Three weeks after the release of Netflix’s Parasyte: The Grey, an adaptation of the cultish sci-fi horror manga series, it stays as a prominent feature of the platform’s global chart. However, there is a big choice of other worth-watching Korean horror movies and series for chilling evenings, with 7 of them being enlisted here.
1. Train to Busan (2016)
The first feature that presumably comes to mind here is this zombie horror, starring Squid Game’s Gong Yoo and Eternals’ Ma Dong-seok.
Following a train overrun by relentless zombies, it offers a spectacular claustrophobic roller coaster full of twists.
2. Goedam (2020)
Next comes the short-form horror anthology, which is quite a rare subgenre for South Korean filmmakers, which tells eight separate nail-biting ghost stories, reminiscent of Korean folktales. It’s a must-watch for the admirers of this country’s culture.
3. The Call (2020)

Beskop Tshechu is the only documentary, animation and short film festival in Bhutan and is dedicated to promoting creative filmmaking and visual arts in the country through film screenings, awards and events. The festival was born out of an urgent need in the country for an alternative platform for filmmakers and audiences. As short films, documentaries and animations are rarely made for commercial gain, they are a very special and authentic form of expression, storytelling and communication which is vital for the growth of a creative and meaningful film industry in Bhutan. Many successful filmmakers around the world first hone their skills and talent by first attempting short forms of filmmaking. In a time where Bhutan's film industry is mainly modelled around and informed by commercial style films of melodrama and dance, the film industry suffers, and there are few meaningful/creative films with an authentic Bhutanese voice. The 1996 version of The Island of Dr. Moreau, which was directed by John Frankenheimer (who replaced Richard Stanley after half a week of filming), is a well-known disaster, but that was just one of many cinematic adaptations H.G. Wells’ 1896 novel has received over the years. That novel has inspired the 1932 classic Island of Lost Souls, 1959’s Terror Is a Man, 1972’s The Twilight People, a 1977 film that actually kept the The Island of Dr. Moreau title, the Full Moon production Dr. Moreau’s House of Pain, and more. Now we can add another title to the list, as Deadline reports that Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins has signed on to star in the The Island of Dr. Moreau reimagining Eyes in the Trees.

Who is Dr. John Watson without Sherlock Holmes? CBS aims to find out as they have given a straight-to-series order to Watson, a drama series starring Morris Chestnut as the title character.
Set one year after the death of Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty, Watson will see “Dr. John Watson resume his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though—Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.“
Craig Sweeny created the series and will serve as showrunner and executive producer. He also has experience with the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as he served as a writer and executive producer on Elementary, which starred Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson.

The sequel to 2018’s Believer has left fans more than dissatisfied. It’s already an established fact that the only good thing about the film is Han Hyo-Joo’s performance, which has taken over social media for her badassery alone. The film attempts to fill the gaps like plastering over the Mona Lisa, making a terrible sequel to a well-received film. What made Believer a big hit was the impressive cast, the action-packed story that kept you on the edge of your seats, as well as the impactful ending. Believer 2 begins before that open ending, leading up to the moments there, and then completely ruins it. We suppose you can’t trust anything with Believer in the title right now. If you’re looking for some fantastic Korean thrillers to make yourself feel better after seeing this blunder, here’s the perfect list for you.

It is abundantly clear that the noir genre is making a huge comeback in the Asian market. Just last week, we saw Lost in the Stars, the Chinese film, come to Netflix with a similar influence. The action genre itself has had a renaissance this year, with John Wick coming back and a remake of the classic South Korean revenge thriller Oldboy. It’s always fantastic to see a female-driven action film, especially when she defies all laws of physics and is absolutely badass. In this oversaturated world of revenge thrillers, Ballerina sticks out like a radiant gem. We can’t go without comparing the beauty of this film to an actual ballet, with scenes of pastel colors and dream-like sequences that make everything look a little less deranged and much more peachy. It is a jarring contrast with the commitment the film has to violence and the race against evil.

Back in 2021, it was revealed that the legendary George A. Romero (who passed away in 2017) had left behind a treatment for the “seventh and final installment” in his Dead franchise – following Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, and Survival of the Dead. The story Romero had come up with used a title than many fans expected him to use for his follow-up to Day, Twilight of the Dead, and the team of Joe Knetter, Robert Lucas, and Paolo Zelati, who also worked on the treatment with Romero, were working on fleshing it out into a screenplay. Last month, we heard that Twilight of the Dead had secured funding from Roundtable Entertainment. And now we know who’s going to direct the film: Session 9 director Brad Anderson!

Stars: Cam Gigandet, Natalie Burn, Ser’Darius Blain, Jason Patric, Nicole Arlyn, Orlando Jones, Pancho Moler, D.Y. Sao | Written by Chad Law, Shane Dax Taylor | Directed by Timothy Woodward Jr.
As Til Death Do Us Part opens The Best Man sits in a pew working on his speech as upbeat music plays in the background. That’s followed by similar glimpses of other wedding party members prepping for the ceremony. A flashback to The Bride and Groom, nobody in this film has a name, on vacation serves to reinforce the happy image.
But Til Death Do Us Part isn’t a Hallmark Channel rom-com or Lifetime Channel thriller. Because when The Bride gets cold feet and bails on the wedding, we find out everyone involved in the ceremony is a highly skilled assassin. Now the stood-up Groom wants more than just his ring back, and their employer doesn’t take resignations well.

With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.
It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.
The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally returning to the action genre four years after his last film. "Breakout," a prison escape thriller from director Scott Waugh, is currently set to begin shooting later this year, according to Deadline. The film will end up marking the first time Schwarzenegger has appeared on the big screen since 2019, when he starred in the legacy sequel "Terminator: Dark Fate." Although the former action superstar and ex-governor of California has a number of additional projects in the works, "Breakout" seems to be the most classically Schwarzenegger-ian action movie on his docket and places the actor in the lead role.
Schwarzenegger famously stepped away from the limelight to pursue his political career for several years, prior to returning to acting. He made a small cameo in 2010's "The Expendables," which released near the end of his governorship, before becoming part of the main cast in the next two sequels.

Spoilers for "Star Wars: The Mandalorian" Chapter 17 - The Apostate follow.
On the third season premiere of "The Mandalorian," there was a striking moment in hyperspace. As Grogu looks out at the streaking tunnel of lightspeed, he sees a figure fading in and out of the blue. The silhouette becomes more prominent and he realizes it's a creature out there.
The camera pulls back to reveal many of these creatures, surrounding the Mandalorian's modified N1 starfighter. Grogu can hardly believe it and crawls out of his pod to join a sleeping Din Djarin for comfort after witnessing such a spectacle.
These shadows we see are purrgils —mythical creatures that can travel through hyperspace all on their own, causing a hazard for spacers flying through their migration patterns. They're beautiful sights, doubly so in their first live-action appearance, and they have a very important role in the "Star Wars" mythos...

Apple Orders Drama Series ‘Last Frontier’ Starring Jason Clarke From Jon Bokenkamp, Richard D’Ovidio
Apple has given a series order to the drama “The Last Frontier” with Jason Clarke set to play the lead role, Variety has learned.
The series hails from creators Jon Bokenkamp, who previously created the hit NBC series “The Blacklist,” and Richard D’Ovidio, who previously worked with Bokenkamp on the 2013 film “The Call” as well as on “The Blacklist” and “The Blacklist: Redemption.”
In the 10-episode series, Clarke will star as US Marshal Frank Remnick, the lone Marshal in the barrens of Alaska. Per the official logline, “Frank’ s jurisdiction is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with international political implications.”
Bokenkamp, D’Ovidio, and Clarke all serve as executive producers on the show.

In this modern age, it is often desirable to make a prominent tool that happens to be in almost everyone’s hands, such as the cell phone, the crux of horror stories.
No longer is it necessary for scary stories to revolve around complex gizmos or extremely complex imaginary objects: cell phones can easily be the focus of these stories instead.
This is just one instance of how modern technology has inspired a new generation of horror.
What aspects of cell phones have been explored in this new generation?
Many fiction books, such as Stephen King’s The Call, depict cell phones as a medium through which disaster strikes. In this novel, a signal transmitted through cell phones transforms people into zombies.
Although cell phones do indeed transmit signals, this tale is definitely far-fetched. These stories have depended on the basic functionality of modern day items to develop scary tales.

February is the shortest month of the year but Prime Video is paying that no mind with its jam-packed list of new releases for February 2023.
This really is an uncommonly stuffed month on the Amazon streamer and it all starts with a handful of Amazon Originals. Amazon’s original offerings kick off with the release of Dave Franco-directed romcom Somebody I Used to Know on Feb. 10. That is followed by Carnival Row season 2 – a gritty fantasy crime drama is set in a world of steampunky fairies. The show stars Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevigne and this batch of episodes will be its swan song. Meanwhile The Consultant on Feb. 24 is a dark comedy workplace thriller starring Christoph Waltz.
The biggest hits this month, however, might just be some recent cinema faves. If February is for lovers, Amazon didn’t get the memo as there are quite a few horror movies of note here.
