- Mikheil Gelovani was born on January 6, 1893 in Lasuria, Kutaisi Governorate, Russian Empire [now Tsageri Municipality, Republic of Georgia]. He was an actor and director, known for The Fall of Berlin (1950), The Vow (1946) and Fortress on the Volga (1942). He died on December 21, 1956 in Moscow, RSFSR, USSR [now Russia].
- Once he played Joseph Stalin in They Wanted Peace (1938) his fate was sealed. Stalin liked the way Mikheil looked on screen so much that this was the role Gelovani became most famous for, even though he was a lot bigger than Stalin.
