In the sixth episode of Dark Matter, after getting tired of all the reality-traveling, Jason1 and Amanda2 decided to take some time off in a reality which wasn’t trying to actively kill them. And both of them felt a sense of mutual attraction, especially because they had been with each other for such a long time. But, since Jason1 loved Daniela and Daniela alone, they maintained their friendly dynamic and persevered. During a moment of frustration and desperation, Jason1 almost emulated the actions of Jason2 and tried to take the place of a different Jason so that he could be together with a version of Daniela. However, he stopped himself from taking such a drastic step. Amanda2 suggested that they take an approach they haven’t tried yet instead of acting like Jason2. Meanwhile, Daniela started to figure out that there was something wrong with her husband. After Jason...

“A plantation was a plantation,” Colson Whitehead wrote in his 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Underground Railroad. “One might think one’s misfortunes distinct, but the true horror lay in their universality.” It’s that sense of infinite trauma—spreading across the United States, backward and forward throughout history, and deep into the souls of the enslaved—that comes across most palpably in the 10-part adaptation of the book, which is unsparingly and expansively directed by Barry Jenkins.
On her flight from the Georgia plantation that her mother vanished from years earlier, Cora Randall (Thuso Mbedu) is asked to share the story of her pain. In Whitehead’s version of history, the railroad isn’t a metaphor but a real underground transportation system with stationmasters and conductors and locomotives, some with curtained windows and wine aboard. Every stop represents a new hope and space for testimony. In each state that Cora disembarks,...

There can never be too many science fiction shows! Our world is so strange and at the same time so not well-analyzed, that the existence of so many sci-fi movies and TV series just makes a lot of sense: the many possible scenarios on how our reality will turn out have to be explored.
Although sometimes the stories on the screen are so far from what we're used to seeing, it's actually frightening. Take Apple TV's Severance, for example. The show premiered in 2022 and immediately became a hit because of its mind-bending premise.
The show exists in two universes where the same characters live, and the most interesting thing is that both of them are real: the characters just don't fully realize it. Their lives are divided into two worlds: the usual one and the one where they work. And because of an operation they all went through, the memories...

Apple TV+ is offering extended severance.
The hit science-fiction series “Severance” debuted its first image from the second season at the tech giant’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino, California. It featured the show’s lead, Adam Scott, in an eerie white hallway holding some cerulean balloons, wearing an ID badge, and looking determined.
Production on the second season ended in April. The precise launch date hasn’t been announced, but since further glimpses were included in a “Coming to Apple TV+” video, one can expect it sometime this year.
“Severance” was created by Dan Erickson, and its first season was directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle. The show satirizes business culture with a process (called severance!) in which employees have their minds and memories effectively bisected, such that they can’t remember their home life while at work or their work life while at home. Complications ensue!

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from the first five episodes of “Dark Matter,” now streaming on Apple TV+.
Blake Crouch ostensibly writes sci-fi stories; his mind-bending suspense novels “Dark Matter,” “Recursion” “Upgrade” are set in worlds where technology presents an opportunity to visit other dimensions, time travel and advance one’s brain and body to superhuman levels. But what makes Crouch’s work so special is that his books are love stories as well.
It’s certainly true of “Dark Matter,” his 2016 novel that he adapted into a limited series, currently airing on Apple TV+. Joel Edgerton stars as Jason Dessan, a loving family man who is kidnapped by a Jason from an alternate universe so that the two can swap lives. Jason2, as Crouch refers to him, finally gets to live out his life with wife Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and son Charlie (Oakes Fegley.) Jason Prime, however, is...

In the ever-evolving landscape of science fiction, Dark Matter, based on Blake Crouch’s 2016 novel, emerges as an ambitious yet convoluted series. This Apple TV+ adaptation relies heavily on its talented cast, particularly Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly, to keep it from unraveling under the weight of its intricate plot. The series explores what happens when physicist Jason Dessen, portrayed by Edgerton, is abducted into an alternate reality where his life took a different path. This premise provides a fertile ground for examining the concept of parallel worlds, a staple in recent sci-fi narratives. Edgerton deftly navigates his dual roles,

Who Is Max in Dark Matter? The Apple TV+ Series Just Threw Fans A Curveball - Main Image
Who is Max in Apple TV's Sci-Fi series Dark Matter? Although the series centers on Jason Dessen (played by Joel Edgerton) and his alternate-universe counterpart, the secret revealed in episodes 3 and 4 might change that – and raise the stakes considerably.
Episode 3, titled The Box, reveals the existence of a mysterious child, previously unmentioned in the series. This deviates from the series' source material, Blake Crouch's 2016 best-selling novel of the same name, and has led to some out-there theories. Here's what makes Max's existence crucial in Dark Matter.
Content Spoilers: This article contains spoilers for Apple Tv+'s Dark Matter, so proceed with caution.

The multiverse just got a little more complicated on Dark Matter.
In Apple TV+’s limited series, which is based on the sci-fi novel of the same name by Blake Crouch, physics professor Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) is pulled into an alternate version of his life by a stranger. In this universe, he chose his science career over his pregnant girlfriend Daniela (Jennifer Connelly), they never got married, and she terminated her pregnancy, meaning that their son Charlie (Oakes Fegley) was never born. The kicker? Jason’s abductor is an alternate universe version of himself, who’s now taken over his life with Daniela and Charlie.

Eric releases on Netflix on May 30, 2024.
A six-episode limited series starring heavyweights Benedict Cumberbatch and Gaby Hoffmann will be available on Netflix at the end of May. Abi Morgan created and wrote the series. She is known for her incredible work on films like Shame and The Iron Lady and her Emmy-winning writing on The Hour. The series follows a set of parents who are struggling after their son is kidnapped on his way to school.
Set in New York, Eric replicates some of the incredible work of past crime-thrilling series from Netflix, such as Mindhunters, Griselda, and Ripley. The often dark tone of the series brings a nice twist with the introduction of Eric. Eric is a character that Vincent and Cassie’s son Edgar had drawn. The larger-than-life monster is brought to life after Edgar’s kidnapping, bringing a much-needed comedic aspect to the series.

Paul Schrader may have found a trick for cheating death: Just make more movies. Amid some serious health struggles over the past few years, the 77-year-old auteur and screenwriting legend has entered one of his most prolific phases.
“Every time I’m getting ready to die, I have a new idea,” Schrader says. “Then I think, ‘Oh well, I guess I can’t die yet. I have to write this.’ ”
Over a recent five-year stretch, Schrader wrote and directed what he describes as an accidental trilogy — First Reformed (2017) with Ethan Hawke, The Card Counter (2021) with Oscar Isaac and Master Gardener (2022) with Joel Edgerton — with each film involving a fresh spin on the “man alone in a room” archetype he invented nearly 50 years ago with his script for Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (1976). Apple TV+’s latest sci-fi thriller Dark Matter already has us gripping the edge of our seats just two episodes in, but there are still plenty of questions to be answered. Like, how will Jason 1 (Joel Edgerton) return home to his loving wife Daniela (Jennifer Connelly), who is living unaware of her husband’s departure to an entirely different dimension? Why did Jason 2 (also Edgerton) kidnap Jason 1 and send him back to his alt-reality? How do all the other players at Velocity Labs tie into the nefarious scientific happenings going down at the R&d corp? And when will we finally see the show use Jason 2’s invention, a 12×12 metal box that hops between dimensions? The answer to that last question is: Very soon. In the drama’s third episode, titled “The Box,” we’ll get our first good look at the cube in question and just how it works,...

Who has not felt the sting of a missed opportunity, especially when you have come so close to your big break? For O’Shea Jackson Jr., the brush with a galaxy far, far away was definitely a bitter pill to swallow—one that the fandom of both Star Wars and the actor can empathize with.
Rising to fame as an actor in F. Gary Gray’s 2015 biopic film, Straight Outta Compton, Jackson Jr.’s talent has been evident. Earlier this year, moreover, his candidness about the disappointment of losing a coveted role in Ron Howard’s 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story to Donald Glover was as relatable as it was commendable.

5 Characters John Malkovich Could Play in The Fantastic Four - Main Image
Marvel Studios is gradually unveiling new cast members for The Fantastic Four. A couple of hours before Ralph Ineson’s casting as the villain Galactus was announced, news emerged that Oscar-winning actor John Malkovich had also joined the film.
Though details about Malkovich's role remain under wraps, there are five possible Marvel characters he can bring to life as he enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadline broke the news about Malkovich’s casting. This announcement comes a week after Marvel Studios added Paul Walter Hauser to the cast of The Fantastic Four.
But as Ineson’s casting debunked the claims that Malkovich could play Galactus, the theories on his actual role begin.

Casting Chris Pratt as Star-Lord was a pretty big gamble for Marvel. After all, to most of us he was the man-child Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation and nothing more. Fortunately for Pratt and the MCU, director James Gunn saw something special in him. While a number of actors also auditioned for the part, one who still remembers that moment and why he didn’t land Peter Quill is Joel Edgerton, who is well aware he just didn’t understand the tone they were going for.
Appearing on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast (via Variety), Joel Edgerton remembered Guardians of the Galaxy being one of the most high-profile projects he missed out on, probably for good reason. “Star-Lord’s a good one, actually, because I, unlike Chris [Pratt], didn’t quite sort of understand the tone of it the way he did and the way that those guys did. Sigourney Weaver is in talks to star in the upcoming Star Wars film, The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Word of Weaver’s involvement became public on Friday, first reported by The InSneider newsletter. Currently, her role and its scope are unknown, but given Weaver’s track record for starring in sci-fi hits, the casting feels appropriate.
The Mandalorian & Grogu was first announced this past January, and will see Pedro Pascal reprise the titular role that he originated with the 2019 Disney+ series The Mandalorian. N0w, making the jump to the big screen, the film will expand upon the show’s universe (which also spurred the spinoff series Ahsoka).
Jon Favreau, creator of The Mandalorian, will return to direct the film, which also marks the first feature-length Star Wars release since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni will produce, as will Favreau.

Following its critically acclaimed first season, AMC’s “Interview with the Vampire” is back for round two, and the Gothic drama based on Anne Rice’s beloved novels remains one of TV’s best and brightest despite the inherent darkness within.
The new season (premiering Sunday at 9/8c on AMC and AMC+) picks up in the aftermath of the jaw-dropping reveal that closed out the show’s freshman outing: Louis’ (Jacob Anderson) loyal assistant Rashid is actually his vampire lover, Armand (Assad Zaman). Once again the show makes excellent use of its unique interview framing to jump between multiple timelines as Louis weaves a complicated tale for journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian), one that explores his relationships with both Armand and Claudia, beginning with their adventures in Paris in the 1940s.
