If you’re eagerly awaiting the release of Seven Kings Must Die – the final feature-length instalment of The Last Kingdom, airing on Netflix this April – you might be wondering what will fill the epic battle-filled hole in your TV viewing schedule once it’s all over.
Good news: the answer could be Bad Wolf’s new show The Winter King, which will air on Itvx. This brand-new historical fiction TV series has more than just the Middle Ages setting in common with The Last Kingdom: they’re also both based on a series of Bernard Cornwell novels. This time, however, instead of Saxons vs. Vikings, The Winter King will tell the story of the legend of King Arthur:
“Once upon a time, in a land that was called Britain, these things happened.”
Introducing… The Winter King.

"I'm not going to let her get the better of me." Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop, a whodunit for grownups. A University professor with an insatiable appetite for investigation is asked by some old family friends to investigate a series of hauntings at their antique bookstore. Is someone playing a trick on the poor woman? Is it a hallucination? Or is something sinister going on? The film stars Nathalie Cox as Miss Willoughby, a "smart, stylish new detective in town" who can apparently solve every case - even one involving a haunting. Kelsey Grammer also co-stars in this, joined by Caroline Quentin, Steven Elder, Bhavna Limbachia, Ruth Horrocks, Bryan Samson, Lucas Livesey, and Wayne Gordon. Unfortunately, this film looks like some made-for-tv junk without any excitement in the thrill of discovery. Pretty clear it's not a real ghost,...

Scott Adkins adds some gracefulness to this otherwise rote actioner as a former Brit soldier blackmailed by a Mexican cartel boss
Set in Mexico, this is about a British former special-ops warrior once known as Nero (martial-arts movie veteran Scott Adkins) endeavouring to save his kidnapped adolescent son (Matthew Garbacz). With its one-word past-participle title, it’s as if the makers weren’t even trying to hide that this is basically a knock-off of Taken, with much lower-wattage stars and cheaper locations.
That said, there’s a bit of satirical wit in the dialogue, particularly from Mario Van Peebles as the villainous – but not completely evil – mastermind behind the kidnapping. He plays Mexican mid-level cartel top dog Mzamo, in cahoots with Nero’s slimeball former boss, Donovan (Steven Elder), who has snatched Nero’s kid in order to force him to kill everything that moves on a pre-plotted itinerary so...

Let’s get this out of the way first… Seized contains three things I love in my action movies 1) Scott Adkins kicking, punching and shooting his way through the film; 2) Isaac Florentine in the directors chair; and 3) An unexpectedly awesome turn from Mario Van Peebles!
If I have said it once I have said it a million times! I am a sucker for a Scott Adkins movie. I mean how the hell could you not be? He is a super awesome Brit who is super awesome at the punches and kicks. The good thing is you rarely have to wait long for your next fix because Adkins is a workhorse and likes to keep himself busy. Add in the fact this is an Issac Florentine movie and these guys have...

“Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer and Nathalie Cox (“Clash of the Titans”) have completed principal photography at York, U.K. on mystery/suspense feature “Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop,” directed by Brad Watson (“The 7th Dimension”).
“This has been a terrific experience,” said Grammer. “Although Covid presented a new set of challenges, we were able to work very effectively through new standards of film production. I would urge my family of actors at SAG-AFTRA to take a page out of the British playbook; we can responsibly get back to work. Filming took place with Covid-19 safety measures in place.
Filming has wrapped on family adventure Miss Willoughby And The Haunted Bookshop, starring Nathalie Cox and Kelsey Grammer, which shot in the UK during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The film began shooting four weeks ago in York and observed health guidelines to ensure the safety of cast and crew during the ongoing virus crisis. A Covid-19 supervisor was on set to ensure government-sanctioned guidelines were met.
It marks one of the first independent features to shoot in the UK following a total shutdown of production in mid-March as a result of the pandemic.

"There are no good people in there - no saints, only sinners." Lionsgate has released an official trailer for an action thriller titled Seized, the latest from B-movie action filmmaker Isaac Florentine (who also made Acts of Vengeance with Adkins). Mma action star Scott Adkins plays a former Special Forces agent whose son is kidnapped and must now wipe out three dangerous crime syndicates if he wants to see him alive again. Adkins has been starring in endless action movies recently, none of them worth watching, but he still keeps making them - he's also in Debt Collectors and Legacy of Lies this year. Seized also features Mario Van Peebles with a killer cowboy hat, Steven Elder, Karlee Perez, James P. Bennett, David Fernandez Jr., Luis Gatica, and Mauricio Mendoza. Both epic in scale and intimate in design, The King shows the struggle of a young king – who is fully embodied by Timothée Chalamet, who yet again proves he’s the best young talent Hollywood has to offer.
The brooding slow burn that is The King sets a pace from the very beginning that shows us this isn’t your typical historical epic. Instead of this being another action packed medieval tale, The King takes a slower, deeper look at the life and hardships of a king. It also takes a hard deep look at the reality of war and the cost of peace.

Director: Andrew Goth. Writers: Andrew Goth and Joanne Reay. Cast: Wesley Snipes, Kevin Howarth, Riley Smith, Tanit Phoenix, Simona Brhlikova and Steven Elder. Gallowwalkers is a film, which began production in 2006, in Namibia. This title experienced some stumbling blocks when the principal actor, Wesley Snipes, was arrested for tax evasion. This project was put on hold, until his release. And now, Gallowwalkers will soon be available to western and horror films fans. The film itself is a little convoluted and some of the editing techniques are a little choppy. However, Gallowwalkers offers an interesting take on a familiar genre, the western. Initially, the film's story is all over the place. Snipes plays Aman, a man seeking revenge. Aman is also cursed by the Devil? And, anyone that he kills will come back to life. So, his revenge does not go smoothly and his sidekick is more trouble than help. Aman...

Wesley Snipes is back, guys! And he’s more than ready to fight against a gang of zombies! Yeah, that’s exactly the thing with the upcoming horror-western titled Gallowwalkers, which comes from director Andrew Goth, and centers on a cursed gunman, played by Snipes, whose victims return as zombies warriors. Sounds promising?
Andrew Goth directed the movie from a script he co-wrote with Joanne Reay, which centers on a cursed gunman named Aman who incurs the wrath of undead warriors after he kills the gang that murdered his lover.
Or, if you prefer the official synopsis:
The movie tells the story of a mysterious gunman, Aman, the son of a nun, who breaks her covenant with God to ensure his survival. Her break with God curses her son to be hunted by all those who die by his hand. When he takes revenge on a gang that murdered his love,...

"Ab Aeterno" is one of the better episodes of this season of "Lost" for several reasons, chief among them that this show genuinely enjoys getting caught up in its own complicated backstory. At times, yes, the episode felt like a bit of an exposition dump, but it was the first episode in a long while to stay almost completely in one timeline, and it also filled in some interesting gaps in the history of the island and some major characters. But it was also notable for the way it played into the show's love of moral ambiguity. If Verbal Kint's hypothesis was that the Devil's greatest trick was convincing the world he didn't exist, then the "Lost" version is that the Devil's greatest trick was convincing the world that he's actually God. "Lost" isn't afraid to call good and evil for what they are, but it's also not prone to...

The March 23 episode will focus on Richard Alpert and – God willing – we'll finally get to learn more about his backstory. From recent episodes I think it's safe to assume what many had suspected – that Richard is somehow tied to the Black Rock ship (possibly as a slave on the ship), that Jacob seemed to "gift" him with immortality. From the synopsis below we can see that both Jacob and the Man in Black will be making appearances, so flashbacks to Richard's life are probably likely.
I like the side-ways universe but, as I told Doc Arzt last night, I'd rather the show be focusing on the island and solving its mysteries than showing us another universe with familiar characters. We still don't know how or why the never-crash universe is important and I'm getting kind of antsy. So if a Richard-centric episode will focus on the island, then I'm all for it.

Cannes film review, Market screening
Mr. Peterson's got a better cell phone than you. His cool gizmo tells him winning slot machines, leads him to babes, alerts him to hot stocks. That's the too-good-to-be-true premise of this taut sci-fi/horror thriller, which cagily meshes new technology with proven genres.
The Gift is a male-fantasy story trip that blasts through international hot spots, techno-charged with quick cuts, sound salvos and testosterone-fueled action. It may score solid numbers overseas with the teenage action crowd, but in the U.S. it seems best fit for an outlet such as cable channel Spike TV, whose viewers will be pleased with its cut-to-the-chase, cut-the-chit-chat storytelling.
That old horror storyline staple -- that man's hubris leads him to scientific creations that will turn on him -- is "The Gift's" solid story infrastructure. In this case, the U.S. National Security folk have created a veritable monster through cyberspace -- Big Brother will be everywhere, unless our hero and a cadre of F.B.I. specialists can thwart the system.
Greg Marcks' apt fast-forward direction is invigorated by the sharp technical team's aesthetic expertise and the crisp lead performances of Shane West, Edward Burns and Ving Rhames. The Gift blazes over plot holes and holds aloft its cyber mumbo-jumbo narrative. As the National Security chief, Martin Sheen's sonorous barking lends credibility to the film's urgent premise.
Cast: Shane West, Edward Burns, Ving Rhames, Yuri Kutsenko, Sergey Gubanov, Martin Sheen, Steven Elder. Director: Greg Marcks. Screenwriters: Kevin Elders, Michael Nitsberg. Producers: Alexander Leyvinan, Steve Richards, Roee Sharon. Director of photography: Lorenzo Senatore . Production designer: Antonello Rubino. Costume designer: Alison Freer, Maria Mladenoza.
