Yesterday evening, the news broke that Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is being eyed to helm Avengers 5. Marvel Studios must be pleased with the Merc with the Mouth's upcoming threequel, but the report also featured another major revelation.
Apparently, the movie - previously titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty - will feature upwards of 60 Marvel characters!
As you might have guessed, that got us thinking about who we'll see in Avengers 5. While Marvel Studios has already introduced hundreds of heroes and villains, not all of them would fit into this movie.
So, no, this isn't just a list of 60 MCU characters, it's our breakdown of who we believe would fit into the story as well as which corner of this shared world they hail from. There are bound to be some surprises and glaring omissions which upset some fans, but we think this is a pretty definitive list of exciting possibilities.

Exclusive: Steve Lightfoot is developing a TV adaptation of Stephen Lloyd Jones’ The String Diaries with Geek Girl producer RubyRock Pictures and Sony Studios.
RubyRock boss Zoë Rocha revealed the early-stage project to Deadline alongside an adaptation of Justin Somper’s Vampirates book series, while lifting the lid on Netflix’s upcoming Geek Girl adaptation.
Lightfoot, who show-ran Apple TV+’s Shantaram and Netflix’s The Punisher, is currently penning the pilot and the project doesn’t yet have a buyer. Sony Studios is also attached.
The String Diaries was published a decade ago and is a supernatural thriller following a family that come into possession of diaries handed down from mother to daughter since the 19th century. Lloyd Jones’ debut extends from the present day to Oxford in the 1970s to Hungary at the turn of the 19th century, tracing back to a man from an ancient royal family with a consuming passion.

Mike Colter starred in Marvel Television's Luke Cage from 2015 to 2018 and, like the rest of those heroes, his time as the character reached an abrupt end amid a wave of cancellations. That was Netflix's way of responding to the launch of Disney+, but after a couple of years of waiting, Marvel Studios is free to do what it likes with Power Man and company.
The Defenders TV shows are supposedly considered "canon" to the wider MCU and, with Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal reprising their roles as Daredevil and The Punisher in 2025's Born Again, could Colter eventually join them as Power Man?
The actor was always something of a divisive choice, and replacing the 47-year-old with a younger lead more in line with the comic book version of the character perhaps makes the most sense. For what it's worth, Colter remains open to playing Cage again, even...

The first season of Reacher became an unexpected hit – the adaptation of Lee Child's novels attracted viewers unfamiliar with the source material, as well as fans of the books who complained that the character previously played by Tom Cruise was far from what Child described.
The second season came out almost two years after the release of the first, and the show was renewed for a third season at the end of 2023. And only recently new information has emerged – a new chapter of Reacher's story will be released in 2025.
It's still a long wait, so here are five TV shows to help you pass the time while you wait for the new season.

Jon Bernthal, known for his tough on-screen roles, admitted he wept after leaving the ABC post-apocalyptic drama The Walking Dead. Throughout its run, the show featured a variety of characters, including Bernthal’s unstable, merciless, and lovestruck Shane Walsh, a character who appeared in the first two seasons before being killed by Rick Grimes.

Although Daredevil: Born Again features the return of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, the series originally didn’t have any other connection to the Netflix series. When Daredevil: Born Again was forced to shut down last summer due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and other executives grew displeased with the direction of the show and demanded a creative overhaul. According to Cox and D’Onofrio, that overhaul has brought “a lot” of crossover with the original show.
“It originally wasn’t going to be at all, but now it’s a lot,” D’Onofrio told TVInsider. Since the overhaul, we’ve seen other members of the original Daredevil series return, including Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and more. Since 2021, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin of Crime have shown up in various MCU TV shows.
We've seen the Man Without Fear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Echo, with Wilson Fisk appearing in the latter and Hawkeye. However, these two haven't shared the screen since Daredevil wrapped up on Netflix six years ago.
That's set to change in Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again and, in an interview with TV Insider, D'Onofrio revealed that the revival originally featured no significant links to Daredevil.
"It originally wasn’t going to be at all, but now it’s a lot," the actor said of crossovers between the two. Cox chimed in to say there's now "a lot" of them, presumably meaning Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, Bullseye, and The Punisher were M.I.A. in the previous iteration of Born Again.

Last year, a creative overhaul saw The Punisher's Dario Scardapane replace Matt Corman and Chris Ord as Daredevil: Born Again's showrunner. Now, all signs point to the Marvel Studios series delivering the take on the Man Without Fear we've been waiting to see in the MCU.
TV Line caught up with Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio at the Upfronts in New York yesterday and asked the former whether the retooling has brought Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk more in line with Netflix's Daredevil.
"Not exactly the same, but much closer," Cox teased. "And potentially much improved."
D'Onofrio added, "It’s hard to comment because I want to say so much about both the [Netflix] show and this show, and the change that happened, but in the end, the last few months of work we did was written beautifully and directed beautifully. Personally, I think it’s as intense as we’ve ever been.

Last night during Disney's 2024 Upfronts presentation, we finally got release dates for Agatha All Along and Daredevil: Born Again, as well as confirmation that Ironheart will debut on Disney+ sometime in 2025.
New logos for the shows were also unveiled, and while teaser trailers were screened for those in attendance, they have not (and likely won't be) released online.
Different versions of the teasers are sure to be officially released before too long, but for now, we have a breakdown of the footage (via IGN).
The Born Again promo sees Matt Murdock don his familiar red costume, as his voiceover warns someone that the "entire system is against you... it's often David vs. Goliath." We then catch glimpses of Kingpin, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page, and shots from a brief action sequence.
Right at the end, Murdock is asked, "what kind of a lawyer are you." He responds with, "a really good one,...

Marvel’s upcoming WandaVision spin-off starring Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness finally has an official title—for real this time—and a release date on Disney+.
The Agatha series has been through several titles over the years, including Agatha: House of Harkness, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and Agatha: The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe. It turns out those constant title changes were the result of the titular pesky witch, and the actual title was unveiled during Disney’s 2024 Upfront Presentation: Agatha All Along. The first two episodes of the series will debut on Disney+ on September 18th.

Over a year ago, news surfaced that Amazon would be producing a live-action series centered around Spider-Man Noir, a superhero situated in 1930s New York City. Departing from the traditional Spider-Man narrative, this show will spotlight an older, more seasoned character distinct from Peter Parker. Developed by Oren Uziel, the series will carve its own path within the Marvel universe, with Uziel serving as both writer and executive producer.
The project has attracted notable industry figures, including producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. One of the Spider-Man variations that stole scenes in the 2018 animated film from Sony, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, was Spider-Man Noir. The character had the impeccable pipes of Nicolas Cage to bring his character to life and, Deadline now reports that the Marvel comic property has just been given a greenlight by Prime Video and MGM+ for a live-action series, complete with Cage in the role. The series titled Noir has been in development for over a year from Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who will be serving as co-showrunners and executive producers.

Now, Gunn takes it a step further by linking the forthcoming ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 with the much-anticipated animated project ‘Creature Commandos,’ set for release this year.
Frank Grillo has been chosen to portray Rick Flag Sr. in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, following his prior confirmation to voice the character in the animated series. This mirrors Gunn’s earlier statement during the Dcu presentation, expressing his desire for voice actors to also appear in live-action roles.
Rick Flag Sr. was once the leader of the Suicide Squadron during WWII. This group, made up of criminals, was sent on perilous missions. Flag Sr. instilled discipline in them and led them successfully.

Ghost Rider is one of the most popular Marvel characters fans have been clamoring to see in the MCU. However, fans have also debated over who should be the actor playing the Spirit of Vengeance on the big screen. While many believe that actor Keanu Reeves is the best fit for the part, another actor makes an equally worthy candidate.
Keanu Reeves has been a fan-favorite to play MCU’s Ghost Rider.
In the past, The Walking Dead-fame actor Norman Reedus publicly voiced his desire to play the role of Ghost Rider in the MCU. Given Reedus’ filmography and public persona, there is an argument to be made for him probably being better suited for the MCU’s version of Ghost Rider. Here is why Norman Reedus might be a better pick for Ghost Rider in the MCU.

One of the biggest upcoming MCU releases is most certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie marks several big things. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and also the only MCU movie to be released in 2024, in the hopes of restoring at least some of the faith that the fans of the franchise lost in the last several years due to a string of several poorly received movies.
The recently released trailer also confirmed that several old faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises are going to be making a return.
According to the latest rounds of rumors, and one synopsis, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ won’t reference only old Fox’s ‘X-Men,’ it’s also going to revisit key moments from phases 1-4 and it’s going to reference The Punisher.
According to MyTimeToShineHello, The Punisher will be referenced in the movie as someone who stood up to Cassandra Nova,...

As much as we adore our short kings, the world absolutely loves a tall man. Sure, they’re probably sick of being asked, “How’s the weather up there?” but they always come in handy when you need something off the top shelf.

Spider-Man 4 is a film that a lot of fans are looking forward to, especially after where No Way Home left Peter Parker. He was wiped from the memory of everyone who knew him, leaving him without any friends or family. This Peter Parker essentially had to start from scratch, and will probably be rubbing shoulders with street-level vigilantes like Daredevil and The Punisher, before he gets to become a part of anything like the Avengers.
Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the MCU
However, despite most of the plotlines of the film being wrapped up, there are certain exciting threads that fans want to see explored in future installments of the franchise. One theory that has been floating around online not only wishes to tug on this thread but also uses it to set Sony’s version of the Spider-Man universe straight.

The Bear is one of those rare stories that comes along once in a blue moon. It doesn't get by on flashy CG, explosions, or modded-out race cars flying down the streets.
Witty dialogue, high stress, and intense drama fuel this machine, and perhaps that's why so many big-name actors are attracted to its frenzied undercurrents.
Kudos to the creative team assembled under the banner of The Bear. They've created a fantastic ride, thrumming with intensity and entertainment without needing to spend a fortune.
They're clearly doing something right. Series creator Christopher Storer (bolstered by incredible writers like Joanna Calo) nails the pace and character beats while accomplishing a rare feat within the industry, perfecting the art of the cameo appearance.
Cameos are often tricky for several reasons. They tend to disrupt the immersive nature of the story. As a prime example, everyone is still trying to forget Ed Sheeran...

The Walking Dead universe is gradually becoming an ever-expanding franchise with character-led spin-offs and sequels. But why should that mean fans can’t relive the original show over and over again? Taking back to the particularly earliest era of the AMC horror drama, when Jon Bernthal’s Shane Walsh was still alive, fans appear to celebrate the character’s popularity and legacy.
Jon Bernthal as Shane Walsh in a still from The Walking Dead
In the earlier episodes, Shane is seen leading a group of survivors until the arrival of Rick. Suddenly the reunion starts to reek of trouble and Shane gradually becomes more villainous due to his jealousy towards Rick and his wife’s relationship. But irrespective of Shane’s demons, the character acquired a massive fanbase and later Jon Bernthal admired the way The Shawshank Redemption director created his character.

Netflix is one of the top streaming services for a reason. What attracts so many millions of users around the world is the freedom to choose content — Netflix's library may not be endless, but there is never a shortage of viewing options.
In particular, the platform actively offers all kinds of movies and series in the thriller genre, as users enjoy following nail-biting events full of thrills and suspense while waiting for mind-blowing revelations. Some of the most popular projects are the live-action adaptations of thriller king Harlan Coben, including the release earlier this year of Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan and Richard Armitage.
But as the number of thrillers on Netflix has grown over the past few years, it's become increasingly difficult to find a series that doesn't follow typical tropes and clichés and offers something truly original.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have been locked in to reprise the roles of hero Matt Murdock / Daredevil and villain Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, characters they originally played on the Marvel-inspired Netflix series Daredevil, on the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again ever since Marvel and Disney+ started pushing the show forward. When their supporting cast was being assembled at the end of 2022, it was announced that Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) had signed on to appear on the show as a love interest to the Fisk – with the word being that she was taking over the role of his wife Vanessa Marianna Fisk, who had previously been played by Ayelet Zurer on the Netflix show. Apparently there had been scheduling issues with Zurer, who said she was “sad to not take part” in the new series… which, at the time, wasn’t meant to line up with the Netflix show perfectly. Avatar: The Last Airbender is heading into its second season with its third showrunner at the helm.
Showrunner Albert Kim, who replaced creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, is also exiting the Netflix live-action series. Co-executive producer Christine Boylan and exec producer Jabbar Raisani — both of whom were hired by Kim — will take over as the drama’s third showrunners for the previously announced second and third seasons.
Sources say Kim’s intention was to lay the foundation for season one of Avatar: The Last Airbender after stepping in for the beloved franchise’s creators. Jon Bernthal Returns As The Punisher Alongside Charlie Cox In New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Set Photos
We’re getting a first look at Jon Bernthal’s return as (a bloody) Frank Castle (aka Punisher) in new set photos of Daredevil: Born Again, the upcoming Marvel/Disney+ series, which is currently filming in New York City. In the new photos, we see Bernthal’s Punisher alongside Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock.
Bernthal first played the Frank Castle role on Netflix’s version of Daredevil, debuting the character during second season in 2016. He then went on to play the titular character for two seasons of Netflix’s The Punisher, which aired from 2017-19.
Daredevil: Born Again follows original star Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind attorney-turned-crimefighting superhero, and also features Vincent D’Onofrio reprising his role as mob boss Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, along Bernthal’s Punisher.
Daredevil: Born Again also stars Michael Gandolfini, Sandrine Holt and Margarita Levieva.

Jon Bernthal's Punisher is officially back in action. New photos taken from the set of "Daredevil: Born Again" have confirmed the return of the actor's version of Frank Castle, who first appeared on the Marvel Netflix shows nearly a decade ago. But five years after "The Punisher" was canceled by the streaming service, Bernthal is reuniting with his old frenemy Matt Murdock (once again played by Charlie Cox).

The above image sees Bernthal looking very much like the Frank Castle fans of the Netflix shows remember -- bloody, jacked, and ready for vengeance on the streets of New York City. You can also see Bernthal and Cox reunited in costume below. Unfortunately, we don't get a great sense of what's going on in the scenes in question, but it certainly looks like they're getting bloody and kicking ass. But are they on friendly terms this time around?...

Daredevil has truly been born again, as more set photos from the upcoming miniseries have emerged. But it’s not just Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock that we’re getting a glimpse of, it’s Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle aka Punisher.
In one photo (courtesy of the Daredevil Updates social media account), we see a suited-up Daredevil alongside Castle as the two look off camera to unseen terror. A main draw here might be the shot of Daredevil’s suit, which we previously saw in other set pics but can now see from a different angle and alongside yet another character. More photos also show The Punisher solo, giving a better look at his own get-up, although he does seem a little more reserved than we might be used to of the character. Bernthal first turned up as Castle in the second season of the 2015-2018 Netflix series.
