see him in his home element that we take in the full hideous grandeur of that mask,...

Within its first 10 minutes, "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" channels Hammer Films, "The Silence of the Lambs," and Jim Carrey's "Liar Liar." One of these things is not like other. Sort of, anyway.

There have been many dramas in which actors portray legendary true-life psycho killers, and the overwhelming majority of them are less than convincing. Every so often, though, an actor — through looks, skill, and temperament — will connect to the monster he’s playing in a way that’s so uncanny it seizes and chills you. Jeremy Davies’ performance as Charles Manson in the 2004 version of “Helter Skelter” was like that — it was the definitive Manson, sinuous and seething, even greater than Steve Railsback’s celebrated portrayal. Jeremy Renner, before anyone had heard of him, played Jeffrey Dahmer in the 2002 indie gem “Dahmer,” and he was remarkable: a lonely vacant nerd of horror.

In a television landscape riddled with reboots, sequels and revivals, audiences are primed for stories that pick up where another tale has left off. Figuring out how to continue the narrative of a longtime franchise or beloved character isn’t always easy, but when done well, can translate to loyal fans — and even Emmy attention, as in the case of AMC’s “Breaking Bad” prequel, “Better Call Saul.” This season, several TV series are keeping well-known lore alive, but evolving their stories in new and sometimes unexpected ways.
Among the shows that are continuing journeys of known characters are everything from “Power Book II: Ghost” at Starz, to NBC’s “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” the latter of which has revived beloved detective Elliot Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni. Other series pick up characters or universes in slightly less conventional ways.

Horror darling Hannibal was originally planned by creator and showrunner Bryan Fuller to run for seven seasons, but was sadly canceled after only three near-perfect ones. Pretty much ever since finale “The Wrath of the Lamb” aired back in 2015, the passionate Hannibal fandom has been asking for a continuation of the drama following the dysfunctional love story between Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham, based on the books by Thomas Harris. Fuller hasn’t given up either. This week, some excellent Hannibal-inspired art chosen to hang in the U.S. Capitol building for a year as part of the annual Congressional Art Competition, has been making the rounds on Twitter, prompting Fuller to comment on the possibility of a Season 4.

“Evil” could be on the move. The supernatural drama may head from CBS over to Paramount+, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.
If it makes the move, it would join “Clarice” and “Seal Team” as CBS dramas to get shifted over to Paramount+.
Reps for CBS and Paramount+ declined to comment.
“Evil” aired its first season in 2019 and was quickly renewed for a second season, which has yet to air. It stars Mike Colter and Katja Herbers.
The series centers on skeptical but open-minded psychologist Kristen Bouchard (Herbers), who meets and begins working with priest-in-training David Acosta (Colter) and a blue-collar contractor (Aasif Mandvi) to determine whether or not a man on trial for a string of grisly murders was driven by demonic possession. “Evil” also stars Michael Emerson as Leland Townsend, an expert witness to the defense with something sinister up his sleeve.
