'The Lion Guard: Battle for the Pride Lands' manages to regain footing with the original 'The Lion Guard' film, which is kinda impressive given how poor the last one is.
It's still nothing all that good, but given what it is it's an alright film. The plot is much more interesting, as we also get some backstory for 'The Lion King' villain Scar. The ending does set-up the television episodes too much, though.
Elsewhere, the cast are all fine if unnoteworthy. The animation remains satisfactory, while the songs are marginally improved. I was expecting this to be on the same negative level as 'The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar', but it actually surpassed it fairly comfortable.
These are, obviously, low quality films in the grand scheme of things. However, you can't argue they serve a purpose. I'd only say Disney should've targeted families as opposed to just the younger audience.
