- This is a career which is rife with disappointments and rejections, and you sort of have to come to terms with that early on if you're going to survive emotionally. I've always worked, so there was never a reason to say, 'I'm going to walk away from all this.'
- [on Late Night with Conan O'Brien (1993)] I'm a slut!
- [on her decision to pose for Playboy] I'm a great fan of nude art. I'm also proud of my body. I like being naked. I was given complete control of the shoot. That was essential. I knew I wanted to have children so I realized I'd better get my nude pictures out there before I had a baby and my body changed. This is my permanent record of the way things were once with my body. The reaction I got from my Playboy pictures was very positive and it made me feel good, so that translates into a very positive experience.
- The great thing about being a woman is we can hide it when we're aroused, or when we're not.
- If you need to have the next 10 years mapped out, this is not the profession to be in.
- I have a long body of history to draw from in terms of- I've made every mistake in the book. There's a lot of advice I can give. Not to sweat and really how to not be so horribly judgmental on oneself. And trusting instincts and all the stuff that I can draw on from experience, and then pass on, hopefully making things a little easier for other people.
- [on Bosch: Legacy (2022)] I was talking to producers about my character being killed during the last season of Bosch (2014), and was so excited to find out there was new life! I cried, hearing the news!
- [asked if she's friends with her exes] My husband and I've been together for 33 years now. So it's almost hard to go back that far!
- [When asked about sacrifices she had to make for her career] It’s hard to even treat them as sacrifices, but for my family,, there were a number of years especially when my kids were smaller where there were certain jobs that I just wasn't going to consider, like in terms of doing a TV series. I would certainly always be open to the idea of doing a TV series, but not if it meant moving to Canada or moving to Atlanta or I wasn't going to uproot my kids and take them out of school and Los Angeles. So, I imposed certain limitations on myself that way, particularly when they were very young. Like, if there was a movie that was going to take me away for three months to some place very far away, I just couldn't do it.
- [When asked about spirituality] I do consider myself spiritual. I feel strongly that you tend to get out of life and the world what you've put into it. It's all interconnected.
