Is Paramount+ cleaning house?
It seems that every scripted series that doesn't have Taylor Sheridan's name attached is getting the pink slip.
The latest series to get canceled is Joe Pickett, which recently wrapped its sophomore run on the service.
We get it: The streaming bubble has burst.
Amid the SAG-AFTRA strike and coming off the WGA strike, some controversial decisions have been made across the whole breadth of the business.
But this latest cancellation from Paramount+ hurts, mainly because the series didn't waste a single scene.
Paramount+ recently caught heat when it promoted the season finale as the series finale before walking the footage back.
These things happen.
It happened with Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on Max, which went on to get renewed, so maybe it was a mistake.
But it doesn't get away from the fact that we're losing a gem of a series that delivered on many fronts.

“Joe Pickett” has been canceled at Paramount+ after two seasons, Variety has learned.
The drama series was originally commissioned by Charter Communications’ Spectrum Originals in early 2021. The first season aired on that platform beginning in December 2021, with Spectrum announcing a second season order in February 2022.
However, Spectrum Originals head Katherine Pope was named head of Sony Pictures Television in July 2022, with Charter announcing it would be shutting down Spectrum Originals operations in August of that year. Paramount+ has the streaming rights to the series, as it is produced by Paramount Television Studios, with Season 2 airing on the streaming service beginning in June 2023. Both seasons will remain available on the service for the time being.
“Joe Pickett” followed the title character, a Wyoming game warden played by Michael Dorman, as he investigates crimes in and around the town of Saddlestring. The series is based on the Joe Pickett novels written by C.J. Box.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Big Sky Season 2 finale “Catch a Few Fish.”] Sheriff Beau Arlen (Jensen Ackles) is going to fit in very nicely on Big Sky next season. A couple of major twists and compelling new mysteries presented themselves in Big Sky‘s Season 2 opener, which saw John Carroll Lynch return from beyond the TV grave. In an interview with Deadline, the SAG Award winner confirmed the identity of his new character and teased his storyline.
As the episode titled “Wakey, Wakey” opens, the primary antagonist of Season 1, sex trafficking trucker Ronald (Brian Geraghty), is on the lam. Private detective Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) is still recovering from the gunshot wound inflicted during his escape, and like her colleague Cassie (Kylie Bunbury), remains intent on taking him down. While Cassie distracts herself with work at Dewell & Hoyt, hoping for a clue that will bring her to Ronald, Cassie visits Sheriff Tubb (Patrick Gallagher) to inform him that she wants to rejoin the force.

Spoiler Alert: Warning! This interview and episode postmortem contains details about tonight’s Big Sky episode 9, “Let It Be Him”
We saw some jaw-dropping stuff tonight.
For example, private investigators Cassie and Jenny (Kylie Bunbury and Katheryn Winnick) chasing down an autopiloted Tesla commandeered by a dead priest with little kidnapped Erik (Evan Whitten) on the passenger side. Another takeaway from tonight: If you want to completely stop such autopiloted barreling Tesla, simply get in front of it. And that’s exactly what Cassie and Jenny did in a near-dead-on collision.
While we’ve always known that John Carroll Lynch’s sex trafficking Montana state trooper Rick Legarski’s days were numbered, nothing was more shocking to date than how he left this Earth. And, no, he wasn’t buried in a pick-up truck like poor Cody (Ryan Phillippe).

In this installment of Jordan Peele’s reimagined anthology, a mysterious visitor (Steven Yeun) crashes a Christmas party at a small Alaskan town’s police station. His presence is resented when he seemingly reveals the secrets of everyone in the room. But the traveler carries a secret of his own: He’s part of an alien species bent on taking over Earth. In the final moments of the episode, piercing lights fill the night sky, signifying the impending invasion. The visually expansive moment is immediately contrasted by an intimate, close-up shot in the jail cell as the traveler, now in his true form, caps off his successful journey with a bite of pie.

"A Traveler," The Steven Yeun led hour of The Twilight Zone reboot, is the story of one man's heroic quest for a slice of pie.
This The Twilight Zone review contains spoilers.
The Twilight Zone Episode 4
When it comes to science fiction, the devil is in the details. Hell, when it comes to any piece of narrative art, the Morningstar remains in the minutiae.
That’s what makes the beginning of The Twilight Zone Episode 4, “A Traveler” so promising. The first quarter of “A Traveler” establishes its tone and world more effectively than any of the other three offerings thus far (save for maybe “The Comedian” and Kumail Nanjiani’s deliberately awful Second Amendment joke).
The first thing “A Traveler” presents to the viewer is the northern lights. Then the camera pans down and we’re in a cop car, speeding through the frozen darkness with Yuka (Marika Sila) and...

It's hard to believe the first Night at the Museum movie hit our screens in 2006, the CGI infused family friendly adventure striking a chord with its target audiences that we got a sequel in 2009, and now, twelve years after it started, the trilogy comes to a close with Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. All the usual suspects are back for an adventure that sees security guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) finding out that the tablet that brings the exhibits of the American Museum of Natural History, including wax figures of Theodore Roosevelt (Robin Williams), Atilla the Hun (Patrick Gallagher), and miniature figures Jebidiah and Octavious (Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan), to life after the sun goes down is losing power, eventually putting an end to the exhibit's night time activities. Discovering the secret to saving his friends may lie in London, Larry travels to the British Museum to investigate.

In opposition to TV’s “Schoolhouse Rock” classic tune, for movies three is not always the magic number. It’s true for most film franchises especially comedies (with National Lampoon’S Christmas Vacation being the exceptional exception). Many moviegoers still get queasy thinking about last year’s The Hangover Part III. Well, how about a more family friendly comedy series? In 2006 Ben Stiller decided to expand his fan base by starring in the surprise box-office smash, Night At The Museum, an all ages PG slapstick farce. Naturally he followed it up three years later with Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian, which did enough business to warrant another entry….five years later?! Really, it took that long for all the stars to align? Now these flicks are special effects heavy and during the post production two of its stars, well, made sure they weren’t available for a fourth installment.

The "Night At The Museum" films have done right by 20th Century Fox as a franchise. Two movies in, the pair have grossed almost $1 billion worldwide. So far, the films, starring Ben Stiller and directed by Shawn Levy, have explored the Museum of Natural History and The Smithsonian, but in the third film, ‘Secret Of The Tomb,’ Stiller, Owen Wilson and his growing gang of historical figure friends venture outside for once. "We go to the British Museum in the second half of the movie because that is where the answers lie," Levy told USA Today. "We are out in London, on a double-decker bus, in Trafalgar Square. It's a juicy idea we haven't explored." For the plot of the third film, Stiller’s security guard protagonist and museum exhibits including Pharaoh Ahkmenrah (Rami Malek), Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams), Attila the Hun (Patrick Gallagher), Sacajawea (Mizuo Peck), Roman centurion Octavius...

Ben Stiller is back as museum security guard Larry Daley in the third installment of the Night at the Museum franchise. Once again, things are not looking good for the museum figures that come to life when the lights go out and only Larry can help save his friends.
The magic tablet that brings the museum to life is quickly losing its juice, so Larry packs up his museum posse – Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams), Pharaoh Ahkmenrah (Rami Malek), Scajawea (Mizuo Peck), Attilia the Hun (Patrick Gallagher),and pint-sized pals Jedidiah (Owen Wilson) and Octavius (Steve Coogan) –and the gang heads to the British Museum to parley with the tablet’s creator and Ahkmenrah’s pop (Ben Kingsley).
The gang also meets a new museum guard played by Rebel Wilson, the bravest of King Arthur’s knights, Sir Lancelot (Dan Stevens), and a caveman who shares more than a slight resemblance to Stiller’s Larry.
