This article contains spoilers for Psych.
It’s easy to forget sometimes that Psych is a show that often involves murder. The procedural comedy-drama is well known for its running gags, irreverent humor, and the absurd scenarios that faux psychic Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez) and his best friend/crime-solving partner Gus (Dulé Hill) often found themselves in, all of which can overshadow the seriousness of the crimes they’re trying to solve. However, the series proves it’s worthy of the drama genre descriptor more often than we realize when it allows itself to go to darker places than we expect.
The most obvious example of this in the series is the Yin/Yang arc. Shawn and Gus go up against these serial killers several times throughout the series, and often find themselves and those they care about directly in harms’ way. Like many serial killers, Yin (Peter Weller...

Best known for playing Alice Cullen in the film adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels, Ashley Greene’s casting was met with controversy among fans as she is 7 inches (18 cm) taller than her character, as described in the novel.

Response to Fan Expectations
In an interview with MTV in March 2008, Ashley addressed the criticism. “Uh, that’s the biggest complaint about me actually; I’m 5-foot-5. I’m much, much taller than Alice is described, but who is 4-foot-10 anyways?”
“Well, when I read the book, I could see that, and she’s the actress that Stephenie put on her site and said, ‘This is what I think she looks like in my head,’ so that’s natural that everyone else would have...

Hallmark's latest holiday film drops Thursday, December 7, on Hallmark Movies Now, reminding us to be cautious of what we wish for.
Rescuing Christmas follows a woman overwhelmed with the holidays, so she wishes it would disappear. When she's filled with wish regret, she needs to bring it back, and she turns to an unlikely ally: her recent blind date and her brother-in-law's friend Sam.
Rachael Leigh Cook and Sam Page star in this holiday rom-com, and neither is a stranger to the Hallmark franchise.
Cook has had the perfect blend of comedy and romance since she appeared in She's All That 25 years ago, and she still rocks it when she reaches the end of her rope and then tries to fix things.
If you ask anyone, they'll confirm that planning for Christmas is as overwhelming as it is joyous. You need to buy all the presents, do the holiday baking,...

Copland was supposed to be Sylvester Stallone’s comeback movie. Despite earning decent box office and generating Sly’s best reviews in decades, it seemed to be the final nail in his coffin as a leading man, and I don’t understand why. Before Copland, Stallone was headlining huge action movies like Daylight and Judge Dredd, and while they underperformed domestically and overseas, they were still big. One would think that Stallone would have been given an old-school action film to revive his career, but all of a sudden, he was slotted into cheap movies, such as the slasher thriller D-tox, which is also called Eye See You. That movie was so bad that it went direct-to-video, which pretty much meant the end of Stallone’s career for half a dozen years until he managed a major comeback with Rocky Balboa. It would get pretty dire for Sly, but Warner Bros...

Rosario Dawson’s starring role in Disney+’s Ahsoka, premiering Aug. 22 and based on a character from Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is not her first time bringing an animated figure to life — she played bassist Valerie Brown in Universal-MGM’s Josie and the Pussycats, the directorial debut of Can’t Hardly Wait screenwriters Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan.
Based on the Archie Comics series that spawned the 1970s cartoon, the 2001 film centers on a female pop-rock group plucked from obscurity in Riverdale. Tara Reid, then 24, was cast first as drummer Melody Valentine following her turn in American Pie. Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That), 19, nabbed the part of frontwoman Josie McCoy over Zooey Deschanel and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
For Val, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds — who produced the gold-selling soundtrack — encouraged the filmmakers to consider a music star, and Aaliyah, TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Beyoncé were among those to audition.

Rib Hillis and Rachel Cook, in Kill Shot. Courtesy of Well Go USA Entertainment
There have been forests full of “thrillers” in which one or more people go for a woodsy getaway only to find that they’re pursued by one or more bad guys, just for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Kill Shot is another, and it’s nowhere near the top of that heap. It’s not even the best among several previous films bearing the same title.
Two ex-models, Rachel Cook (not Rachel Leigh Cook) and Rib (not a typo) Hillis star respectively as a woman who wants to hunt moose and spread her father’s ashes in the rough terrain of Montana as a tribute to him. Hillis plays her guide. She’s beautiful; he’s ruggedly handsome and his wife just dumped him for spending too much time in the boonies,...

Vietnam — where Netflix’s new romantic comedy A Tourist’s Guide to Love, starring Rachel Leigh Cook, Scott Ly and Ben Feldman, was filmed — is reigniting interest in traveling to the country, long a beloved destination of foodies and nature lovers.
Feldman — who recently shared his Vietnam travel diary with THR — visited Hoi An in central Vietnam and savored his stay at Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An (from $855 a night). “Hoi An is just the most charming city on planet Earth. It has this Venetian-style canal going through it, and at night, when the sun goes down, they light all these beautiful lanterns and make wishes on them and set them off into the water. I would go back to Hoi An in a second,” says Feldman.

I went to Vietnam in spring 2022 to film A Tourist’s Guide to Love while the country was still closed to Westerners [because of the pandemic], so it was really special. It felt like we were kind of sneaking in. I love Rachael Leigh Cook, and this is a passion project for her. She was producing and starring in it, and she reached out asking if I’d be willing to come to Vietnam for a little bit. I didn’t ask any other questions.
The movie itself is very much a love letter to Vietnam. People there were very excited it was opening back up and there was a movie shooting there. Our crew — by and large Vietnamese and a really, really great group of people — hadn’t worked in two years. Everybody tells you before you go to Vietnam that they’re just the nicest, greatest people, but it’s still surprising to see how true that is.

Although Shawn Ryan‘s “The Night Agent” has been dominating Netflix’s charts since it began streaming – it’s currently Netflix’s fifth-highest English language series ever – it received hearty fresh competition this week from “The Diplomat.” The new series starring Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell managed to surpass “The Night Agent” with 57.5 million hours viewed globally. Read on for the Netflix Top 10 (Week of April 17) viewing chart analysis.
“The Diplomat” made it into the Top 10 in 86 countries last week, including over 15 territories in first place, but the #1 series in the United States and Canada was still the fourth season of reality series “Love is Blind,” which had 39.5 million hours viewed around the season finale reunion special. The Ali Wong–Steven Yeun dark comedy “Beef” continued to find viewers in third place with 42.8 million hours viewed, as the #1 show in Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Bahrain.

Disney maintained its lead on all VOD charts, now with a different title. “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” replaced “Avatar: The Way of Water” (both $19.99) as #1 after a four-week run that arrived 100 days after its theatrical debut. “Quantumania” had a 60-day delay after its disappointing $213 million domestic box office. Both films stand apart from the recent norm of home play before 31 days.
No word yet when “John Wick: Chapter 4” (Lionsgate), “Air” (MGM), or most importantly “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” (Universal) will make the leap. “Super Mario Bros.” might be available within two weeks (based on the 31-day window established in 2020 by the just-ousted NBC/Universal CEO Jeff Shell). Any of those films might prevent “Quantumania” from establishing more than a two-week run at #1.
One other new film entered the three lists, which reflected 14 titles among the 30 slots. Sundance Grand Prize winner “A Thousand and One” (Focus) grossed under...

Rachael Leigh Cook and Missi Pyle share the screen in Netflix’s A Tourist’s Guide but 22 years ago they both starred in Josie and the Pussycats.
Cook was the leader of the music group Josie McCoy while Pyle played the role of Alexandra Cabot. The two stars recently recalled their time working together in the 2001 comedy film.
“I remember Missi improvising things that made all of us absolutely cry laughing,” Cook told Tudum about her costar. “An especially brilliant moment from her is when my character is having a big revelation about the conspiracy that is afoot, and Missi completely steals the scene by paying attention to nothing I’m saying and silently sneaking up behind me, plucking a hair from my head and inspecting it. I remember watching playback on the monitor absolutely in awe.”
Pyle noted that her character just “wanted to be any of the Pussycats.

Netflix’s featherweight A Tourist’s Guide to Love follows a familiar arc, but there’s more to fall for in classics from Summertime to The Green Ray
There’s nothing new under the sun in A Tourist’s Guide to Love – though there’s an awful lot of that sun, brightening every postcard shot in this featherweight Netflix romcom, and for viewers starved of warmth after a long, dreary winter, that’s enough of a lure. It follows a familiar arc: reeling from a breakup, a perky travel executive (Rachael Leigh Cook) takes a trip to Vietnam for notional work reasons, only to be swept off her feet by her charming local tour guide (Scott Lý). The film hits every holiday-romance beat you expect, but it hardly needs to shake things up: cinema has a proud and comforting tradition of stories in which a trip somewhere sunny and far away proves...

A Tourist’s Guide to Love is Netflix movie directed by Steven K. Tsuchida and starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Scott Ly.
A romantic comedy for this Friday? A classic for lonely hearts, couples in the throes of romance, or simply sensitive people who want to bring out the tender side of their hearts.
For twisted moviegoers… maybe it’s not the right movie.
A Tourist’s Guide to Love (2023) Movie Review
It’s got everything: girl just out of a breakup meets different and charming guy on an exotic trip (this time to Vietnam). One of those movies that usually serves to show the scenery and, by correctly applying the pre-designed scheme of scenes and situations, can’t go wrong.
It doesn’t go wrong, but don’t expect it to be the Titanic of your life either. It knows it’s a romantic comedy and it knows, logically, that in...

Rachael Leigh Cook has done all that: She’s been a teen breakout star in an iconic high school comedy (“She’s All That”), transitioned to cringe sponsored movies (“Spirit Halloween”), and made the leap to Hallmark Christmas queen (“Tis the Season to Be Merry”). Now, she’s deftly parlayed her everywoman likability into the sweet made-for-Netflix movie “A Tourist’s Guide for Love.”
Yes, “made-for-Netflix” is a category all on its own. While “The Irishman” is considered to be a Netflix Original, “made-for-Netflix” separates the mass-produced movies like the nearly-perfect “Falling for Christmas” and calming background noise of “Murder Mystery 2” from the real Oscar contenders. It’s a sliding scale of quality under the streaming titan’s content umbrella, and Cook’s latest film, “A Tourist’s Guide to Love,” feels like an adaptation of a sweet viral BookTok romance novel — in the best way possible.

By the time the title card drops in “A Tourist’s Guide To Love” (ten minutes in — the Netflix rom-com equivalent of the 40-minute wait in “Drive My Car”), we know exactly what we’re in for: The heartbroken heroine at the film’s center is going to experience a life-altering perspective shift via romance when embarking on a work trip. Acting as a travelogue for Vietnam with an adorable romantic comedy happening in the foreground, this sweetly spirited story isn’t terribly dissimilar from the streamer’s other offerings like “Love in the Villa” or “Resort to Love,” sating any viewers suffering from stunted wanderlust. Funny, poignant and simultaneously progressive and regressive, it may not add up to five-star escapism, but it’s a jovial jaunt worth taking.
High-powered Los Angeles travel agent Amanda Riley (Rachael Leigh Cook) is used to going above and beyond for her clientele, but not necessarily for herself.

On April 21, a movie I wrote, "A Tourist's Guide To Love," starring Rachael Leigh Cook, will air on Netflix. The story follows an American woman's journey as she travels through Vietnam, and with the help of her Vietnamese tour guide, learns to follow her heart and find the love she deserves. While it is a work of fiction, the inspiration came from my own real life love story.
My story begins in Barrington, Ri, where I grew up as the youngest of six kids to a Vietnamese mother and a Boston Irish Catholic father. But the real love story goes even further back - to 1968, when my parents met in Saigon. My father, a naval officer and a poet, met my mother one night in a bar in the city through mutual friends.

When The Way Home‘s Kat walked down a staircase in a red dress to the sounds of Sixpence None The Richer’s “Kiss Me” in Episode 5, it was hardly the first time her portrayer Chyler Leigh had paid homage to the iconic scene from the ’90s teen movie classic She’s All That.

One of the most eagerly anticipated series of the spring is coming to Netflix on April 6. Ali Wong and Steven Yeun star in “Beef” as strangers involved in a road-rage incident. But rather than let insurance sort it out, the two drivers morph into lunatics bent on revenge, resulting in increasingly harrowing — and hilarious — circumstances.

More than just a meme, on April 13, Netflix unveils limited series “Florida Man,” which follows a struggling ex-cop (played by Edgar Ramírez) forced to return to his home state of Florida to find a Philly mobster’s runaway girlfriend. What should be a quick gig becomes a wildly spiraling journey into buried family secrets and an increasingly futile attempt to do the right thing in a place where so much is wrong.

Also coming to Netflix in April will be the final chapter of “Firefly Lane.

"This trip has shown me that I wasn't actually lost, I just wasn't where I was supposed to be." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for A Tourist's Guide to Love, a new adventure romantic comedy from Netflix arriving for streaming later in April. This is half a Vietnamese production, as it is set in Vietnam when a woman heads there to learn about the tourist industry. Along the way she finds adventure and romance with her Vietnamese expat tour guide when they decide to reroute the tour bus in order to explore life and love off the beaten path. Of course it's a sweet story about love and about travel and how gorgeous a place like Vietnam is – criticizing the tourism industry while it's also inviting everyone to hey, come over and visit the country. When news broke last month that Freddie Prinze Jr. was to potentially reprise his role as Ray Bronson in the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” franchise, it was the actor’s first time finding out about the so-called project.
In February, reports began circulating that a sequel to the 1997 and 1998 horror flicks was in the works with Prinze Jr. and co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt “in talks” to reprise their roles as Bronson and Julie James, respectively.
However, while the 47-year-old actor was recently promoting his new horror movie podcast “That Was Pretty Scary”, he revealed he had no clue about the project until his name began to appear in headlines.
He thinks the announcement was “leaked” by the production company in efforts to “get people hyped about their movie.”

One of my favorite things to do is drop the most random, bizarre fact I can remember into a normal conversation during a social event. Don't worry -- these facts are never Nsfw, because I'm a classy lady with standards, but they're certainly weird. One of my favorite facts to use in these situations is that M. Night Shyamalan helped co-write the 1999 rom-com classic "She's All That." I make sure to specify that the film came out in 1999, because that was the same year "The Sixth Sense" came out. Need I say more?
I've gotten some pretty funny reactions to this information. As a result, I often get asked to what extent he wrote the film, and my response was that he ghost wrote the film, attributing it to R. Lee Fleming Jr. instead. Besides, that's what Shyamalan seemed to imply in an archived 2013 interview. As it turns out, however,...

“Sam & Kate” is a family affair, which is essentially the entire conceit for the film’s existence. Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek play Bill and Tina, while Jake Hoffman and Schuyler Fisk (Spacek’s daughter with production designer Jack Fisk) play their respective kids, Sam and Kate. It’s the story of young adults and their challenging relationships with their quirky aging parents, fumbling toward a kind of grace in spite of their pasts.
The appeal of the film is its gimmick: watching two legendary actors who defined New Hollywood in the 1970s playing parents to their own children and the unique chemistry that comes from that. It also helps that the kids look a lot like their parents.
But Hoffman and Fisk aren’t carbon copies of their parents, and neither have their careers. Both have been acting since childhood, but Hoffman has gone the indie route, having directed the feature “Asthma,...
