- Walter Bobbie was born on November 18, 1945 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA. He is an actor and director, known for The First Wives Club (1996), Thinner (1996) and One Life to Live (1968).
- Won Broadway's 1997 Tony Award as Best Director (Musical) for a revival of "Chicago." He has also been twice nominated for Best Book (Musical): in 1994 for "A Grand Night for Singing," and in 1999, with Dean Pitchford, for "Footloose."
- He was awarded the 1998 Back Stage Garland Award for Outstanding Direction for "Chicago" at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
- He was nominated for a 1998 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Director of the 1997 season for Chicago.
