It's an uncertain time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Marvel Studios looking to get back to quality over quantity, we're expecting sweeping changes to be made to the Multiverse Saga slate, with D23 or Comic-Con the most likely destinations for an update.
However, we're not the only ones wondering what's next. Talking to The Playlist, Benedict Cumberbatch was asked what he knows of Doctor Strange 3.
"Who knows," he responded when they wondered whether it would be released before the next Avengers movies. As for the former Sorcerer Supreme's role in those, Cumberbatch added, "We will see. We will find out. I’m not sure where he’s been and what he’s been up to and who with, but yeah, I know as little as you."
Later, the site quizzed the actor on the major changes made to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after it was pushed...

Eli Roth’s Borderlands will finally hit theaters this August, almost nine years after its announcement. The film, based on the critically acclaimed video game franchise of the same name, underwent several script changes and production delays. The Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart starrer’s trailer was a mixed bag.
Moreover, fans of the game franchise are skeptical of the big screen medium as it may not have the time to establish different storylines starting from the 2009 game.

A popular suggestion among the video game fanbase was to make Borderlands into an animated series. This animated version would be a much better way to bring the world-building, numerous characters, and their complex interconnected storylines onto the screen.

We first got confirmation that Marvel Studios was planning to introduce Nova to the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2022, and since then, there have been conflicting reports about which medium the project was being developed for.
Last we heard, the studio had settled on a movie, but a new rumor is claiming that Nova will be making his debut on the small screen after all.
According to Daniel Richtman, Nova will be a Disney+ series, and production is currently scheduled to get underway at some point next year. The reliable insider has also heard that the show will focus on a "young lead," which means there's a decent chance it won't be Richard Rider, but Marvel Comics' more recent incarnation of the space-faring hero, Sam Alexander.
A young lead would also indicate that Ryan Gosling won't be playing the character!

It's been nearly a year since we last saw the Man of Steel on our screens, but The CW has confirmed today that Superman & Lois returns for its fourth and final season this fall.
The show will be part of the network's 2024 - 2025 schedule and is one of only a handful of scripted series set to air over that period (a result of Nexstar acquiring The CW and moving away from pricey dramas).
While we don't have a specific premiere date, we can confirm Superman & Lois is moving from Tuesday nights to Thursday nights. That's quite a departure seeing as its first three seasons aired on a Tuesday, but the reason for the change is The CW's acquisition of WWE Nxt.
That takes a two-hour timeslot on Tuesdays, leaving no room for the iconic DC Comics character.

David Corenswet’s casting in Superman: Legacy was perhaps one of the rare times that fans were not outraged by the choice. Although some were still holding onto the past, there was no denying that the actor might turn out great in the role. One would not assume an opinion like this to change until the film came out or a reason was given. However, recent events might say otherwise.

Milly Alcock’s work as a younger iteration of Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon has given fans a good idea of just how talented she is as an actress. Her range has been one many have familiarised themselves with and so learning about the news of her casting as the titular character in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow only proved to be the cherry on top.
Milly Alcock in House of the Dragon.
With the many genres she has managed to work in, there is no denying that sometimes things may overlap. Other times genres get revisited. Today’s audience enjoys a mix of everything. Therefore, the number of fantasy projects is growing manifold. However, Alcock does not see herself in a fantastical role in the future. Rather, she wants to steer clear of it.

Upfront week’s reliance on films isn’t actually new but it is increasingly bizarre, as evidenced by the top of Wednesday morning’s Warner Bros. Discovery presentation kicking off with sizzle that prioritized features Furiosa, Dune: Part Two and Wonka — when new episodes of the HBO and Max’s flagship Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon, are just weeks away.
But the opening frames proved to be relatively misleading, as the 90-minute (notably David Zaslav free) pitch to advertisers focused almost exclusively on … advertising. And on linear TV, at that. Film was referenced, of course, but as a vehicle to get Procter & Gamble’s Olay in on the Barbie phenomenon. Ad sales execs literally offered up James Gunn’s first project of the new DC era to the room full of media buyers, asking who wants sponsorship deals ahead of its planned 2025 release: “Do you want to be in Superman?...

The 2019 release ‘Shazam!’ garnered acclaim for its upbeat approach to the superhero genre, centering around the character of the same name. Zachary Levi portrayed the adult Shazam, while Asher Angel depicted the teenage Billy Batson.
Recently, Asher hinted at plans for a third movie, but with the underperformance of ‘Shazam! 2’ and the overhaul of the Dceu into the newly minted Dcu, the future is uncertain.
It appears that Asher has landed a different role altogether in this fresh cinematic universe, as the actor recently shared a Nightwing gif on his social media. Additionally, James Gunn has hinted at the inclusion of this superhero in his upcoming franchise, with Asher often being suggested by fans for the role.

‘Shazam!’ released in 2019 was a highly praised lighthearted movie focusing on a superhero of the same name. While the grown-up version of Shazam was played by Zachary Levi, the teenage version of Billy Batson was played by Asher Angel.
Asher recently commented how the third movie was in the plans before ‘Shazam! 2’ has flopped and Dceu was revamped into the newly established Dcu.
Now it seems that Asher has scored something else entirely, within this new cinematic universe as the actor recently published a Nightwing gif on his social media. As remained, James Gunn recently also teased the superhero within his new franchise, and Asher himself is a frequent fan-cast for the role.

Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Films may currently be in production on the first of the studio’s rebooted and reimagined superhero franchise pictures, but that doesn’t mean executives can’t make announcements about the second one.
“Supergirl: World of Tomorrow” will hit theaters (and IMAX) on June 26, 2026, as per reports. The Dcu is still very young, and we have yet to see how James Gunn’s vision will come to life and what it will look like. But, from the looks of it, Gunn has a very firm vision of what he wants to create, and fans of DC Comics definitely have a lot to be excited about. And while the current Dcu has only a small number of confirmed characters and castings, Gunn has teased that a beloved Batman character will make an appearance in the Dcu. The character in question is Nightwing, and while we still don’t know when he will appear and who is going to play him, one potential candidate for the role might be hinting at something on his Twitter account.

More than a year ago, James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios as Co-Producers and Co-CEOs, despite Dceu severely underperforming, fans were disappointed and angry. Mostly due to the universe being completely rebooted despite having a few hits among a lot of failures.
Safran and Gunn announced a slate of movies, among them being the new live-action movie ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’ Considering that the movie recently got quite a few updates, we decided to summarize everything in this neat guide.
‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ will focus on a different, more jaded Supergirl
‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ will be based on the comic written by Tom King. The limited series ran from 2021 to 2022 and painted Supergirl in a much darker light than we’re used to seeing her in. During the destruction of her home planet Krypton, Supergirl was stuck on a piece of the planet that drifted away.

DC Studios' "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate left us with plenty to be excited about, but news of a Booster Gold TV series coming to Max was arguably among James Gunn's most thrilling announcements.
Fans have been waiting a long time to see the time-travelling superhero in live-action, and while Donald Faison briefly showed up in what would become Legends of Tomorrow's series finale following its cancellation, the character has yet to be given the chance to shine on screen (Eric Martsolf briefly played him in Smallville).
That will soon change, and all signs point to Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle joining the time-travelling superhero.
A recent Production List update suggested Booster Gold will start shooting in July. Now, scooper @MyTimeToShineH has chimed in, claiming that is indeed the case. Even more exciting, though, is the fact the character has supposedly been cast in the Dcu!

Warner Bros has been dishing out release dates to the likes of Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow and Mortal Kombat 2.
Warner Bros has officially dated several projects that we’ve heard plenty about, giving film fans dates for their diaries.
First up, there’s Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow. That film now has an announced release date of June 26th 2026. House Of The Dragon's Milly Alcock stars in the title role in the film and Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow will mark the second official film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe of movies.
The first film is of course Superman: Legacy which is set to release in the summer of 2025.
We’ve previously heard noises that this version of the character is going to be harder-edged than previous screen incarnations of the Supergirl character.
Next up, a film for late 2025. Mortal Kombat 2 has been dated...

As expected, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second Dcu movie to release in theaters after James Gunn's Superman. Warner Bros. has just announced that our new Girl of Steel will take flight on June 26, 2026.
The studio also announced dates for New Line’s Mortal Kombat 2, which will hit theaters on October 24, 2025, and Barbarian director Zach Creggar's second feature, Weapons, which will arrive on January 16, 2026.
Craig Gillespie is set to direct Woman of Tomorrow, which will star Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) in the title role.
This take on Kara Zor-El a said to be a "less earnest and more edgy version of the iconic superheroine" as Gunn looks to move away from "previous depictions of the Girl of Steel, particularly the long-running CBS/CW series fronted by Melissa Benoist."

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is set to debut on June 26, 2026 in Imax, the second feature in the newly rebooted DC Universe to secure its place on the release calendar, following James Gunn’s “Superman.” The film stars Milly Alcock (“House of the Dragon”) as the titular Girl of Steel, with Craig Gillespie (“Cruella”) directing from a script by Ana Nogueira (“The Vampire Diaries”).
The project — adapted from a 2022 comic book series of the same title, by Tom King and Bilquis Evely — takes Supergirl away from Earth as she travels through the cosmos with her trusty canine, Krypto the Superdog, in order to escape a life stuck perpetually under the shadow of her cousin, Superman. She encounters an alien girl named Ruthye, who is bent on revenge for the death of her father, and recruits Supergirl to help her.

When Gunn & Safran assumed leadership roles as co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studio, they unveiled plans for a comprehensive revamp of the old Dceu, introducing a multitude of projects spanning live-action films, television series, and animated shows.
While several projects are currently in production, including the highly anticipated ‘Superman’ slated for a 2025 release and ‘Creature Commandos,’ the inaugural project under the newly established Dcu label, one project that has received relatively little attention is the upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV Show, centered around the titular hero. However, it appears that this will soon change, as the show has received a significant production update.
As per the Production List, the show is slated to commence production on July 8, 2024, just a few weeks from now. This suggests that DC Studio has likely secured its Booster Gold. Apart from this detail, the production listing is rather limited, which is typical for projects of similar magnitude.

When Gunn & Safran took over DC Studio as co-chairmen and co-CEOs, they announced a complete overhaul of the old Dceu and announced a large number of projects ranging from live-action movies to live-action TV shows and animated series. We know that several projects are currently in production such as ‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025 and ‘Creature Commandos’ the first project to be released under the newly coined Dcu label.
One project that is rarely talked about when it comes to the Dcu is the upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV Show, focusing on the hero of the same name. It seems however that this won’t remain the case for long as the show received a massive production update.
According to the Production List, the show is expected to enter production on July 8, 2024, which is only a few weeks away. Based on that information we can assume that DC Studio has found its Booster Gold.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has proved his prowess as one of the greatest The Walking Dead villains albeit turning into a soft character in the later seasons and his own solo spin-off venture with Lauren Cohan’s The Walking Dead: Dead City at AMC. But the actor is now aiming for a big DC role, one that even Jason Momoa is vying for.

Momoa, who played Aquaman in the Dceu, has set his eyes on a potential movie based on the interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, Lobo. And with recent comments from Morgan, he would very much like to play the same character as well. However, there might be one problem that would prevent him from playing the role.

With the reboot of Zack Snyder’s Dceu by James Gunn, the decade-long franchise came to an end. Though the films were marred with mismanagement issues and many behind-the-scenes controversies, there were moments of excitement from casting announcements and concepts for films that kept the fans ecstatic.
One such moment was the announcement of Ben Affleck as Batman in Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The filmmaker revealed the actor’s first look as the Caped Crusader for the first time 10 years ago and shut many naysayers up. The reveal still holds a special place in the hearts of fans as the actor’s performance received acclaim.

Brandon Routh’s Superman was kind of forgettable as the movie failed to make a box-office splash despite the fairly well-received critical praise. The Bryan Singer-directed movie was pushed into oblivion after the first installment, Superman Returns, was released in 2006.
Brandon Routh in Superman ReturnsHowever, Routh’s Superman had so much potential to grow. The Tomatometer score of 74% on Rotten Tomatoes has been the advocate of the prowess of the movie. Still, superhero movies must get the desired numbers at the box office to have room for sequels, and Routh’s Superman Returns failed to meet that criteria. But one scene from the movie seems to have rekindled the essence of the flick among fans.

It’s been over a year since the release of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ marking the conclusion of the team’s journey as we knew it. It also served as James Gunn’s final directorial venture for the MCU before he transitioned full-time into directing for the newly established Dcu.
Chris Pratt’s character, Star-Lord, received a fitting conclusion; despite losing the girl, he gained something far more significant: the chance to rediscover what he lost when he was abducted by Yondu. James Gunn has a lot planned for the DC Universe, and a significant weight of it seems to lie in his upcoming animated series, Creature Commandos. There has been a lot of conversation around this seemingly minuscule series, which also happens to be setting up some of the most significant storylines in DC’s near future.
James Gunn’s Creature Commandos
One of the most unfortunate deaths in recent years has to have been that of Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag. It would seem that this painful wound is being ripped open again, as Flag’s father, Rick Flag Sr., is making his way into the franchise.
While many would be excited solely based on this news, it would seem that the character is entering the universe with one goal; revenge. Could Amanda Waller help Flag Sr. kill his son’s killer?

In the world of comic books and their movie adaptations, no names come close to the behemoth production houses of Marvel and DC. The studio houses of the respective comic giants have held onto their cinematic universes and solo movies for decades now. In this aspect, Spider-Man from the former and Batman from the latter stands out as not only two of the most widely recognized superheroes around the world but also the characters with the most flicks to their name.
In this saga, two actors, namely John Leguizamo and Jim Carrey, carry their own distinct and disappointing tales of playing villains for such adaptations. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was always intended to be the final Gotg movie (at least for the foreseeable future), and it served as a fitting send-off for the team - but it did also lay the groundwork for potential follow-ups/spin-offs at the same time.

Fans have widely criticised the way the suit looks, and even how the reveal photo depicts Superman. However, while some have been talking about the suit and how bad it looks, one fan has taken matters into their own hands, creating artwork for David Corenswet’s Superman in a new and improved outfit. Casting Chris Pratt as Star-Lord was a pretty big gamble for Marvel. After all, to most of us he was the man-child Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation and nothing more. Fortunately for Pratt and the MCU, director James Gunn saw something special in him. While a number of actors also auditioned for the part, one who still remembers that moment and why he didn’t land Peter Quill is Joel Edgerton, who is well aware he just didn’t understand the tone they were going for.
Appearing on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast (via Variety), Joel Edgerton remembered Guardians of the Galaxy being one of the most high-profile projects he missed out on, probably for good reason. “Star-Lord’s a good one, actually, because I, unlike Chris [Pratt], didn’t quite sort of understand the tone of it the way he did and the way that those guys did. Who’s In It?
It’s always interesting to see who will get the chance to put on the suit. Will they go more for the look of Superman, or will they find an actor who can convey the wholesomeness of the character? Sometimes, they get both. The characters surrounding...

Romance tropes always play a crucial role in superhero films, as it enriches the plot and adds another layer of complexity to the characters’ personalities. While romance enables its viewers to relate to the film, the superhero genre always struggles to incorporate the ideas in their movies. Such was the case in the original Zack Snyder’s Justice League, until Avengers: Endgame directors approved of the unprecedented idea.

In the DC universe, the rivalry of Batman and Superman stands tall as one of the most iconic and enduring dynamics. The rivalry originates from the clash of ideologies and their take on justice. However, the Rebel Moon filmmaker decided to take their iconic rivalry to another level as he decided to put the Caped Crusader and The Daily Planet’s reporter in a relationship after Superman’s demise in the original plot of Justice League.
