The Machine delivers the number of Anna Mueller, a young German woman who arrived in USA with her sister Jill when they were teenagers, and now works at the Internet company Fetch & Retrieve as transcriber. Reese is posing of security guard to be close and protect Anna. He clones her phone and sees bruises in her arm. After receiving messages from a man named Alek, Reese believes Anna might be in an abusive relationship. Meanwhile, Finch posing as Professor Harold Whistler arrives at the company to meet the direction of the company and learns that they are developing a system called VAL - Voice Activated Lookup, and Anna, her colleague Naresh Prasad and other transcribers are working in the project. They analyze the human side of VAL's responses to see if they are correct. Soon Reese learns that Anna is an underground MMA fighter and Alek is her trainer. He also finds that Jill has cancer and Anna was questioning VAL's answer to a suicidal man. Meanwhile, Finch sees a poster of Nautilus and decides to analyze it. He discovers that Claire Mahoney is trying to contact him, using the poster to find him. He meets her at a shadowed parking slot, but she is shot close to her heart by a sniper. She tells him that she had found that Samaritan is an evil A. I. and she has stolen a code that may bring it down. But Finch is not sure whether he can believe Claire.
"Q & A" (meaning question and answer" is another great episode of "Person of Interest", with two excellent segments entwined in the very end. The plot of Anna Mueller is engaging, until the viewer sees the reason why she is an output number from The Machine. The duel between Finch and Claire Mahoney is excellent, and the viewer does not know whether Claire is trustful or not until the end. My vote is nine.
