Korean dramas I have seen.
Despite all the clichés that this drama`s throw at you,I still love watching it tho. Maybe it is because of all the romance that this dramas has or it is because it often becomes very sappy very quickly, if it is good.
Meh,I just like it..♥o♥
(Btw, this might be obvious..but spoiler alert)

I really ADORE this drama. Such a bittersweet story..<3 - StarsHa Ji-WonJi Chang-wookOh Gwang-RokA Korea-born warrior girl had to be a servant at the Mongol Yuan court but somehow overcame her low status to become an empress in another land.Favorite historical korean drama.
♥ SO GOOD!! ♥
This was a huge emotional rollercoaster of a watch..I cried so much,I laughed and got angry how some characters acted. It also made me reflect on personal stuff, history or life in general.
And oh,I did end up sympathizing with all the characters or becoming angry on how some acted (the emperor in particular grinded my gears, but not because of the actor..but how the character was.Even then,I ended up symptazing still..)
Got very engaged in the story and for me I did end up thinking about what was happening while watching.
Anyway,it always happens something and some moments almost (not literally ofc) took my breath away..Be warned, this drama is SAD!! Quite a bit of sorrow and heartbreak..T_T
Excellent actors, excellent ost and excellent script.
Thoroughly enjoyable. So much that when I was finished the 51 ep,I missed watching it. - StarsKim Soo-hyunSeo Ye-jiOh Jung-seAn extraordinary road to emotional healing opens up for an selfish antisocial children's-book writer and a selfless psych-ward caretaker when they cross paths.I really REALLY enjoyed this one.
(And it may look like Soo-hyun Kim might end up being my favorite male korean actor. Not sure as of yet, cause I will have to see more of what he has played in. But so far, I am really impressed by his acting abilities)
This show surprised me quite a lot and hit home in some of the more heart wrenching scenens. I feel this is not your typical k-drama. It tells a love story,yes..BUT it has a very strong focus on mental health awareness that I have only seen in 2 other k-shows before.-(where one of them.. kind of felt wrong in a way)..and it is handled respectfully.
This whole drama had me hooked ♥
Ah..lets not forget the chemistry between the actors (all of them, not only the main ones),the outfits of the female lead (♥), the cinematography is superb (and oh, the animations..loved them) and lastly the ost..♥_♥..the songs are really good ^_^
If you like a more dark korean drama that treats mental health more seriously but also has humorous side to it and maybe makes you think and reflect..Watch this one.
10/10,would recommend. - StarsSung Dong-ilLee Kwang-sooJin KyungA love story between a psychiatrist named Ji Hae Soo and an author who had schizophrenia named Jang Jae Yeol. It's Okay, That's Love
Ooooo MY goodness. This one have become a favorite of mine very quickly ♥ It warmed my heart a lot and had a feel good side, but with a quite serious undertone. ♥♥♥
Too be able to humanize mental-illness in a respectful manner and to be able to show the very painful side to both the sufferer and the people around them..it is something to praise quite high. Not even series/movies set in places where mental health is not that looked down upon as it is in South-Korea (my impression ,fyi) are able to walk that line in a good way.
Was able to sympathize with almost all of the characters and the female lead did mature herself during the episodes, witch is always a joy to see.
Did not either throw a storm of clichés at you, witch was a good change of pace in a k-drama.
Love this one a WHOLE lot ♥♥♥
Up there for me with -It is ok to not be okay- witch is my fav-k-drama together with My love from another Star and Empress Ki..♥
Highly recommend -nod nod- - StarsGong YooKim Go-eunLee Dong-wookIn his quest for a bride to break his immortal curse, Dokkaebi, a 939-year-old guardian of souls, meets a grim reaper and a sprightly student with a tragic past.I so MUST watch this again..Not sure when, but in half a year at least..something tells me this will end up being a favorite drama of mine. But I need to watch this a second time to be sure..
So from my initial thoughts on this one is:
Its awesome. The end. - StarsSo Ji-seobShin Min-aJung Gyu-woonA lawyer in her thirties coming out of a long relationship decides to regain her figure and health after meeting a renowned personal trainer who obsesses with leading a healthy lifestyle after suffering a serious injury in his childhood.Oh my goodness, this is such a CUTE drama ♥ It has excellent actors and ooo it also really funny.I enjoyed myself very much while watching it ^^
Also a big plus for me is that it did not shy away from one part that a LOT of, if not all k-dramas I have seen so far..and that is sex and lust.
While lust can be alluded to, as in you know..they want each other and or that they kiss and show skinship.. And sex can be alluded to in a..ey, lets sleep in the same bed together ,shown though the day after her coming from his bedroom or something..
In this drama it does not shy away from the fact that 1. people in relationships want each other. There is lust there and tension. and 2.They have sex. I mean, they day after she awoke in his bead relatively undressed :o
I really reeeealy like this drama One to watch again if I feel romantic and lovedovey ♥ - StarsLee Byung-hunShin Min-aKim Woo-binRomance is sweet and bitter - and life riddled with ups and downs - in multiple stories about people who live and work on bustling Jeju Island.Oooh..This one though.
The omnibus-style of telling a story is new to me. Never experienced it before ( Omnibus: a way of telling a story, with diverse characters that are somewhat interconnected, in one way or the other.) So this one was a first for me.
If this is something to judge that way of telling a story on, I am positively surprised.
So.. well, if you have seen your fair share of k-dramas you will surely recognize quite a lot of the actors. It is after all filled with known korean actors. Some of these I have seen before, some I have not at all. Now, surprisingly perhaps I have not seen Lee Byung Hun in anything before I made the choice to see this. Kinda regret that since his performance in this was A++++++++++ so if that is something to go after..ooh.boy :o
Anyway with that being said, this quickly clime`d up to be among my favorite dramas. I cried and I laughed..got charmed and got angry.
HIGHLY recommend. 10/10. - StarsLee Seung-giCha Seung-wonOh Yeon-SeoIn 2017, Son Oh Gong and Ma Wang are in conflict with each other and they look for a true light in a dark world where evils exists everywhere.A Korean Odyssey
This was such a enjoyment to watch. It had humor with stupid stuff that happened throughout the show. The chemistry between the actors. Romance and also a bit of horror.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching..♥
This is up there with the favorites and could have been it..if not for disappointment with Odyssey having just one season. I mean ,why end it the way it did, if you can not follow up with a second season? Because this drama deservers a proper end to to it.
Maybe I will watch it again? Honestly not sure,
actually. But yeah..maybe I will. - StarsJung Hye-youngJo Sung-haKim Hee-wonHuman/were-fox half-breed Choi Kang Chi discovers the truth about his origins and searches for the mystical Gu Family Book, which holds the secret to becoming fully human.Gu Family book.
The feels is really up there with My love from another star. God,the feels..
Hehe..This drama tho..God how it annoyed me in the beginning. A lot of the characters and the choices they made..Not to mention that I for some reason focused on small details that was annoying.
Than somewhere in the middle I warmed up more and more to it.
Now I really like this drama, It has comedy,romance,action..and it just appeals to me.
Most def worth watching. Above average for me. - StarsLee Joon-giLee Soo-hyukKim So-eunSet in an alternate Joseon dynasty, Jo Yang-sun (Lee Yu Bi) is the daughter of a nobleman whose family loses everything when her father is framed for treason. To make ends meet, Yang-sun begins cross-dressing as a male bookseller, and meets the handsome and mysterious scholar Kim Sung-yeol (Lee Joon Ki), who works at the Hongmungwan. Sung-yeol is a vampire, and he continues to be haunted by the long-ago death of his first love Lee Myung-hee, especially when he meets Myung-hee's present-day doppelgänger Choi Hye-ryung (Kim So Eun), an aloof nobleman's daughter. Meanwhile, the evil vampire Gwi (Lee Soo Hyuk) resides in the royal palace and uses his powers and political machinations to prevent the Crown Prince Lee Yoon (Shim Chang-Min) from ascending the throne.Scholar of the night
Omg..Such a cute and good drama..And with handsome vampires..My oh my..*_*
I really like`d this drama. Close to being my favorite fantasy k-drama ,if it was not for the lead actress who, even tho she is cute..Is really not up there with the other actors..-.-"" She semi annoyed me thru it all..-.-
Still very good tho and really worth watching.
Also,Lee Soo Hyuk as Gwi is swoon worthy..♥_♥ Yeah, thats all XD - CreatorGwang JinStarsPark Seo-joonKim Da-miYoo Jae-myungAn ex-con opens a street bar in Itaewon, while also seeking revenge on the family who was responsible for his father's death.Itaewon Class
So, I have discovered that with korean dramas, love plots of some kind usually follows. Now if it done right and in a good way, I do not mind. If done wrong, then I lose engagement with the show.
So, did I like it? Yes.
Is it one of those shows that I will end end up loving for years on end? No.
Was it really good? Also yes.
So what did I really liked? The fact that they took up current social issues in S-Korea, the fact that the cast is diverse but not in the sake of diversity (It actually is part of the story..),the actors, the characters relationship with each other and the sorta love story between the two main leads.
(So,on the social issues..Some of them I think are of a more global character..Like the problem with accept of Lgbt people, the corrupt/greedy in business and how they will use their position for bad and how a upbringing can mess you up. I am sure there is more..)
The actors where amazing. - StarsIUYeo Jin-gooShin Jeong-geunWhen he's invited to manage a hotel for dead souls, an elite hotelier gets to know the establishment's ancient owner and her strange world.Very well written.
It mixed sorrow and humor very well. The universe and the characters all appealed to my in some way or another.
It is a suuper charming little thing ^.^
Also the fashion and style of the main female character *chefs kiss* ♥ - StarsLee Na-youngLee Jong-sukJeong Eu-geneA gifted writer who's the youngest editor-in-chief ever at his publishing company gets enmeshed in the life of a former copywriter desperate for a job.Sooo..I love books and anything about them..though through unforeseen circumstances I have not been able to read as much I would like, sadly.
Weirdly enough though, that was not why I ended up watching this drama. What peaked my interest more was actually that there is that romance between a older woman and a younger man. So I thought why not? Not often I have seen that in k-drama land, you know.
Well..I am not disappointed that I did. It made me cry a little and it made me laugh quite a bit. Full of charm and the chemistry between the leads checks out.
Also, it ended on a very satisfying note.
A feel good drama that was really above average. Time well spent, I suppose.
Sidenote: if this drama is a indication of Lee Jong-Su acting ability, well..I will have too keep my eyes open for what he chooses to star in :o Because I really liked him in this one ^o^ - StarsHwang Jeong-eumPark Seo-joonKo Jun-heeWhen Ji Sung-Joon was young, he was ugly. As he grew up, he began to have an attractive appearance. When Kim Hye-Jin was young, she was pretty. As she grew up, she became ugly. Ji Sung-Joon tries to find his first love. She Was Pretty
This is a cute feel good drama.
Did not cry at all, but I did laugh a lot and also went awww quite a lot.
It just warmed my heart, this one. Such a charming series..And the characters..♥
A good one, this is,yes ^.^ - StarsLee Joon-giIUKang Ha-neulHa-jin travels 1000 years back in time and lands in the era of Goryeo Dynasty as a young girl named Hae-soo. She, now trapped in another person's body, becomes involved in a power struggle against various vicious contenders to the throne.Scarlet heart.
So, IU can REALLY act :o Must admit I am surprised, but in a pleasant way that she can ^.^ Watching this made me realize her talent, so not mad about it.
Also Lee Joon-Gi..♥
So the drama..Watched this right after watching Empress Ki, and I loved that drama dearly..so that was not the smartest.
This one is charming and sad but not in a : lets make you an emotional mess, because that was Empress Ki in a nutshell T_T
Hm..can not help compare the 2 just because of the order I watched them.
With all that being said, this is by all means a very good drama. Very enjoyable, funny and heart warming. - StarsHwang Jeong-eumYook Sung-jaeChoi Won-youngA young man with an unique ability begins working for a centuries-old bar owner who resolves her customers' emotional troubles by entering their dreams.Mystic Pop-up Bar
Its very cute and very heartwarming.
Is it another Goblin? No, absolutely not. Not even close.
For me this is like a cartoon. Its going to take a whole lot to impress me or pull my heartstrings severely for me to consider a cartoon a favorite. But I can watch it and just enjoy myself and even find it cute. Rarely will it have a ooo, I want to watch this again, though.
So enjoyable, yes. Good time spent. Chemistry between the lead checks out. Ok plot.
Basically a decent drama, nothing more. - StarsKong Hyo-jinSo Ji-seobSeo In-GukTae Gong Sil has the ability to see ghosts, but their constant demands for help make her life impossible until she meets Joo Jong Won, a handsome CEO who measures everything by money, since when she touches him, the ghosts disappear. The Master's Sun
So first of all.. The cover is so beautiful..SO soo pretty ♥.♥
Now that that is out of my system..:p..
This drama has it little charms and I do like it..however, I did not love it. There are certain things with this that rubbed me the wrong way but I can not put my fingers on it. I do know that it had nothing to do with the actors though..
The main characters are likeable. It has humor and sadness. Also it has quite a bit of love in it, witch was the most adorable thing about the entire drama..
So a waste of time? No.
Would watch again? Also no. - StarsJi SungHwang Jeong-eumPark Seo-joonA love story between the son from a wealthy family who has 7 personalities Cha Do Hyun (Ji Sung) and Oh Ri Jin (Hwang Jung Eum) who becomes his secret psychiatrist.Kill Me, Heal Me
/////////////// THIS WHOLE REVIEW MIGHT BE A SPOILER SO READ AT YOUR OWN CAUTION ////////////
( This is your only warning and if you ignore it, that is your fault for being spoiled ,not me)
Reason I am giving a warning of being spoiled is that I can not talk about this and my feelings surrounding it without spoiling it.
You should read at your own caution :o
SPOILER:
See..even tried putting in a tag here XD
So..this is a really good drama. Like very good.
But..I have my issues with it.
So first lets go to the positives..
-It is VERY well written and the actors in it are VERY good. Like top notch for me. Though I think the male lead is a little above the female one in acting.
-The chemistry between the leads. Yes,yes YES!!
-Its also VERY funny and stupid, while being able to remain serious at the same time, witch it quite a an achievement.
-I laughed a lot and cried equally as much.
-The soundtrack ♥
-Park Seo-joon. Talented -nod nod-
-Ahn Yo-na and the funny
situations she happens to get the main personality in XD
-They tried to handle DID in a somewhat respectful and serious manner, witch is good.
So to the negative ones and for me it is big ones
witch makes me not put in the favorite list
1. NO!! Love does NOT heal mental health issues. Giving this message to people is beyond wrong. And that was the message I was left with after I had finished watching it..
Why yes, love can make you heal some more or help you on the road to healing. Sure. Also, support is SUPER important in a significant other. But the work to healing has to come from you. You have to work on it. And some will never be well from their suffering, some will actually get worse mental health as they grow older . Love does NOT heal your pain alone. It just helps you to manage it better through support and love. That one point irked me to no degree after I had finished watching it, especially since this is not a bad drama at all, as said earlier.
2. DID come from repeated and ongoing childhood trauma where the mind dissociates to help the child cope and grow up to be somewhat functional grown human. Taking that in consideration, I guess I hoped for more seriousness in the show. I think the hype this show had got to me and my expiations where to high on how good the show would be..
3: I highly doubt people with DID are dangerous as it is portrayed here that one of his alters are. And if that happens to be a fact, it is a rarity.
After all, DID-sufferers have severe and often complex Ptsd. Must be hard enough to cope and live with that alone..
So yeah..Good but I did not end up loving it as much as I thought I would. I guess my standards to shows that bases itself around mental illness or that mental illness is a continuous red thread through the show, is very high.. It better tick of all the boxes I want it to have for me to consider it a favorite. Or super good. And yeah, entertainment rarely manages to do that to the level I expect it to be done. - StarsHyun BinHan Ji-minKim Do-yeonKoo Seo-Jin (Hyun-Bin) has two different personalities. One of his personalities is cold like Hyde and the other is sweet like Jekyll.Spoiler`ish rewiew:
Second drama I have watched dealing with DID.
Did it annoy just as much as Kill me, Heal Me? No. Not really. It had its moments where I was like WHY? but that was more towards the end of the show..where he gives her the honor of curing him witch is wrong..She helped him..but he did the main work.
I do have a feeling that it may be a Korean society thing OR a K-drama thing. Or a 2015 thing. Whatever it is ,as said before..love helps you, it does NOT heal you.
Now for the more positive stuff :
I really liked the female lead. she was super charming.
The second male lead was not someone fawning over the main female lead.
Showed that 2 people can go through the same thing and have completely different reactions to it.
Support is important and healing takes time..it did good in showing that as well..
So, good actors, quite a bit of silliness and seriousness, action and looove.
Good and above average cute drama with a charm. Not in love but not a lot of rage over it either.
Also Hyun Bin. Wow!! That's all XD - StarsSon Ye-jinJung Hae-inJoo Min-KyungWhen a single career woman reunites with her best friend's younger brother after he returns from three years of working abroad, their efforts to reconnect grow into romance......
Soo..when it ended I kind of wished for more episodes but I also felt it had more than enough. A bit above average..
A bit because : the actors where ok, decent chemistry and it showed (as far as I have understood) korean culture quite well. (or asian? Not sure.) and had a level of cuteness and quite some funny moments as well.
BUT..I did not like how it ended and how realistic it was. Also the Family pressure. Hated that.
I watch k-dramas for the most part (other that with shows dealing with mental health)..for the escape, for the love storys that end well, for the cuteness, laughter's and perhaps tears and maybe..just MAYBE for a bit of realism thrown in..but not to much.
For me K-dramas are kind of Disney for adults in away, if that makes any sense at all.
Can I watch a realistic k-.drama and be charmed and like it? Sure. I liked Ittawon-class. But Ittawon-class did not tell a love story..they told a revenge story with love thrown into the mix.
So yeah.
Oh: The soundtrack though..a++. Made me discover some love cover songs I did not existed. That I liked. - StarsNam Joo-hyukShin Se-KyungLim Ju-hwanThe Water God Habaek visits earth to fulfill his mission with the help of his servant in the human world, named psychiatrist Yoon So Ah, whose ancestor have promised to serve The Water God for generations. The Bride of Habaek
Quite a cute little story. Liked how it ended. I remember it had a little bit of charm to it.
However, it has been a quite a while since I watched it.. and most is forgotten. So yeah..-.-""
Meh is the only word I can think of to describe my accurate reaction to this ,after letting it simmer in my brain for a while. - StarsChoi Woo-sikHan Ji-minLee Tae-riCrown Prince Lee Gak transports 300 years into the future following the death of his wife; in 21st century Seoul, he meets Joo Se-Na, a woman with an uncanny resemblance to the deceased princess.Rooftop Prince
Well I laughed a lot.
And I cried a little.
So it is a good drama and definitely worth watching..once.
Other than that, it is easily forgotten. So meh! - StarsLee Min-hoKim Hee-seonYoon Kyun-SangWhen the queen-to-be of medieval Korea is badly wounded, Captain Choi Young uses a wormhole to "heaven," which is actually 21st-century South Korea, to bring back the spoiled Dr. Yoo Eun-Soo who becomes a pawn in a game of human chess. The Great Doctor/Faith.
So and so,for me. Had a whole meh factor over it.Tho it was worth seeing,I think.
Liked the king and the queen a LOT. Their story warmed me more than the main gonna be couple.
Some characters, like the doctor was very annoying in the beginning. The warrior was sorta meh,for me. Lee Min-ho with half long hair, tho,is not a unwelcome`d sight...Xp - StarsLee Min-hoPark Shin-hyeKim Woo-binAfter a chance encounter in LA, two teens from different social backgrounds reunite at an exclusive high school attended by Korea's über rich.Heirs.
It is worth watching. A pretty average drama for me tho. I remember finding it very very sweet the first time I saw it..But I know I would be more annoyed with this drama if I watch it again. (not a huge fan of Lee Min Ho either. He is a good actor tho..^^)
This introduced me to an actor I wanna see much more of : Choi Jin-hyuk.
That man..oh,I really like him. - StarsKu Hye-SunLee Min-hoKim Hyun-joongPoor girl attends the elite Shin Hwa High and is bullied by the leader of F4 (the four richest boys). He becomes attracted to her; however, she has a crush on his best friend. Whom will she choose? The drama that started my love for Korean drama`s.
Not my fave drama tho,but it was very enjoyable to watch, despite all the cliches that is thrown at you. I remember laughing and smiling quite a bit.
