{Film} The art form of film/cinema is NOT yet dead! Proven by these films.
These are films that show that great movies are still being made. They prove that well-thought-out craftsmanship is the basis of a good film.
Too many films these days have several major flaws: they are often rushed in pace, or badly scripted, are frequently over-CGI'd, or are just poorly edited. Many times those films lack fully-developed characters, which means the 'people' the viewer is watching come across as devoid of any warmth. This means the viewer does not connect with the characters: a key flaw in the art of any fiction. Many times there is little 'flow' from one scene to another, causing a disjointedness in the plot. Or films are ruined by a variety of other lazy creative measures.
But there is always good to be found elsewhere!! And the movies in this list prove that the art medium of 'film' is not yet at the end of its life. A few good movies can easily outweigh the bad, if they are good enough. And the films listed here ARE that good! There's still a worthwhile purpose in the making of movies! :-)

P.S. To make the use of the term "yet" in the list title (as in "is NOT yet dead") relevant to this list, I have had to limit the contents of this select list to films made after 1980.
I HAD meant to list only films made post-1990 - i.e. films of relative modernity. This was because: (i) "yet" is more apposite if the movie was comparatively recently made, & (ii) IMHO it was from the late-1990s that the quality of many films started to drop.
But a few '80s greats just crept their way ,-) onto the list, so I put the start date of the list back to the beginning of that decade. In fact, just one film from the 1970s is also included on the list: 'Bugsy Malone' (1976). It is so brilliant a movie in concept & delivery that I automatically put it on this list before I remembered it was such an early movie! That is the timelessness & quality of certain films.
