Everyone knows the story of Goldilocks and the three bears, wherein a girl isn't satisfied with the things she discovers until they're "just right." This concept has permeated a number of disparate fields, even making it into scientific circles where the "Goldilocks principle" is used as a measure of balance.
Apparently the "Goldilocks principle" applies to the Dark Knight, too. When it comes to portraying the superhero known as Batman, there seems to be a particular physique and shape that is, as Goldilocks would say, "just right." Hitting that physique, however, is easier said than done, as actor Christian Bale came to discover while attempting to mold his body in preparation for director Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins." Through a distinct amount of effort and a lot of trial and error, it took Bale more than one try to make himself into the Caped Crusader, leading to a minor crisis behind the scenes.

If you're a fan of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," then you are familiar with The Suits. You know the ones. They made their first appearance in the 1990 film directed by Steve Barron. Created by Jim Henson and his Creature Shop, these giant anthropomorphic turtle costumes have become synonymous with the Tmnt brand. They are uniquely bulky and completely cover the actor's body, including their head. On screen, they appear as if they would be rubbery to the touch, and if you think about what it must be like to actually wear one of the costumes yourself, you might start to get claustrophobic, sweaty, or both. They are the thing that makes the '90s film trilogy so memorable because they predate CGI and are all about good old fashioned costuming and puppeteering. Depending on who you ask, people either love or hate their unique look.

While I don't hate any of the "Tmnt" movies (not even the confused patchwork that is the Michael Bay-produced 2014 big screen reboot), director Steve Barron's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is the only one I would venture so far as to call a genuinely good film. Unlike the other "Tmnt" movies to date, Barron's 1990 flick serves up plenty of silly Turtle-related hijinks while also being serious and even moving when it needs to be, creating a vision of New York City that feels lived-in and real. That's no minor achievement, either, given this version of NYC is swarming with masked ninjas, mutated reptiles, and a giant talking rat voiced by original Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash.
Equally good is the voice work for the Turtles themselves in the film. Brian Tochi, who evolved into a prolific voice actor starting in the '90s, lends his vocals to Leonardo, the...

Daniel Radcliffe has launched a new podcast series titled “Cunning Stunts” alongside his longtime “Harry Potter” stunt double David Holmes. The podcast finds the two former collaborators interviewing notable stunt performers to break down some of cinema’s best action scenes. Holmes served as Radcliffe’s stunt double on all eight “Harry Potter” films until he was critically injured during production on the final entry in the series. Holmes broke his neck performing a stunt and was paralyzed from the chest down.
The “Cunning Stunts” podcast launched with an episode featuring Derek Lea, a stunt performer whose credits include James Bond films, “Titanic,” “Saving Private Ryan,” and more. Additional episodes are set to feature Tina Maskell & David Forman, Paul Lowe, Jo McLaren, Rocky Taylor, and the late Brian ‘Sonny’ Nickels. When stunt performer David Holmes, who had doubled for Daniel Radcliffe on all eight of the Harry Potter movies, was seriously injured rehearsing a flying scene for the final chapter in 2009, his career as a stuntman came to a sudden end. Holmes broke his neck performing a jerk back stunt and was paralyzed from the chest down. He has spent the subsequent 11 years adjusting to life with limited mobility only in his arms and hands.
But his love for his profession hasn’t faltered, and he has now teamed up with his “acting double” Radcliffe for a new podcast, Cunning Stunts, in which the pair interview stunt performers from around the globe to shine a light on the people responsible for some of the most memorable sequences in film history.

Interview Juliette Harrisson 23 Sep 2013 - 07:20
Juliette chats to Atlantis lead Jack Donnelly about myths, action, stabbing himself on set and bribing horses with polo mints...
Jack Donnelly is living the dream. Having grown up the eldest of four brothers, playing with “every weapon going,” and a big fan of fantasy who’d love to go to Comic-Con “just because of the other shows that are there!” the part of swash-buckling adventurer Jason is a dream come true for the young actor probably best known from House of Anubis or as Misfits’ White Rabbit (though he has also carried out the obligatory British Actor Apprenticeship of being in Doctors). “I’ve been out of drama school six years, and you hope you get any job, you just want to work,” Donnelly says. “All the way through the auditions for this I was doing catering for private parties, topping up champagne glasses and handing out food.

Director: Chee Keong Cheung. Review: Adam Wing. Twelve follows the story of an illegal underground fighting tournament with a prize fund of £500, 000 for anyone lucky enough, and talented enough to survive. The twelve fighters come from a variety of backgrounds, each hand picked for a gruelling no-holds barred competition, intended to push each of them to their limits. There can only be one winner, and the cast of characters will be familiar to English TV fans and action junkies the world over. Danny John-Jules (Red Dwarf, Blade 2) and Joey Ansah (The Bourne Ultimatum) appear alongside Mark Strange (Batman Begins) and three times World Kickboxing Champion Nathan Lewis (Batman Begins). 12 follows the brutal story of twelve fighters who are brought together to compete in an illegal underground tournament for the prize of £500,000 should they survive. The fighters come from a variety of backgrounds, each hand-picked for a gruelling no-holds barred competition, intended to push each fighter to their limits. Each fighter has their own reasons for competing and each give everything they have to take the prize… but there can be only one winner!
Remember the first time you watched Bloodsport, or Kickboxer? If you’re anything like me you can remember how awe-struck you were at their sheer brilliance… Well it’s been a long time since an action movie caught my imagination as much as they did. That was until I watched 12. What makes it even more surprising to...

Few acts conjure images as frighteningly sexy as the Australian act Angelspit. They positively gush, drip and spew Sex and Venom in immeasurable volumes.
Formed in 2004, the riotous duo of Zoog and Destroyx have blown the doors off the dark rock scene with frighteningly garish and beautiful stage costuming along with punishing powerful and seductive beats. The band touts their music as “the beat that will make you sin”. Their music has been featured at all of top Gothic Rock festivals the world over including Wave Gotik Treffen in Germany and the Netherlands Summer of Darkness festival. After the success of their album Krankhaus, Angelspit followed-up with the highly-anticipated Blood Death Ivory, a powerfully horrific look at the darker side of conservative politics, commercialism, and media sexualization.
Recently, I was granted the pleasure to be able to listen to Black Kingdom Red Kingdom - the remix album for Blood Death Ivory.
