Westworld (2016)
Original
The mix Western/Sci-Fi is not my cup of tee, but this one grabbed my attention after the first episode. The Nolans are famous for diving into complicated matters, and this is no exception. So far, I've been getting a moral vibe-what is awesome about a "recreational" park, where you can, literally murder, rape, torture and, basically do everything you want, without any consequences-as long as you pay (40k a day). It is known that the idea is from the movie, written by Michael Crichton-which I haven't seen btw, but is on my Watchlist. Intelligent people created this park, and they have all the control over their creation, but what could happen if somehow they started losing that control? What would happen if their creation suddenly started to remember all the nasty things people who visit have done to them...it? Will It go on some sort of a revenge? Well-it remains to be seen. I've been "monitoring" closely the work of the Nolans, and they amaze me every time-everything they do makes you ask yourself a lot of questions. The cast of Westworld is awesome-I mean common-Antony Hopkins is the "mastermind", and fantastic as always. If you like movies/TV shows, where you can't miss a second, because that would mean not understanding what the hell is going on later-this one is for you, so check it out!
The Fall (2013)
Exquisite!
I stumbled upon "The Fall" by accident, and it was worth it-every minute! If you're into gore, or should we say, visual messy violence, this is not the show for you! It Is a little bit slow paced, but leads to agreat culmination. It raises all kinds of questions-real ones-what makes a murderer kill? How does the system work when dealing with psychopaths? Does the punishment meet the crime? It shows both sides-the side of the killer and the side of the police trying to catch him and bring him to justice. It's a deep story, one that looks very, very real-not like some horror shows that...well, you just know that what you're seeing is not possible, and it's not going to happen. Jamie Dornan does a great job (nothing to do with 50 shades of Grey), and Gillian Anderson is fantastic! Just see for yourself-if you like a dark story, with characters that have real problems-this one should do the job for you!
