- The festival is dedicated to the cinematographer's artistic achievement in motion picture. It was established in 1979 in honor of the first cameramen on the Balkans, 'Milto Manaki' and 'Janaq Manaki', who shot the first documentary in 1905 with their Camera 300 in their hometown Bitola.
- The festival takes place since 1979. It features a competition since 1983, which has an international focus since 1993.
