Andersson also appeared in Fanny and Alexander (1982), Bergman's last film. After that she has appeared in a number of feature films and TV series in Sweden. - Harriet Andersson came to Malmö Stadsteater and met Ingmar Bergman in 1953. Her career is strongly tied to Bergman. Especially her film career in which she often appeared as strong, independent women, not rarely from the working class, with an erotic charisma. Andersson got her breakthrough with the title role in Summer with Monika (1953). Later she combined roles on the stage and on the big screen, and after 1968 chiefly at The Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm.
