The official trailer for Sony’s “Dumb Money” has dropped, shedding light on how a group of amateur investors artificially increased the stock value of GameStop, the popular video game retailer.
The short squeeze occurred in January 2021 after Reddit users on a page called “Wall Street Bets” united to catalyze a market explosion. As a result, significant hedge funds and independent short sellers incurred devastating financial loss.
Based on author Ben Mezrich’s “The Antisocial Network,” “Dumb Money” similarly centers around the Reddit users behind the phenomenon with actors Seth Rogen, Paul Dano, Sebastian Stan and Pete Davidson in lead roles.
The star-studded cast also includes Nick Offerman, Shailene Woodley, America Ferrera, Dane DeHaan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Clancy Brown, Anthony Ramos, Kate Burton, Christina Brucato, Deniz Akdeniz, Talia Ryder, Myha’la Herrold, Larry Owens and Rushi Kota.

In Thursday night’s Jeffrey Donovan-centric episode of “Law & Order,” titled “Appraisal,” his character Frank Cosgrove and partner Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) suspect a gallery owner has been murdered but have no body to prove their case.
In a video clip exclusively shared with TheWrap of the episode, which you can watch at the top of this story, Cosgrove assures the missing woman’s brother that he’ll do everything he can to find her. He also tells the man, “Prepare yourself,” since he believes that the sister is dead, murdered like one of her artist friends who was at the opening night event the night before.
In photos from the episode, Cosgrove reluctantly celebrates his 50th birthday and questions a suspect.
“Appraisal” also features guest stars Nicholas Podany, Kate Jennings Grant, Christina Brucato, Patrick Mulvey Adam Smith Jr., Gina Daniels, Atticus Cain and Brenda Luz Orellana.

Exclusive: Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman) is to star in and exec-produce historical-fiction podcast series The Foxes of Hydesville, which will also feature Mckenna Grace (Handmaid’s Tale), Phoebe Tonkin (Babylon) and Christina Brucato (The Menu).
The nine-episode series is inspired by the true story of the Fox sisters, whose controversial, supposed talent for speaking to the dead inadvertently helped spawn the religion of modern Spiritualism.
The three sisters heralded from Rochester, New York, and found success as mediums in the 19th Century. The two younger sisters used “rappings” to convince their older sister and others that they were communicating with spirits. Their older sister then took charge of them and managed their careers. After finding success, in 1888 one sister confessed that their rappings had been a hoax and publicly demonstrated their method. Their reputation was ruined and in less than five years they were all dead.

Searchlight Pictures gave their darkly comedic psychological thriller The Menu a theatrical release last month (you can read our review Here and watch our interview with stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult Here), and it has been more successful than I would have expected it to be. It has earned more than 59 million at the worldwide box office. And next month, it’s heading into viewers’ homes. The Menu will be receiving a digital release on January 3rd, with a Blu-ray release to follow on January 17th.
Scripted by Will Tracy (Last Week with John Oliver) and Seth Reiss (Late Night with Seth Meyers), The Menu is set
in the world of eccentric culinary culture, centering on a young couple who visit an exclusive restaurant on a remote island where an acclaimed chef has prepared a lavish tasting menu, with some shocking surprises.

In The Menu, the exclusive experience presented by the remote, destination restaurant Hawthorn is as much about who’s in attendance as the meticulously crafted plates.
As Ralph Fiennes’ chef Julian Slowik eventually reveals, it’s because of what the curated tasting menu explores: the corrosiveness of hunger — for power, relevance, money, love and more — within all its diners brought together for a single, final night.
“We do skew them. They have a pretty rough night,” director Mark Mylod said of the movie’s peeling back of what enticed the guests into Hawthorn’s deadly trap. “But to be honest, I never intended to eat the rich. For me, the story was a genuine character study of flawed people. It was really a genuine exploration of why are they behaving like that? Why are they there? What choices have they made? How have...

Warning: The article below contains major spoilers for "The Menu."
Director Mark Mylod has made a career off of crafting class-conscious comedies that bitingly remind audiences of the absurd lengths people travel to obtain status, wealth, and social clout. "The Menu" serves a similar dish to viewers but with a darker, horrific bent. Although Searchlight Pictures defines the film as a horror comedy, prepare to experience more vengeance than ridiculous boardroom hijinks.
While on the surface — and in the film's opening minutes — the ensemble cast feels like they all own stock in Waystar Royco, harrowing cracks to their sardonic personas emerge soon enough. The terror here isn't learning that these characters, for the most part, are entitled, catty, and impossible to please. What's chilling here is watching the razor-sharp pacing of "The Menu" lead these characters into confessing they've always known who they are and the terrible things they've done:...

What begins as a night of culinary exploration planned by one of the most renowned chefs in the world slowly dissolves into a nightmarish series of mind games intended to give the diners a fully immersive dining experience. The Walking Dead: World Beyond Episode 5
When the Endlings left Campus Colony, they were four kids who didn’t really know each other. Even Hope and Iris, the two sisters, had secrets from one another. Silas kept the secret of why he ended up at Campus. And Elton, the quirky little fellow in the corduroy suit, had secrets of his own. On a show littered with traumatic stories, perhaps none is quite as traumatic as Elton’s, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond puts that trauma, as well as his mother’s manuscript, to great use in explaining Elton’s current character.
One of the things Dan Liu does with his direction, particularly the montage towards the middle of the episode of everyone coming together to build a boat, is get over the importance of pulling together as a team. The kids have been mostly divided,...

In tonight's episode of The Flash, Martin Stein discovered that he now has a daughter who didn't exist before he set off on his adventures with the rest of the Legends. It's likely that his actions in the 1980s are what caused her creation, but Deadline reveals that Christina Brucato is now set to take on a recurring role in The CW series moving forward. However, what role will she end up playing there? That remains to be seen, but it's interesting that she'll be making more than just the one appearance in Legends of Tomorrow. She doesn't hail from the source material, so there are sadly no clues there. Maybe she'll take on a heroic role or will just play a key part in her father's life, but expect more to be revealed once the "Invasion!" crossover wraps up. Brucato's other credits include 37 and Orange is the New Black.

On March 13th, 1964, a woman named Kitty Genovese was stabbed to death outside of her apartment building in Kew Gardens, New York. As reported by the New York Times, 37 neighbors reportedly witnessed the murder and did not intervene. The story became emblematic of the “bystander effect,” a social psychology phenomenon that argues the greater the number of bystanders, the less likely it is that any one of them will help a victim in need.

"If you show weakness, people will walk all over you." Do you know the story of Kitty Genovese? A trailer has debuted for the film 37, inspired by the true story of the murder of Kitty Genovese in 1964. The title refers to the 37 people who were witnesses to her rape and murder, yet did nothing to stop it. The film is told entirely from the perspectives of her apathetic neighbors in Queens, who chose not to get involved for fear of unintended consequences. The ensemble cast stars Samira Wiley, Michael Potts, Maria Dizzia, Jamie Harrold, Thomas Kopache, Lucy Martin, Adrian Martinez, Sophia Lillis, Marquise Gary and Christina Brucato as Kitty Genovese. This trailer shows promise, even though it seems so depressing. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Puk Grasten's 37, straight from Vimeo (found via Tmb): 37 is a powerful drama and a fictional account of the night Kitty Genovese was murdered in 1964, Kew Gardens,...

Regner Grasten Film and Game 7 Films on Wednesday announced the ensemble cast for their fictional account of the night Kitty Genovese was murdered in 1964.
Samira Wiley (pictured), Michael Potts, Christina Brucato, Jamie Harrold, Maria Dizzia, Evan Fine, Thomas Kopache, Sophia Lillis, Lucy Martin and Adrian Martinez are among the cast.
Puk Grasten makes his feature directorial debut and wrote the screenplay, based on his Slamdance 2013 short of the same name.
The film explores the lives of a group of families living in the Kew Gardens area of Queens in the 1960s who do not intervene when they witness the murder of 28-year-old Kitty Genovese, to be played by Brucato.
Asger Hussain and Yaron Schwartzman of Game 7 Films produce and the executive producers are Regner Grasten and Tove Grasten of Regner Grasten Film. New Danish Screen, the new talent section under The Danish Film Institute, co-funds the project.
