A Blueberry Scout's Life
A Bug's Life (November 14, 1998) is not one of Pixar's most memorable early productions, but it is still very revolutionary because - while it was the first animated role of Dave Foley, Kevin Spacey, Denis Leary, and Bonnie Hunt, who were all established celebrities before this, A Bug's Life is the first animated role and first movie role for Ashley Tisdale and Hayden Panettiere. They rose to animated stardom as Lead Blueberry Scout and Princess Dot. Before A Bug's Life, they were not very famous because Ashley's biggest role was Kate Lionheart in the MGM Sing-Alongs and Hayden's biggest role was Sarah Roberts in One Life to Live.
While A Bug's Life was not quite a star-making role for them, despite having other big stars from movies (Kevin Spacey, Denis Leary, Roddy McDowall) and TV sitcoms (Dave Foley, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Phyllis Diller, Richard Kind, David Hyde Pierce, Johnathan Harris, Madeline Kahn, Bonnie Hunt, Michael McShane, John Ratzenberger, Brad Garrett, David Lander) surrounding them in the cast, A Bug's Life, being a film from Pixar, was a big stepping stone for them to get bigger on-camera roles in their teen years. They both auditioned to voice Dot, and Ashley still got to have another little but important part.
It is too good that they didn't become too famous for cartoons afterwards like Spencer & Abigail Breslin (who were in Raising Helen with Hayden and knew her before they could talk), because they got to be in a variety of other cartoons and video games after A Bug's Life, like Haley & Emily Osment. As far as child stars of the 1990s go, they were not as famous as Christina Ricci and Elijah Wood either. Ashley Tisdale got to play Candace in the animated series of Phineas and Ferb! If only Hayden Panettiere got to have an animated series as great as that. I think Ashley and Hayden are like two blueberries in a pod.
