- As a college sophomore's academic life devolves into substance abuse and depression, he fears that his friends are being stalked by a killer whose existence he can't discern from hallucinations.
- In a remote, isolated community, two men make their living keeping a secret. They ensure that everything is quiet, safe, and that their bosses are unaccountable. But how long can you really keep a secret as extraordinary as this one? When the status quo is threatened, they have to make a choice... Maintain the routine? Run and hide? Or feed the beast?
- Eric returns home to find his ex-girlfriend in bed with his best friend... and that will be the most normal problem anyone deals with in FOOL, an absurdist, subversive collage of romantic comedies. As they struggle with heartbreak and hope (and the women they love struggle with them), Eric and his friends alternately support and sabotage each other as they deal with bizarre obstacles, use exceptionally bad judgment, and learn that personal growth sucks. Will they find love and happiness? Do they even deserve to? Whose side are you on?!
- The Bastards of Fate, prior to recording their first album, play a live set at The Lantern on October 26th, 2008.
- Chuck and Dawn are grad students and aspiring writers. They've been aspiring so long it's hard to remember why they started. As they struggle with a bad semester in a discouraging program, and the possible rewards shrink in proportion to the growing personal sacrifices, the question looms... why is being a writer even worth it? That's the gist of The Goat. (the period is part of the title), adapted by Jack Bennett from Atlanta-based writer Nick Tyler's short story of ennui and frustrated desire.
- A woman dies, leaving behind a mournful family and a shocked young husband. Missing from the funeral was Curtis, whose grudge might have been buried with the dead girl if he hadn't found that letter she mailed on the last day of her life.
- There's radiation in them hills... What will happen if it gets stronger? Who will stop it? The challenge is met by four intrepid scientists. Dr. Mitch Mitchell (Dave Deshler), his wife Rosalee (Deanna Nairns), their foreign colleague Dr. Goran (F.M. Turner) and the mysterious Dr. Frank Peter (Jack Bennett). Along with some reluctant grad students, the empirical quartet hikes deep into the mountains to confront the threat at the source...but they are unprepared for the horrors that await them. Invisible skeletons! An alien robot! Theoretical giant monkeys! This is just the beginning of the lunacy in River of Dread, a tongue-in-cheek homage to science fiction films of the 1950's and the feature debut of writer-director Seneca Haynes.
- Clarissa mentions to Bobby that Amanda is afraid of clowns. It all goes downhill from there.
- After the tragic events at Virginia Tech on April 16th, 2007, the school received over 90,000 gifts of goodwill from all over the world. The items were put on display in Virginia Tech's Squires Student Center by a temporary employee and volunteers from the community, a controversial decision to this day. The exhibit and subsequent reaction led to this portrait of the blessing (and burden) of such a huge volume of gifts, the effort put into their display and the uncertainty of their future and ultimate value.
- The band The Bastards of Fate try to play their song but are overwhelmed by rapidly multiplying props and effects.
- A dumpster-diving homeless girl stumbles across the chance to see herself from a different perspective.
