- DirectorYorgos LanthimosStarsEmma StoneMark RuffaloWillem DafoeAn account of the fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter.10/10, this is another yorgos lanthimos banger. When you think youve seen everything, yorgos fucking flashbangs you with kino. It's steampunk genius and yorgos smart. It's hilarious and disturbing. The performances however being intentionally "held-back" still show so much emotion and communication yet still have his distinct style; they are also some of the best of the year despite this "limitation." I'd think based on the trailer the visuals wouldn't be as strong but in context they help make the tone and the message of the whole film a lot more succinct. I think there isn't one thing that lacks in this film due to the professionals at the helm and because of that I can clearly see what it's trying to convey. Sure it's very bizarre but it knows it is: indicated by the visuals, the odd and plucky soundtrack, unconventional way of storytelling and acting. If you wished for a movie that is totally unique by a Will Smith looking-ass genie then this is really that monkeys paw (in a good way). The sets really add to the character too and not really knowing what specific time period it is creates this weird unease and prison theme they were going for (being trapped or jailed is a very common theme in this film). This is a movie everyone will remember and look on fondly later with the other greats this year despite noone talking about it as much. One of the best directors working today and if he didn't already get my top spot in 2017, then this year would be his time. The message about women sexuality and what it means to be a women/human really mesh well without it being shoved down your throat. As always yorgos adds a lot depth and asks a lot of questions worthy of asking and discussing. To me, he's the closest thing we have to Stanley Kubrick since Stanley Kubrick. If I was a beginner in his filmography I'd probably start with the lobster, this, or especially the favorite (I'd recommend all of his movies anyway though, even the Alps which I thought was just aight.) Seriously, they need to bring this to BluRay NOW. Support this man and the cast and BUY people!
- DirectorJonathan GlazerStarsChristian FriedelSandra HüllerJohann KarthausAuschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his wife Hedwig strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden beside the camp.10/10, this and Poor Things are tied for best picture and despite both being vastly different tone and especially story wise, they on the other hand share strong arguments for politics like feminism and complacency. The gaza shit really strikes even more and with how well done this movie on sound, I am then reminded those sounds were real and they are happening right now. Brilliant movie, so much to interpret. The sound design is top tier, there's no on screen murder yet you feel it all around you; close or far. The design and world fit between this terrifying reality. Even the walls cant keep the ash from coming through. The nighttime camera scenes were A-PLUS caliber. Every scene having a purpose, including the ones with cleaning in the current age. Watch and keep this movie close, it's happening right now. STFU ELI ROTH, YOU'VE ONLY HAVE MADE LIKE ONE GOOD MOVIE AND IT'S DEBATABLE WHETHER THAT WAS YOUR DOING.
- DirectorCeline SongStarsGreta LeeTeo YooJohn MagaroNora and Hae Sung, two deeply connected childhood friends, are wrested apart after Nora's family emigrates from South Korea. Twenty years later, they are reunited for one fateful week as they confront notions of love and destiny.10/10, an intimate look at a complex relationship. this was a real meditation that felt like an actual peep into these people's lives. Its interesting and laidback approach led to where the slow-burn nature didn't bother me actually and felt pretty brisk by the time it ended. I also loved how time was distinguished between the early 2000's and now. Some movies and shows that have the luxury of taking it's time right now have no idea how hard it is to mingle the past 20 years into a concise story for people that doesn't feel forced. Only the best really do and that shows here. Not only did the cinematography had a purpose besides look pretty, it showed their relationship in a way where you could interpret it without sound. Next the acting is UP THERE. This is a phenomenal example of subtle acting where the performances don't tilt on just yelling. It's with a look or a stare or just a little sentence. I am so far not caught up on all the things I want to see this year but this might be my favorite or at least so far as October 19th, my second rewatch.
- DirectorVasilis KatsoupisStarsWillem DafoeGene BervoetsEliza StuyckNemo, a high-end art thief, is trapped in a New York penthouse after his heist doesn't go as planned. Locked inside with nothing but priceless works of art, he must use all his cunning and ingenuity to survive.high9/10, possibly the most underrated this year. I really loved the monotonous approach of "survival" this was doing, the way the camera and sound design meshed with either the heat or cold added to the thick atmosphere and mystery of it all. while I'm talking about the camera may I add it was shot magnificently too; made this apartment and this small patch of New York gorgeous. The music itself was used sparingly but appropriately with what the visuals set up. Not like it's the most memberable movie scores but it did the job imo. Besides that, the main theme of the story really went into what was shown as all the art around him became meaningful and meaningless at the same time. It captured 2020 well in that regard ;) I feel people are missing the point too. It's not a literal tale of survival guys. That's not the point. And as always the incredible Willem Dafoe does an astounding job. A little reminiscent of the Lighthouse. THAT'S GOOD. at least give it a chance. Loved it, will be seeing it again when I am ready. have seen it twice since.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsLeonardo DiCaprioRobert De NiroLily GladstoneWhen oil is discovered in 1920s Oklahoma under Osage Nation land, the Osage people are murdered one by one - until the FBI steps in to unravel the mystery.low9/10, wow what a beast of a movie. For an almost four hour film, this kept my attention the whole time (besides 2 bathroom breaks which I really couldn't hold). Can't really say one scene was not important or vital to the story. And what a story it is. I picked a good crowd to watch it too because the way they would react to these situations were so entertaining, really made the twists and turns that much better. The way it ended also gave weight to the reality. kind of joking about the true crime nature of this country that turns these real life heinous actions into subject matter. Next it's also BEAUTIFUL. I love how it was shot and loved how much thought went into it and it's movement. A lot with how it's shot also strengthened character motivations and themes. The acting, especially from Lily Gladstone, Deniro mostly and Dicaprio did the best with bringing these real people to life. This isn't a dig btw but the main character is probably martin scorsese's most VIAL, most contemptible yet. It might be the quarter indian (not much at all I know but knowing some people who are full blown gives me agita) that's angry in me but the way this character would do bad things then justify it and feel bad afterward was akin to bojack horseman and just like with him, I got sick of it like the characters did (more here because this was based on REAL people who probably believed the same thing). Some for a reason said Dicaprio's performance was bad but I disagree, he play's a sniveling two-timing weasel to the T and that makes his failed redemption and rejection from his wife that more satisfying, at least to me.
- DirectorAri AsterStarsJoaquin PhoenixPatti LuPoneAmy RyanFollowing the sudden death of his mother, a mild-mannered but anxiety-ridden man confronts his darkest fears as he embarks on an epic, Kafkaesque odyssey back home.first watch: high6-low7/10 his weakest film but nonetheless is great overall. definitely the hardest out of the three to tell what's going on as it really needs your attention in that regard. It starts feeling like you have to unravel what this mans nightmare and anxiety means while his real self is on the surface. Kind of like if Ari Aster was making a lynch film. besides that I really really enjoyed how this looked. The acting carried a lot and if the performance wasn't there then itd would probably be just eh. The music is fitting but the cues sometimes aren't. The story was engaging for the most part. A little long too though. The first and third acts were way better than the slow second. But it does enough for me to buy and enjoy interpreting and put it somewhere on the list. WATCH THIS ON MOTHERS DAY PLS AND WATCH FOR A SECOND TIME.
second watch: high7-low8/10: I have more to say and that is for a three hour movie it does keep you engaged and like his other films the beginning goes into the end if you pay attention. The first and third acts are still a blast but the second is still kinda slow but I liked it regardless now knowing what was ahead and what to look out for.
third watch: high8/10: okay this movie is awesome. still unsure about the second act but, still, this is a great movie. Usually never do these ratings go high up that fast but this intrigued me to watch it a second time the first I saw it. I was just unsure of the details of a non-spoiled first watch. Not like you can spoil this really easy anyway but I should have known something was there. Kind of like my experience with Taxi Driver though that went from a 7 to a 10 rather than a 6 to a 8. - DirectorJustine TrietStarsSandra HüllerSwann ArlaudMilo Machado-GranerA woman is suspected of murder after her husband's death; their half-blind son faces a moral dilemma as the main witness.high8/10, this is incredible. It asks and presents really hard questions about relationships, about justice, about trust and how facts look from the outside. It also talks about gender roles. This is just a smart as smart can get when it comes to true crime cinema. The dilemma is also a conundrum and makes the stakes even higher. The acting is real and thought out. The writing and especially with how it's shot were also huge staples in why this is so good. usually court room dramas are hard to make interesting and usually only the best can pull it off. that was done here.
- DirectorJoaquim Dos SantosKemp PowersJustin K. ThompsonStarsShameik MooreHailee SteinfeldBrian Tyree HenryMiles Morales catapults across the multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero.8/10, this may be better than the first but I have to see a second time to make sure. Of course it's strong suit is it's visuals but the story and character came together in a way that felt both natural and genuine.
- DirectorDanny PhilippouMichael PhilippouStarsAri McCarthyHamish PhillipsKit Erhart-BruceWhen a group of friends discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, they become hooked on the new thrill, until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.high8/10, holy shit is this good. beyond a drug metaphor, this strikes at so many issues in a realistic (at least with this concept being a reality) would bring. Not just that but real issues too. And it does NOT hold back. Reminded me of Hereditary a bit and hey, that's a good thing. Main example being the main character played by Sophie Wilde. She does what A-listers dream of. The others also do a really really good job too playing demon possessed versions of themselves and the makeup was the mark of true professionals. Hard to think this came from youtubers. The use of color was also noticeable and nice as it matched with how the characters were feeling and what it meant to what was happening. The camera movements and editing were well-done and snappy, helping extenuate moments of possession and montage. And the story was engaging, beginning to end. This in summation adds to a very concretely astonishing movie worthy of it's praise and eyebrow raising. Forgot to mention the sound design is enriched with punctual, sharp and gross noises I was impressed they had all these details on their first outing making a movie. SEE IT
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsCillian MurphyEmily BluntMatt DamonThe story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in the development of the atomic bomb.high8-low9/10, so I weirdly choose Barbie first before seeing this and I wish I didn't because now I have existential dread mixed with female joy instead of beaming joyful existentialism. IM LIKE BARBIE. Anyway, first, I loved the performances and how it looked. The whole movie has this sheen that just felt like a master at work. The aspect ratio, the composition, the blocking: phenomenal stuff. While a bit confusing at first I did eventually get what was being conveyed, this is like an action movie with words and with so much of them it's hard to keep track sometimes (nothing that can't be fixed when bought so you get those subtitles.) The black and white have a meaning too so interpreting became fun and you almost had to become an emotion detective, trying to figure out this guys intentions and moral compass versus what he feels, etc.. Nex, the music is a huge staple to his character and what importance this has as to the world. it creeps in so well I sometimes forget it's there. it hangs on every word with precision. I do have a slight problem with it being in 90% of the movie kinda but without it it'd be massively gutted. I'll see for a second time to confirm but the runtime seemed acceptable. Really there was not much wrong with this. I loved the editing, I loved the acting, the directing was top notch. Nolans best in quite some time.
- DirectorWes AndersonStarsJason SchwartzmanScarlett JohanssonTom HanksFollowing a writer on his world famous fictional play about a grieving father who travels with his tech-obsessed family to small rural Asteroid City to compete in a junior stargazing event, only to have his world view disrupted forever.low8/10, different from his other films in that it takes it's time, a bit dry and is led up to interpretation. I loved every scene especially including the ones with Scarlett Johansson. Just a fun blast compared to every other thing out there. The location was awesome, maybe the music was a bit repetitive but it didn't bother me too much. A piece of art about art nad how we reflect on the past kinda. The reveal of a certain something was awesome and left a lasting impression of what to interpret. If you haven't seen any of his movies I'd check them out first but this isn't a bad first approach.
- DirectorMatt JohnsonStarsJay BaruchelGlenn HowertonMatt JohnsonThe story of the meteoric rise and catastrophic demise of the world's first smartphone.low8/10, the shaky cam and steady cam were used brilliantly. This may not be my favorite Matt Johnson ride but it's still quality overall. The acting is special, the energy is ALIVE, and it's very funny. Don't have much to say besides it's a fun and smart movie. Downsides are that I've kind of seen this type of movie before and in some minor cases done better. Doesn't mean it's bad infact it's awesome but that'd be my main gripe if there was one and you had a nuclear arsenal aimed at my nation. "IM FROM WATERLOO, WHERE THE VAMPIRES HANG OUT". Knowing where this is from and incorporating it so efficiently is why I stan this director and Glen.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsMichael FassbenderTilda SwintonCharles ParnellAfter a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn't personal.low8-high7/10, I absolutely loved the comic-book approach this took and this short follow of a complete psychopath/sociopath? There were some situations where it asked how much it was worth versus the risk, about death itself, and what someone is willing to kill for. This though does make me wish it was longer as this seems pretty surface level on those issues. Like there was build-up sure but what it needed was more context or just more to do with because there isn't that much to emotionally attach to (not that you need that every movie to keep someone engaged but idk you need something). Regardless this is a well beautifully directed, tense, greatly-written thriller that has appropriate acting. I do have two things that could have made it better: it should have been longer or have been made into a short film
- DirectorJames GunnStarsChris PrattChukwudi IwujiBradley CooperStill reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill rallies his team to defend the universe and one of their own - a mission that could mean the end of the Guardians if not successful.low8-high7/10, possibly the best Guardians of the Galaxy though I still rock with the first one very hard. this is so filled with emotion though that it pulls at your heart strings and never stops strumming (gay ass line). Not only that but these are the best looking marvel movies (not surprised as the director is James Gunn who is extremely talented at directing and is really the only director for marvel that is aloud to do things his way) and the most like regular good movies instead of what scorsese says (very true with marvel though). There are more dumb moments in this one than the first but the villain is way better and rememerable so points. We finally got some lore too
- CreatorNeil DruckmannCraig MazinStarsPedro PascalBella RamseyAnna TorvAfter a global pandemic destroys civilization, a hardened survivor takes charge of a 14-year-old girl who may be humanity's last hope.high7-low8/10, gets surprisingly better and better. By the end I respected it and now I'm excited for future episodes. In the beginning I was hesitant but Im fully on board if this is the quality they'll be making. Some of the shots are still over exposed and some of the acting from the girl in the start is iffy but over time improves. Some stuff from the game is exponentially better but there is some scenes where this does better. Excited to see what they do with part 2. Lord knows they need some improving there if they want everyone to be on board
- DirectorEmma SeligmanStarsRachel SennottAyo EdebiriRuby CruzTwo unpopular queer high-school students start a fight club to have sex before graduation.solidtohigh7/10, very very funny and fun. might not be as good as Shiva Baby but Im making comparisons too quick in her career anyway. What I am saying though I am excited to see what's next. Emma Seligman has a unique voice and most importantly: knows how to pitch and shoot a great comedy. Her actors are well versed into their characters and know how to shine, I wouldn't be surprised if some of it was made up: it felt that natural. The script also does some heavy lifting as each zinger is usually met with at least a smirk and a laugh at most. didn't feel all that preachy too. I kind of wish she had more visual flair but I wouldn't want her to lose her style either. Not that it's bad, it's great even at times but I don't know; could have helped imo.
anyway despite that I had a good time. LET'S GO LESBIAN INCELS!11 - DirectorGreta GerwigStarsMargot RobbieRyan GoslingIssa RaeBarbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.high6-low7/10, had an incredibly fun time watching this, especially the beginning where it's mostly vibes until the plot happens. The only thing that sagged in the story was near the ending when they had to pick it up. Other than that it was a good (satire?) I can see pissing off wokescolds and anti-SJW's alike. I don't know when I'll see it again as this was pretty surface level but I will leave it near the bottom of the best of the year. A lot of it is in your face while some of the smaller issues are put to the side which is good for a 90 minute film and doesn't distract say if it was longer. Any-who the sets actually being sets is appreciated and LITERALLY ME Ryan Gosling steals the show. No one not even stepbrothers guy was bad so there's that. The soundtrack was banging THO. that was easily it's best part and picked perfectly. meshes very fine with the visuals. Not a masterpiece but even this movie knows that so whatever. see it!
- DirectorChad StahelskiStarsKeanu ReevesLaurence FishburneGeorge GeorgiouJohn Wick uncovers a path to defeating The High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.low7/10, very fun and as usual, a guilty pleasure... eh at this point it's just pleasure cause this movie kicks ass. see with your dad
- DirectorMike ClumStarsSteven WilliamsJake BarcusMike ClumOnce one of YouTube's most beloved creators; Boogie2988's career took a sharp turn downward in 2019. 4 years later his life is in shambles. This documentary follows Boogie's day-to-day life after losing his marriage, audience, and money.lowtosolid6/10, pretty okay although it doesn't really expand on any issues or go over in depth on anything, not even it's main person. It has enough drama, human connection, comedy and personality to be at least a good debut and it truly is sad as it goes on. The camerawork was eye-catching and the editing were easily the best parts though I've seen better. I don't know, overall good job. You get a C-, C average. That's good your first outing and especially for a youtuber! Will be checking out your next project, also I wish boogie shot Frank and then shot himself
- StarsWilliam B. EvansRick DeslauriersPhillip MartinFollows the tragedy in which terrorists detonated a bomb at the Boston Marathon's finish line; they carried out the attack by placing two homemade pressure-cooker bombs that resulted in three fatalities and numerous injuries.high5-low6/10, alright/good just lacking proper editing, and vision/voice. I'd say all is there to make this presentable but what's not there to make this exceptional is it's editing, music cues and most of all voice and style. It's a really by the numbers documentary and while that's not bad; it is not that great either. Good for one watch and one only really. Interesting source material though and in the proper hands could be awesome but this was not that.
- DirectorDavid F. SandbergStarsZachary LeviAsher AngelJack Dylan GrazerThe film continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!", is transformed into his adult superhero alter ego, Shazam.low5-high4/10, slightly disappointing. Not like the first was a masterpiece or something but it at the very least was a significant somewhat exceptional DC superhero movie akin to Sam Raimi's Spiderman. This is just popcorn filler you'd safely pick with your friends when you want to go to the movies. Which is fine but doesn't have that much staying power in terms of rewatchability or in our culture. The villains were eh, the writing was eh, nothing really wow's me in particular. In the end I was just "okay, that's over" and forgot about it right away.
- DirectorElizabeth BanksStarsKeri RussellAlden EhrenreichO'Shea Jackson Jr.An oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converge on a Georgia forest where a huge black bear goes on a murderous rampage after unintentionally ingesting cocaine.low5-high4/10, was expecting a more fun and campy movie compared to the snoozefest that happened instead. I paid for cocaine bear damnit and all I got was exposition bear. I guess it's better than meth bear. Anyway the CGI was pretty bad and so were the kills (besides the ambulance scene). Also for some reason this movie is covered in this blue and dark color tone that prevents me from seeing a lot of the action. It was like the 2019's Godzilla King of the monsters and some other blue tinted pieces of shit film. I'm just saying I couldn't see most of what was happening. There was also of course some stupid decisions by the characters but it's a horror movie. Yet that's kinda the thing. This movie isn't special in the horror genre. It's setups are plain to see despite me not seeing whats on screen and it does nothing to separate itself from other better movies or even mediocre ones. My advice: dont waste your time.
- DirectorJalmari HelanderStarsJorma TommilaAksel HennieJack DoolanWhen an ex-soldier who discovers gold in the Lapland wilderness tries to take the loot into the city, German soldiers led by a brutal SS officer battle him.lowtosolidtohigh4?maybealow5onagoodday/10, probably the easiest "bad movie" to recommend this year (or at least the very end of last year though it just released now and is on digital) despite me not liking it. It's sort of like Nobody and John Wick in the fact this character doesn't give a fuck besides his gold and victims of the war. Definitely a dad movie. The man in me liked this but the critic found a lot of stupid things happening too. Infact Id rather be watching john wick or nobody cause the violence is much better done there than here and the violence in those movies make much more sense context wise. I don't know this is a pretty surface level movie. There were things about Finland and their strength during the war but like I said it's surface level so don't go in expecting a deep dive into it (would have been more fun too). Someone's OC was put on screen here and that's all that it feels like and hey that's fine. this is like a critical drinker movie he'd gush over in the beginning and by the tail end would call it "WOKE". this is fine and if someone told me they think it's good I wouldn't groan in my head. IDK he's killing nazis, if you don't like that then you aint American.
- DirectorLee CroninStarsMirabai PeaseRichard CrouchleyAnna-Maree ThomasA twisted tale of two estranged sisters whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.high3-low4/10, if you like generic gore or cheesy movies then you'll probably like this. I was never really scared but I'm not scared by much when it comes to the horror genre so it's up to you. I personally thought this movie was dumb, terribly written, has terrible logic, stupid horror, music cues and cliché jump scares. The logic wouldn't bug me so much if they didn't keep doing it and by "it" I mean just standing there while the horror happens. Because it's cheesy and as a horror movie I gave it a lot of leeway but things just kept going on and on with no recourse or even a clue they might be frozen in terror (which is fair once or maybe twice but not all the fucking time) or something else.
"That's not a cat"-say's they/them (I dont remember sorry) as a demon is crawling in the ceiling.
when that happened I lost all respect. That shitty writing should stay in bad marvel movies, not the evil dead.
I could go all day but there is no time. It's pretty bad imo - DirectorAaron HorvathMichael JelenicPierre LeducStarsChris PrattAnya Taylor-JoyCharlie DayA plumber named Mario travels through an underground labyrinth with his brother Luigi, trying to save a captured princess.3/10, agonizing ADHD kid content. a plus would be: this is great for kids, just not adults. Certainly not a good kids films though but whatever. I liked the prisoner kongs and the bowser cum jar and I guess there was a lot of fun locations and references but that's all it was: references. I thought we usually hated those because of family guy. this is that but exclusively for mario and is also PG. EXHAUSTING
- DirectorJustin SimienStarsLaKeith StanfieldRosario DawsonOwen WilsonA single mom named Gabbie hires a tour guide, a psychic, a priest and a historian to help exorcise her newly bought mansion after discovering it is inhabited by ghosts.low3-high2/10, vapid and daft, there's not much cohesion or visual flair to save it from a fair or even score too. I was kind of surprised as I heard some praise saying it's better than the og which needed improving on it's own anyway. I heard it beat Eddie Murphy's performance. Big claims so going in I had low to medium expectations and was just going to give it a fair shot. There was so much to improve over and hearing "they did" made me somewhat excited. I even liked the trailer, made it seem like this film would have good atmosphere. But knowing disney i still had a hunch and that hunch told me disney is lazy and they'll cut corners anywhere. Did that answer turn out being correct? YEAP. Did it beat the original? HUGE NO. whoever saw that and this must have seen something else because this is just terrible Disney fodder. not like the og was great either but at least that had a solid performance from eddie murphy and the dude from Clockwork Orange, okay cinematography. This comes off as lazy point the camera where it needs to go and has some of the most half-baked performances of a life time. It felt like they couldn't scream because they didn't want to wake anyone in the house. the plot follows like a dream and the endless jumpscares never got me once or were at the very least deserved. Ill give that this movie felt like the ride it's based on (a little but even the ride has it's story make sense and is also a lot more fun then watching this) but as a film experience it's pretty boring and without being on the actual ride, it makes it pathetic. While I do mention the OG a lot, it wasn't as great as I thought it was either. But it has something despite being mid. The og stories wasn't top class but I still think it gets to point A to point B a lot more sense wise then here. I know it's a kid film but some of the best kids movies had consequences. Both of these especially the new one don't. Don't see it

Not like I was expecting his best work but I was at least expecting a great drama. The chemistry between the main character and actress was off and probably my biggest complaint despite some of it being intentional, I just didn't get into it because of that. The racing scenes were sick yes but too far inbetween. The plot was generic and I didn't appreciate the finer details this director usually sets up and is usually known for this time around; felt very hollow. The gritty and dirty look just didn't appeal here and contrasted a lot with everything else. I don't know. Just extremely mid and not worth my time. maybe you guys will like it more as it seems okay for crowds, just know at least a quarter of the audience will be like: "gay" and one dude will be like "I thought it was the best movie this year" because he only saw this and FNAF

The acting is probably the best part, then the directing next. The music and humor worked here and there but sometimes I'd feel really bad
tonal whiplash and honestly, the music became extremely overused to the point where it just came off as funny (which I don't know is intentional or not but hey that's what I noticed.) The themes of the film were conveyed well and make for a disturbing uncomfortable time. To say it plainly, this is a wild movie. I do think it'd be massively improved by less music but I should see this twice before coming to that judgement. It's good even maybe great but there are things that hinder the experience at least for me. I do think people should see it and I also do think most people won't even mind the things this does "wrong" compared to me. It's just..... weird and disturbing lol. It belongs on this list, maybe near the middle. After haven an odd relationship with their teacher (nothing overtly sexual), seeing this makes me feel something. - DirectorAki KaurismäkiStarsAlma PöystiJussi VatanenJanne HyytiäinenIn modern-day Helsinki, two lonely souls in search of love meet by chance in a karaoke bar. I always appreciate high concept art and since I loved this directors other film "sick of myself", I've been pumped for what they made next. so when i heard he's teaming up with Nick Cage I fluttered my legs like an anime girl. There tends to be one great performance per year where he actually is in character and this may be one of his best. Not only does this say so much about cancel culture in a way that's actually smart, it say's so much about what people see about you despite that you not being you. STINKER ALERT! this is gigantic oscar bait and should be considered chinese water torture via Bradley Cooper and his giant ego. His acting is awful, he has such weird inflections and mannerisms I thought maybe MAYBE he was just the character he was portraying but if you go look at actual footage, it's like he saw that and was doing an SNL impression that was doing an impression of an idiot instead and not a good one. Him saying he learned conducting solely from looney tunes makes sense because mans just up there throwing his arms around and spinning like the Tasmanian devil except even more retarded. The romance is HEAVILY trite and ineffective as they keep going in circles over the stupidest shit. The plot is eh and despite this guy being interesting irl, here he's just a narcissist Pinocchio. What, Im supposed to be impressed because he wore bags of makeup and did the bare minimum with his performance. GET OUTTA TOWN. there could have been one more oscar nomination to something that actually deserves it and this load of cum waste was the one that got it. see it if you want to experience ego death. I however will be commiting suicide

I could show this to a non-fan of godzilla and they more than likely would enjoy this. Not only is godzillas presence not wasted but so are the human performances and story. while I enjoy a tee-bit more of shin godzilla this still slaps and leaves a hand-printed mark. what is improved is the cgi. IMMENSELY. and with less budget. Learning they did it on a lesser budget really made it more impressive. It looks and feels like a major studio movie. I wish hollywoof would nominate this movie but because it has the name of Godzilla, they probably won't (I WAS WRONG AND IT WON ONE; THERE IS A GOD). While I don't like the setup of another film at the end, I got it and it didn't sour the whole experience. See it.

- DirectorSean DurkinStarsZac EfronJeremy Allen WhiteHarris DickinsonThe true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s.solidtohigh7/10, so a few things. This is probably Zac's best performance and by miles. His quiet tension filled with his boyish timidness helped sell who this guy probably was. In contrast to everything else in his career, it's not even close to what he achieves here which I assume is thanks to the director (himself included yes but I think the reason it stood out so much was because he was given direction for once). His co-stars of course do good but here he shines as a movie star should. Next I think the directing was quite comfy and exemplary though sometimes hiccupped here and there, having some sloppy music and direction choices too. There were also some clitches that made my eyes roll (I don't care if they happened irl, still felt like they could have handled that better). The setting and lighting create this feeling of the time period they are in. I could keep going on its strengths and weaknesses but I'll just end with I really enjoyed this film and will be checking it out again when I can. Deserves a spot somewhere.

From the get-go this movie doesn't hold back or hold your hand. It depicts the harsh reality of trying to live in the frozen tundra of the Alps. From cannibalism to infighting, it doesn't really get one thing wrong about the event it's inspired from. The makeup is noticeably awesome, making them look like frozen starving malnourished thirsty men and adjoining acting is clean and appreciated, really helps sell the environment they are in. It looks great and the plane crash didn't feel like hollywood shaking the camera and a few things on set. I do have some grievances with some choice in editing and points where they put a scene but these grievances aren't enough to spoil a good thing. This is like the Grey but actually good and there's no wolves (apart from themselves).

guilty pleasure: get this. after the first 15 minutes of this Adam Sandler animated movie about Adam Sandler being a lizard and Bill Burr being the straighthead turtle, I thought I'd died and get my colostomy bag sucked up like a goggurt to try and warn about what's ahead. But after those first 15 minutes of cock and ball discipline, the film surprisingly has funny moments and legit advice a kid could need in this world of ours. This film also feels like the writers are seeing how far they can take the meme. There's this one shot and all of leo's faces hang above the school-childrens ones. Gave me tonal whiplash funny, never seen before or at least in 10 years. I still do have points to pick with the plot and some character. I will give this, it's a kids project where they cared at least a little with the finished project. Some of the jokes land and some of the themes to learn are good ones so thank you Adam Sandler, YOURE MY HERO. just don't make any movies about jack n jill ever again and I'll put back my shrine. - DirectorJeff NicholsStarsJodie ComerAustin ButlerTom HardyAfter a chance encounter, headstrong Kathy is drawn to Benny, member of Midwestern motorcycle club the Vandals.
