- To take his mind off his divorce, antimatter physicist Gus Lloyd started programming an action video game where he was the hero, his ex-wife Lauren Ashborne was the sidekick, and his father Jordan Kenneth Lloyd was Sebastian Jackal, a Satanic figure who wanted to destroy the world with an army of thugs, based on the people who made Gus' life a living hell. The antimatter experiments Gus and his friend Peter Rucker were running went haywire, reading the game's villain file and sending them into the real world to act out their programming. Gus, Lauren, and Peter are then forced to play the game for real.
- Level 3 villain is Gus' first boss. His power is a super strong right arm which shoots exploding pink slips. His vulnerability is red ink.
- Villain is the car mechanic whose outrageous estimates can cause heart attacks -- literally. He can be repelled with brake fluid or killed by seeing his own image in a mirror.
- Villain is Lauren's divorce lawyer. Power is electricity. Can only be killed if hit by Billy Joel's vinyl album The Stranger and only then if it was hurled by Lauren.
- Villain is Gus' orthodontist. He has the power to shoot novocaine darts. Vulnerability is processed sugar. Can be killed with a power drill.
- A video game programmer and inventor finds a way to transfer objects from his over the top action VR game into the real world. Unfortunately, the game's villains also arrive and try to kidnap his ex wife and nuke the world.
- Villain is the motivational speaker who sucked a depressed Gus in after the divorce. Power is the ability to turn people into cassette tape. Vulnerability is paint balls. Can be killed by eating his own words.
- The Level 2 villain is Lauren's Mom who has the power to freeze and her vulnerability is dirt.
- The Jackal figures out how to release himself and the villains from the computer. In a surprise move, the Jackal sends a non-villain to Gus. But he also sends Gus' childhood camp counselor, who definitely IS a villain.
- Gus gets Lauren out of the computer but Camp Counselor gets out too. So now the gang must stop Camp Counselor from going to Camp David and firing a rocket at President Bill Clinton.
- Gus figures out how to delete all the villains. However, this just means he will have to battle the Jackal directly.
- Danny Schlecht, a real-life practical joker, secretly adds a villain to the game based on himself. Fortunately for the gang, the Jackal disapproves of this "outside" villain.
- Villain is the trash man who wouldn't let Gus search the trash for Lauren's wedding ring. Power is shooting toxic sludge. Vulnerability is any kind of cleaner. Can be killed only by being hit with a horseshoe connected to horse.
- Villain is Gus' ex. She has the power to morph. Vulnerability is gold. Can be killed with a golden bullet.
