- Trained at the Central School in London, which became the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts, before coming to the U.S in 1948. In New York, she and Dermot A. McNamara founded the Irish Players, a repertory company, active in the 1950s -'60s, that was dedicated to presenting the work of Irish playwrights.
- Youngest of three daughters born to Irish and Abbey Theatre playwright Paul Vincent Carroll and clothing designer Helena Reilly. Aunt to Helena Perez Reilly and great aunt to Paul Vincent Reilly. Her sisters are Royal Scottish Academy of Music trained musician and producer Theresa Perez and journalist Kathleen Carroll. Her half brother is Brian Carroll who resides in London.
- Scottish stage, television and screen actress active in the U.S. from the 1950's. Made her debut on Broadway in "Separate Tables" (1956). In later years spent her theatrical career working in London, Dublin and New York.
