Jason Momoa has a long history and well-documented love affair with Guinness. From visiting headquarters in Ireland while filming Game of Thrones to slamming pints to get pumped for Aquaman, the actor hasn’t been shy about sharing his passion for the stout. There’s a new status update: Guinness debuted a new piece of content co-directed by and starring Momoa and produced by his production company On the Roam, a partnership that’s been in the works for more than a decade.
The spot, which hit social media Wednesday with TV spots to debut next week, opens with Momoa discovering that he’s 2 percent Irish and follows him as he dashes out of a sushi restaurant to begin the celebrations with a sprint across town to a pub. “My whole company is in it, we produced it, I co-directed it with my best friend and then I wrote it with another best friend.

Jason Momoa is one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood nowadays, from starring in the DC cinematic multiverse as Aquaman to taking on the villain role in "Fast X." But the actor's career trajectory could have gone in a radically different direction had he not made a bold decision roughly a decade ago. Long before Momoa was a household name, he actually backed out of auditioning for Drax in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," with the role ultimately going to Dave Bautista. The film, as we know, became a smash hit and spawned an entire trilogy.
It seemed like a bad move at the time. Momoa was only just beginning to become a bigger name back then, his turns on "Baywatch" and "Stargate: Atlantis" having led to his role as Khal Drogo on "Game of Thrones" in 2011. That same year, however, he also starred in the "Conan the Barbarian" reboot,...

Jason Momoa may have only starred in eleven episodes of Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo, but the character is still fondly remembered by fans despite playing such a minor role in the overarching story told across the show’s eight seasons. You would think that portraying a popular cult favorite on the biggest TV series in the world would have led to countless opportunities in the immediate aftermath, but the 41 year-old has now admitted that it wasn’t quite that simple.
Momoa was a recognizable face after appearing in 38 episodes of Baywatch: Hawaii at the very beginning of his career, as well as spending four years as part of Stargate: Atlantis‘ main ensemble, but he was far from a major star. In fact, you could argue that things never really took off for him until he was cast as the Dceu’s Aquaman, which led to him playing the...

It's no secret that actor, family man, and muscular epitome of human physiological excellence Jason Momoa is a fan of motorcycles. His 2014 film Road to Paloma features Jason's very own bike, a Harley-Davidson Panhead lovingly nicknamed "Mabel" after his adorable grandma, and he is open about his desire to expand his collection. So imagine his surprise when the motorcycle manufacturer sent one of Jason's closest longtime friends all the way to the Australian Aquaman set to surprise him with a brand-new motorcycle! Jason's freak-out when he realized his friend was halfway across the world to see him was lovable enough, but once he saw the new Harley, he totally lost it. Luckily for us all, the entire experience was documented on Instagram - including the moment when Jason decided his Harley was too shiny and proceeded to spray-paint the custom bike matte black. Gotta love a man with style, right?...

A photo posted by Jason Momoa (@prideofgypsies) on Oct 1, 2016 at 8:53am Pdt If you've ever been on the hunt for sexy shirtless snaps or sweet celebrity family moments, then you've probably searched for Jason Momoa's Instagram once or twice. But if you don't know what to look for, it can get confusing: instead of his name, the actor's handle is @prideofgypsies. It's one of those phrases that you makes you go "hmmmm," so after years of curiosity, we've finally dug deep into the archives to uncover the meaning behind the name. Pride of Gypsies is Jason's production company, which represents a "tribe of artists and filmmakers" who pride themselves for free-spirited, authentic work. The company website, which defines pride as "a group of lions forming a collective" and gypsy as "a nomadic or free spirited person," stresses the innovative and atypical approach to film that Jason and his tribe utilize in their projects.

Jason Momoa has been a busy guy of late. Since moving from small cable TV (Stargate: Atlantis) to Big cale TV (Game Of Thrones) it seems that both the industry at large and Momoa himself have been scrambling to figure out what, exactly, to do with the talented brute. His mass appeal is obvious and being carried out with blockbuster roles such as the upcoming Aquaman but Momoa clearly has the urge to prove himself in smaller indie far as well whether in recent writer-director effort Road To Paloma, Ana Lily Amirpour's The Bad Batch or upcoming effort Sugar Mountain. Momoa plays the heavy here as a violent man owed ten thousand dollars by a local youth. The youth - having no way of coming...

Sure, you loved Game of Thrones’ Khal Drogo. But at the end of the day, everyone’s favorite Dothraki warrior only really had a few things going for him—namely, that perpetually glistening upper body and his silent, terrifying intensity. (Okay, and some truly great eyeliner.)

Jason Momoa is a guy with some thoughts on Hollywood. And he's not the type to keep them in, particularly on Instagram -- as you can see below. Especially not for his passion project Road To Paloma, which he is currently promoting after having starred in and directed the film. That's a much bigger commitment than his rumored association with Aquaman in Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, and it means a lot more. But, sadly, people wanna know about the superhero rather than the movie. Released by the suddenly-legit WWE Films, the meditative drama Road to Paloma is the story of a biker who must avenge his mother's death. But it's not an action film per se, instead emphasizing the family ties that restrict us, and the loneliness of the open road. This isn't Sons Of Anarchy. It's something a lot smaller and sadder. Catch the trailer below. Jason...

During the course of promotion for his directional debut, the drama thriller Road to Paloma, actor Jason Momoa was fielded with questions about his all but confirmed role as DC's King of Atlantis, Aquaman, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and beyond. In response, especially after the news that a solo Aquaman movie is in development, the Game of Thrones alum recently posted the following meme to Instagram. "Aquamaaa...." "Road to Paloma, Bitch!" read the photo which uses the infamous Batman-slapping-Robin comic book panel. Since he probably won't be able to discuss the role for some years, especially considering he only has a cameo in Dawn of Justice, we can surely understand Jason Momoa's fustration. However, in light of his Instagram photo's caption—"Hahahaha mahalo #momoaarmy"—he has a sense of humor about it. What do you think?...

Jason Momoa has made a name for himself on both the small screen and the big, in projects like “Stargate: Atlantis,” “Game of Thrones” and ”Conan the Barbarian” — mostly via his brooding physicality. “Road to Paloma,” though, finds the actor branching out, by degrees. Co-written with Robert Homer Mollohan, Momoa’s dusty, Southwestern-set directorial debut is a road movie/crime flick/wanderlust mash-up, centering on Wolf (Momoa), a Native American biker who finds himself living on the lam after avenging his mother’s rape and murder. For ShockYa, Brent Simon recently had a chance to speak to Momoa one-on-one, about how he enjoyed juggled duties behind and in front of the camera, filming a sex scene [ Read More ]

Jason Momoa is a very talented and diverse actor—not just a really big guy who fights on screen.
In his directorial debut with “Road to Paloma,” Momoa has shown his talent range as an actor, director, writer, producer and even with wardrobe, music and location scout. He did it all.
The film is about an American-Indian outlaw wanted by the authorities for murdering the man who raped his mother. He comes out of hiding to retrieve his mother’s ashes to give her a proper sendoff.

Scanners (Criterion Collection) My review copy of Scanners arrived late yesterday afternoon so all I've had a chance to do is remove the cellophane wrapper and admire the artwork, but I will be diving into it soon enough not only to see how well the film holds up and the features, but to check out the inclusion of Stereo (1969), David Cronenberg's first feature film, which in-and-of-itself should answer the question, "Why are Criterion Blu-rays so expensivec" P.S. Remember, this one is 50% off at Barnes & Noble right now, $14 cheaper than the Amazon price.

In cast interviews included with the first-season Game of Thrones DVD, Jason Momoa, who played the Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo, stands out from his mostly foreign co-stars in part due to the many American colloquialisms he uses to describe the show, such as referring to his hulking character as “a pimp.” Since exiting Thrones, Momoa has portrayed the titular warrior in 2011’s Conan the Barbarian and Philip Kopus on the 2014 SundanceTV series The Red Road. But the gentle surfer-bro of Hawaiian-German-Irish-Native-American descent also found time to fit in his directorial debut, The Road to Paloma, which arrived July 4 on VOD and hits theaters today. In the buddy/road-trip/revenge picture, he plays Robert Wolf, a renegade Native American on the run after killing his mother’s rapist-murderer, who had otherwise gone unpunished. Though he’s best known for swinging a massive sword in Conan the Barbarian or mounting Emilia Clarke on Game of Thrones, there’s more to Jason Momoa than meets the eye. And that he’s more than just a physically imposing man of action has never been more clear than in his directorial debut Road to Paloma. Behind the camera, he makes a strong first impression. As the film’s star, he delivers his most emotive performance to date. And when you add in that he co-wrote the script and produced Road to Paloma, it’s easy to see just how completely this movie belongs to him.

Road to Paloma contains a junkyard fistfight in which one of the pugilists gets bludgeoned in the face with a rusty gasoline can (yes, we hear the bridge of his nose snap); a sex scene with the ravishing Lisa Bonet (who eerily doesn't seem to have aged since her tenure on The Cosby Show); and the longest, most balletic ashes-spreading sequence in film history. There's an aerobic lap dance, a gruesome rape, more beatings.
Yet for all that, this film is numbingly dull, an outlaw-on-the-run saga as laconic and slow-moving as its fierce, hirsute protagonist (Game of Thrones' Jason Momoa, who also debuts as director). Wolf (Momoa), a Mojave loner, is hiding out somewhere in the Southwest after avenging his mother's murder.

Jason Momoa must be loving all the free publicity lately. It couldn't have come at a more perfect time. He's currently out promoting his latest film, a passion project of his, Road to Paloma, which he directed, co-wrote, and stars in. The film, which might not have much buzz otherwise, is getting plenty of attention now because everywhere Momoa goes, he's dogged by questions about his involvement with a certain DC tentpole that's on the horizon. Regardless of whether or not the rumors or true, Momoa likely couldn't be happier with the timing of it all.
So here we have a clip of yet another interview where Momoa dances around the topic of playing a superhero (with reports claiming he's lined up to play Aquaman in Batman v Superman and subsequent Justice League films). This time, he talks more about his natural inclinations, and what he thinks he'd be best...

Jason Momoa isn't just the most amazing Khal Drogo (Rip) ever, he's also a versatile actor-director whose new movie, "Road to Paloma," is also his feature-length directing debut.
The thriller centers around a man looking to escape his past (and the law) in the American West, all while riding the most American vehicle known to man: the motorcycle. So, in honor of this journey (and motorcycles), we asked Momoa to share his five favorite road movies, one of which will probably surprise you.
Curious? Here are Jason Momoa's #5WorthWatching: Road Movies Edition.

With roles in HBO's hit "Game Of Thrones," Sundance Channel's acclaimed "The Red Road," having been chosen to play "Conan The Barbarian," and an upcoming expected part in the highly anticipated "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice," there have been no shortage of opportunities for Jason Momoa. But the actor clearly has aspirations to tell his own stories, and experience moviemaking from behind the camera as well. He does just that with "Road To Paloma," co-writing, directing and starring in the film. And today, we have an extensive look at the moody picture he's put together. Co-starring Lisa Bonet, Sarah Shahi, Wes Studi and many more, the movie tells the story of Wolf, a Native American man who goes on the run after killing the man who murdered his mother. It'll be a journey of redemption and justice, with this lengthy clip from "Road To Paloma" highlighting the tenor...

There's been an onslaught of "Jason Momoa is Aquaman" rumors lately. Doesn't matter where you go. Doesn't matter who you talk to. Everyone is convinced that the Stargate: Atlantis actor has signed on to be part of the DC Cinematic Universe. So it was only natural for late night host Jimmy Kimmel to pop the question when he had the actor on to promote his current project, Road To Paloma- which he directed.
The actor, though, continues to deny that a deal is done. He refers to them as rumors, admits it would be cool, and leaves it as a "wait and see" sort of situation. You can view Momoa's comments themselves below (they begin at the :21 mark):
What do you make of all this? I actually get the feeling that all of these premature reports may be interfering with the rumors becoming reality. He may very...

Jason Momoa playing Aquaman in future DC films seems all but confirmed at this point, although we've yet to really gauge Khal Drogo's reaction to this news until now. Jason Momoa takes the bulk of his time talking about Road To Paloma, a film he directed and co-wrote himself, but Mr. Kimmel can't help but try to pry some information on the Man of . . . Aqua. Take a look: If you ask me, Momoa's poker face is not that great. However, he seems like a good-natured guy and is also...

Apparently, Jason Momoa likes road movies. Having previously written and directed the short film, Brown Bag Diaries: Ridin’ In The Blinds In B Minor in 2010, he is now making his feature-length directorial debut with The Road To Paloma. With Momoa (Game Of Thrones, Conan The Barbarian) also taking the starring role, the first trailer for the dramatic thriller has arrived online.
If you had been hoping for something interesting and fresh from this new cinematic voice, then you might as well move along. For here we have the standard, tired tale of a man seeking revenge for the rape and murder of a woman – this time, his mother. As we have come to expect, he takes the law into his own hands, and becomes a fugitive from the FBI. So far, so tedious.
The problem is, we have seen it all before. A female ‘character’ (either onscreen, or as a...

Over the course of his career, Jason Momoa has made a name for himself with roles in numerous tv shows, including Stargate: Atlantis, Baywatch, Game of Thrones, and The Red Road. Fans of the performer were intrigued to learn that Momoa’s next feature film, his first since 2012′s Bullet to the Head, would have the actor make his feature film directing debut as well. Titled Road To Paloma, Momoa also shares screenwriting duties with Robert Homer Mollohan and Jonathan Hirschbien, and stars alongside Lisa Bonet, Chris Browning, and Tye Alexander. The first trailer for the film has now been released, and can be seen below.

Whenever an actor goes behind the camera, the results can be dicey. But at the same time—as we highlighted in our feature 10 Strong Directorial Debuts From Actors-Turned-Directors—sometimes that venture behind the camera can result in something better than expected. And while we had our doubts about Jason Momoa doing his thing as a director for "Road To Paloma," it seems to be delivering exactly what it set out. Momoa not only directs, but he wrote the film and stars in it, playing a Native American on the run from the FBI after he takes the law into his own hands when his mother is raped and killed. So yeah, a moody road picture with punching and brooding, and that's pretty much what the trailer delivers, along with a hint of sexytimes. Sarah Shahi and Lisa Bonet (!?) co-star in this one, and again, our expectations aren't exactly high for this,...

On paper, it makes perfect sense why Jason Momoa would be cast as main character Phillip Kopus in the Sundance Channel drama "The Red Road." He's had plenty of television experience and is a native American himself (Hawaiian, not Mohave like his character), but surprisingly it wasn't either of those factors that caught Sundance's eye.
Instead, it was Momoa's directorial debut. The film, called "Road to Paloma," was submitted to the Sundance Film Festival at around the time that "The Red Road" was casting. It has since made its premiere at the festival, and it was because of that project that both Momoa and his wife Lisa Bonet, who plays his love interest in "Road to Paloma," were brought into Sundance's second original scripted series.
"When we submitted it to Sundance, they were looking for a Native guy," Momoa tells Zap2it during a recent lunch promoting "The Red Road.

Jason Momoa has confirmed that he turned down the role of Drax in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy...
Rumours had been rife around the time that Marvel's upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy was being cast that Jason Momoa - he of Conan, Game Of Thrones and Stargate: Atlantis fame - had been close to getting a role. Turns out that particular rumour was true, and that Momoa turned the role of Drax down.
Chatting to Zap2It, Momoa was adamant that the man who eventually took the role, Dave Bautista, was "perfect for that role". Momoa instead opted to press ahead with his directorial debut, Road To Paloma.
Of playing Drax, he said that "it didn't really fit in my time because I've done so many things where I don't say much and I'm coloured up and I have my shirt off again. I...

Gadot was recently cast as Wonder Woman in the eagerly-anticipated film, which at this time, has no plot we can share with you. Momoa has completed work on Road to Paloma, which marks his feature-length directorial debut, which he stars in alongside Sarah Shahi, Lisa Bonet, Michael Raymond-James and Wes Studi. Though he’s probably best known for wielding a big sword in the Conan remake and mounting a tiny woman in HBO’s Game of Thrones, it turns out Jason Momoa also fancies himself a director of films. Or, at the very least, he’s now directed one feature film, and thanks to a partnership with WWE Studios and Anchor Bay, that movie is going to be brought to audiences in North America, the UK, and Australia/New Zealand. The film is called Road to Paloma, and it stars Momoa himself, as well as his co-writer Robert Homer Mollohan, in an adventure tale that almost sounds too ridiculously chest-beating and man-affirming to be real. I mean, honestly, I’ve never actually seen that show Renegade that Lorenzo Lamas used to be on, but when I read the plot synopsis for Road to Paloma, it sounds to me like it’s exactly what watching a season of Renegade...
