NBC’s The Voice Season 24 features country superstar Wynonna Judd as the Mega Mentor during Knockout week. We love seeing Judd in the spotlight, as she’s an icon — and she’ll certainly help her friend, Reba McEntire, with the upcoming weeks. Unfortunately, Judd’s daughter, Grace Kelley, was in jail in 2023 after being released from prison in 2022. Here’s why.
Why was Wynonna Judd’s daughter, Grace Kelley, in jail in 2023?
Wynonna Judd’s daughter, Grace Kelley, is known for her legal troubles. She was arrested in June 2016 and charged in 2017 for methamphetamine manufacture, delivery, sale, and possession with intent. At the time, she was sentenced to 11 months in jail, but the sentence was suspended. She then could serve the sentence on probation after spending 30 days in jail. By June 2017, she continued the sentence at a court-ordered drug recovery program. However, by 2018, she was sentenced to eight years at...

The tragic deaths of “Euphoria” actor Angus Cloud and Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor are only the latest stark reminders of Hollywood’s prevalent mental health and suicide crisis.
Although, as of this writing, neither has been officially determined to have died by suicide, both had been open about their struggles with mental health.
After every high-profile suicide, such as “Breaking Bad” actor Mike Batayeh, country singer Naomi Judd and “So You Can Think You Can Dance” judge Stephen “tWitch” Boss, the question is debated whether the industry, as a whole, has done enough to support people who may be in crisis.

A number of mental health experts told TheWrap that although suicides among the general population rose during the pandemic, people who work in entertainment can be particularly vulnerable.

More than ever, rock stars were TV stars in 2023 — in the form of subjects for television documentaries — and so were their brethren in pop, hip-hop, K-pop and Latin music. Some of these TV films or docuseries were vanity projects used to promote new albums, of course; others started off as “making of” projects and ended up catching a star in a moment of real psychological crisis. It wasn’t all cinema verité; historical overviews capturing the full breadth of an artist’s career or even a genre still had their place in the pop-doc landscape.
Four films or limited series stand out in the subgenre of docs that were initially commissioned to capture an album or tour and, through circumstances, evolved into something deeper or darker. “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me” (Apple TV+) was going to be a tour documentary, but then, when an emotional breakdown caused her to pull off the road,...

In an ultimate show-must-go-on moment in country music history, Wynonna Judd was not about to let the legacy of the Judds slip quietly into the sunset, rather than go out as spectacularly as intended, after her mother, Naomi Judd, died by suicide in April 2022. The singer is celebrating her 55th birthday, her first without her mother Naomi Judd, who died last year.
Reflecting on the past year, Judd shared a somber post to Instagram.
“My birthday. Everyone who loves me is making it as soft (cake in bed) and precious as they can, as my mind can’t help but calculate that on my last birthday, Mom was a scant 11 days from her death by crushing suicide,” she began the post.

Ashley Judd grew up in the spotlight. As the daughter of the iconic country music singer Naomi Judd, she was raised with an understanding of fame. And she has had to navigate her own way through the trials and tribulations of life as a media sensation. Still, Judd developed early on a sense of what her own needs were. Over the years, Judd has opened up about why she has chosen not to have children of her own. Instead, she prefers to focus her attention on orphaned and underprivileged youth.

Wynonna Judd told Et on Sunday that her return to the CMT Music Awards is “bittersweet,” adding that she would use this weekend’s award ceremony as an opportunity to help others struggling with their mental health.
During her performance of “I Want To Know What Love Is” with Ashley McBryde, Wynonna pointed to the sky and said, “Mama, you need to be here.”
Wynonna and her late mother, Naomi Judd, delivered their first TV performance in two decades at last year’s CMTs. The performance turned out to be the duo’s final one together; Naomi died by suicide weeks later.

“It’s a bittersweet time,” Wynonna continued, adding that her granddaughter will turn one later this month.

Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will be a streaming event for the first time on the Netflix YouTube channel. One of the highlights each year is the special In Memoriam segment. It’s been a particularly rough year with over 100 deaths of prominent actors and actresses who were likely members of SAG/AFTRA. Show producers typically are able to include approximately 40-50 people in a tribute.
Among that group will certainly be Oscar winners Louise Fletcher, William Hurt and Irene Cara, plus nominees Angela Lansbury (a SAG life achievement recipient) and Melinda Dillon. Emmy champs Mary Alice, Kirstie Alley, Leslie Jordan, Ray Liotta, Stuart Margolin, Robert Morse and Barbara Walters.

Strickland, who married Judd in 1989, is speaking out about mental health in a bid to reduce the stigma surrounding it. Judd committed suicide at age 76 on April 30 of this year.
