Stitchers season 3 gets off to an entertaining start with the premiere, in which the team is facing a couple of problems: Kirsten is still trapped in her memory, and once they get her out, they're all facing reassignment (except for Kirsten, of course).
But a stitch in "Out of the Shadows" allows for Kirsten to not only try to get what she wants (her team staying where they are) but also for someone to send her a message.

A year after Fox revived The X-Files, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are once again stepping into the roles of Dana Scully and Fox Mulder for a new audiobook. Why the writers credited on a movie are rarely the only ones who put the screenplay together....
The Wizard Of Oz, since its initial release in 1939, has richly deserved its long-cemented status as an all-time classic. A regular resident in the IMDb top 250 films of all time, and a part of many people’s DVD collection, it’s a film that I’d wager more and more people fall in love with each year. Long may that continue.

If you’re a regular reader of this site, you’ll be well aware that Den of Geek are huge fans of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So when we were approached about speaking to Sebastian Evans, the composer of the show, we were thrilled. Not only would we be able to gain some insight into an under-investigated area of television making, but we’d get to talk about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The music on the show is great (you’ll find us calling for a release of the show's score towards the bottom of this article), so this felt like a particularly exciting opportunity).

Looks like Paramount has all but shelved its live-action Tmnt franchise for the foreseeable future, after Out of the Shadows producer Andrew Form conceded to Collider that it’s unlikely a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 will ever materialize.
Much of that comes down to Out of the Shadow‘s poor box office returns, pulling in only $245 million worldwide. That’s a marked dip from the 2014 original, which managed to reach within touching distance of half a billion. And so, Tmnt looks set to tumble onto the back-burner at Paramount – Transformers and other Hasbro movies will likely take precedent – but Form did at least hint that there could be another Turtles movie further down the line.
Per Collider:
I don’t think there’s Turtles 3, but I wouldn’t say there’s never going to be another Turtles movie. We were obviously surprised at the box office results. We loved the movie.

Regardless of how you felt about 2014's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there's no question that it's sequel, Out Of The Shadows, was an improvement. Sure, it may have been marginal at best, but the second film incorporated not only more of the characters from the classic cartoon, but also the tone. It wasn't a home run by any means, but still provided some decent entertainment. Sadly, the box office numbers... Read More...

If you can do an interview in person, it’s usually better to do so. It’s just easier to communicate with someone in the same room as you, from timing to noticing clues as to when they’re bored of your stupid questions. But interviewing Pete Ploszek over the phone comes with a benefit.
Pete Ploszek plays Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows. He physically plays him, but you wouldn’t know it to look at him because of the use of motion capture technology (a mixture of visual effects science and ancient magic rituals). I’ve met Mr Ploszek before and he looks like a nice, pleasant human being rather than a giant mutant reptile. But he’s also the voice of Leonardo and so,...

If you didn't like the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, chances are the sequel would have done nothing to change your mind despite the inclusion of a number of fan-favourite characters. Out of the Shadows brought the likes of Krang, Bepop, Rocksteady, and Casey Jones to the big screen, and while it was definitely watchable, it still wasn't the movie most fans of these characters actually wanted to see. If that's how you feel about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, then you'll love this Honest Trailer as it takes aim at pretty much every new and returning addition, not to mention the fact that the four heroes in a half shell aren't actually ninjas! With the sequel underperforming at the box office, who knows if we'll get a third instalment, but at least this look at the movie is a lot of fun...

The risk-averse nature of filmmaking means that the world’s more maverick and outrageous writers and directors have to make do with relatively low budgets. A spluttering opening weekend makes Independence Day 2 the latest sequel to underperform in 2016. Ryan wonders what's going on...
By and large, critics didn't really like Independence Day: Resurgence. But then again, they didn't much care for 2012. Or The Day After Tomorrow. Or White House Down. Or pretty much any of the big, glossy entertainments director Roland Emmerich has brought us over the course of his long career. As Emmerich recently said himself, "If you went by the critics, I shouldn't make movies."
But as Michael Bay knows only too well, critical notices don't sell tickets, and Emmerich's films reliably sell at the box office. Away from the smaller-scale passion projects like Anonymous and Stonewall, Emmerich's effects-led disaster-adventure movies have made millions, even when their aggregate scores on Rotten Tomatoes have struggled to pass the 50 percent mark. So what's going on with Independence Day: Resurgence? Domestically, the invasion...

Moviegoers were content to keep swimming with Dory this weekend as the new releases didn't stir audiences. Well that's not wholly true. Moviegoers turned out for other water sports like water skiing on Daniel Radcliffe's corpse in Swiss Army Man (crowded houses but only available in NY & La) and shark dodging with Blake Lively in The Shallows which had a solid per screen average, a low budget, and surprisingly good reviews. That triple combo could signify big profits for The Shallows ahead if the film finds legs in July, especially if it doesn't lose momentum over the 4th of July holiday week frenzy when The Bfg, Tarzan, and The Purge 3 are all newly available to moviegoers.

It’s now been made clear on multiple occasions that the DC TV Universe isn’t going to be crossing over with any of the Dceu films, which means we’re never going to see Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow lining up alongside the rest of the Justice League. Perhaps, then, that’s why the Arrow star has given some thought to who he’d like to play in the cinematic universe if given a chance.
Talking in a recent interview to promote the release of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel, Amell revealed that he actually has his sights set on one of Batman’s rogues.
“I always get this question. I think all the superheroes are taken now. I’ll play The Riddler, okay? It’s a villain, but I like The Riddler.”
The chances of that happening are obviously somewhere between slim and none, but it does seem somewhat appropriate that the actor would pick a Batman villain when you take into account just how much Arrow has borrowed from the Caped Crusader’s world over the past few years.
Of course, Amell clearly isn’t campaigning for the role, but chances are that his big screen career is indeed about to take off in a major way after playing Casey Jones in Tmnt: Out of the Shadows. As a result, it will be interesting to see what other projects he takes on when not working on Arrow, though with the fifth season set to air this Fall, he’s definitely got a busy few months ahead of him.

It also helped that it's budget was only $40 million so it's already well on its way to profit. Contrast that to Warcraft's $160 million budget with a $24 million opening. Ouch. Still its foreign performance (nearing $300 million) should help it turn a profit. But one is reminded of The Golden Compass, another would be franchise that chose to end on a cliffhanger rather than telling a full story. Despite doing well overseas it never got a sequel. Maybe let your audience decide if they like your movie before ending with "to be continued..."?
None of the new limited releases did particularly well including our beloved The Fits which earned $16K in just 4 theaters. Even Love & Friendship & The Lobster appear to have peaked last weekend but we'll see if they can hold screens or expand again next week.
Expect a ton of the current movies to lose all oxygen next weekend when probable behemoth Finding Dory swims into town.

I'm always interested in seeing behind-the-scenes videos that include motion capture work. I'm fascinated by the collaboration between actors and the visual effects artists that results in a finished character we see on screen, and it's cool to get a sense of how much each side contributed. Looks like Paramount Pictures feels similarly, because the studio just released a new featurette for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows that reveals some footage of the actors on set in their mo-cap suits, and it's a cool little peek behind the curtain.
Tmnt: Out of the Shadows is in theaters right now.

Full Disclosure: I grew up a product of the 1980s and 1990s, which means I was a big fan of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books from Eastman & Laird, the original cartoon, and the first batch of live action Turtles flicks. I still have fond memories of riding my bike to the Fox Village Theater to see the original live action flick multiple times. Hell, I even had the movie novelization and soundtrack.
If the above disclosure describes you in way or the other, then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows was made with you in mind. It essentially feels like an almost two-hour apology to the hardcore fans of the series. As the movie runs along, tonally it felt like a live-action adaptation of a four-part episode of the original cartoon. In a sense, Out of the Shadows does for Ninja Turtles what G.I. Joe: Retaliation...

The antics of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Donatello were always going to be perfect for a franchise. Not only does it give a chance for adults to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane to their infancy when they used to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in cartoon and movie form, but it allows them to introduce the heroes in a half-shell to their offspring, too. But what are the chances that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows will be followed by another sequel? Well, according to its cast, that.s the plan. I had the opportunity to sit down with the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows last month, where I asked them about the potential of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3. And having only just made his debut as Casey Jones in Out Of The Shadows, Stephen Amell admitted that he is...

Welcome to the first really bad weekend of the summer. Even though this weekend saw three new wide-releases, it's still the lowest-grossing weekend of Summer 2016 so far.
The new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows," debuted at No. 1 with an estimated $35.3 million, but that's just over half of the $65.6 million debut that the previous "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" enjoyed two summers ago. Romance "Me Before You" did half as well as "Out of the Shadows," opening in third place with an estimated $18.3 million -- besting Warner Bros.' expectations. And Andy Samberg's boy-band mockumentary, "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping," underperformed with an estimated $4.6 million -- landing in eighth place. Woof.
Meanwhile, the modest sales of "Out of the Shadows" were enough to displace last week's winner, "X-Men: Apocalypse," which fell 66 percent in its second weekend to No. 2 with an estimated $22.3 million. Last week's big box office disappointment,...

Following a short and unremarkable one weekend run in the top spot, X-Men: Apocalypse slid a painful 66% this weekend, making way for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows to open at number one despite an unimpressive start of its own. Out of the Shadows banked $35 million which, when added with the $34 million earned in foreign markets, is less than a $70 million start against a $135 million production budget. That's unlikely to spell complete financial flop for the heroes on a half shell, but it certainly puts a crack in the viability of a third entry to this rebooted franchise. The opening is almost half of the $65 million start its predecessor enjoyed in 2014, a further indication that after only two movies, audiences are already weary of this Tmnt incarnation. Slipping to second place, X-Men: Apocalypse banked enough in its second weekend to finally cross the $100 million mark, something that other...

Don't you love headlines that are technically true but twisted to serve an agenda? If The Film Experience ran the world movies led by great actresses would always be event movies. Unfortunately for now we're stuck with The Lovely Laura Linney as a police chief within the context of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. [sigh] But what can you do? Summer is cruel that way.

As someone who didn't grow up a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I was pleasantly surprised by the first instalment. It wasn't exactly a great movie, but enjoyable enough, and with the addition of several fan-favourite characters (including Bepop, Rocksteady, Casey Jones, and Krang), Out of the Shadows should be even better, right? I wouldn't know...I'm waiting for this and Warcraft to hit Blu-ray! However, I'm sure plenty of you have gone to see the movie this weekend, so now you can share your thoughts on the movie in the poll and comments section below. While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hasn't exactly received good reviews (it holds a score of 37% on Rotten Tomatoes despite most critics saying it's better than the first), many fans do seem to have responded well to it. Were you one of them or are you hoping for a reboot of the franchise?...

Paramount’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” kicked off its opening weekend with $12.5 million in Friday box office returns. The sequel, again starring Megan Fox and Will Arnett, should easily win the weekend though prognosticators have downgraded its three-day tally from nearly $40 million to the low $30 millions. Based on the popular 1980s cartoon series, “Out of the Shadows” will likely top “X-Men: Apocalypse” for first place as Bryan Singer‘s superhero sequel for Fox finishes out its second weekend in theaters. The comic-book adaptation made $6.6 million on Friday, and seems poised for a second weekend of $22 million.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may be heroes on screen, but in real life they may cause more harm than good. According to the turtle protection organization American Tortoise Rescue, thousands of children purchased red-eared sliders, a type of turtle, after watching previous “Tmnt” films. The organization fears sales will spike after the “Tmnt” sequel “Out of the Shadows” opens this weekend. During these impulse buys, people tend to underestimate the responsibility it takes to care for the reptiles. American Tortoise Rescue urge parents to opt for a less lively alternative — a ninja toy. The 2014 “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot received terrible reviews, so why would they make a sequel? That’s exactly what critics are wondering as well. Critics are describing “Out of the Shadows” as “headache-inducing,” “amoral at best,” and “a strangely joyless exercise,” giving the film an accumulated score of 37 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. “The current iteration of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ is a toxic alchemy combining nostalgia, CGI, and a bit of cultural appropriation thrown in for good measure,” said TheWrap’s film critic Michael Nordine. “ ends up a soupy mess — director David Green’s sequel has turtles, but not much.

After a slow start today with a haul of around $10 million ($2 million of which came from Thursday evening showing), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows looks set to emerge as the winner at the North American box office with a debut somewhere in the $27 million - $30 million range. That should mean it reaches the #1 spot, but it could still be a pretty close race. According to The Hollywood Reporter, X-Men: Apocalypse is set to earn around $8 million today for a $26 million weekend, a decline of over 60%. However, should the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel underperform, it's possible that the divisive Bryan Singer helmed release will remain on top (it's worth noting that Out of the Shadows looks set to debut with half as much as its predecessor). X-Men: Apocalypse has now passed $300 million worldwide, a decent enough result, but far from amazing considering how long its been out in many overseas locations.

In the wake of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hitting the big screen back in 2014, very few critics were asking for more where it came from. Set photos during Teenage Mutant Ninja's Turtles: Out of the Shadows' on location shoot in NYC revealed that Megan Fox's April O'Neil would share screen time with the original April O'Neil from the 1990 live-action film, Judith Hoag. Details on Hoag's role were never revealed but cryptic tweets last May pretty much confirmed Hoag's cameo and encounter with the Turtles. Perhaps her character will show up in deleted scenes or an extended cut? Teenage Mutant Ninja's Turtles: Out of the Shadows is expected to narrowly edge out X-Men: Apocalypse for the #1 spot at the domestic box office this weekend but is currently tracking to gross only half of the 2014 film's $65 million weekend haul. Starring Megan Fox, Stephen Amell, Johnny Knoxville, Tony Shalhoub, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Brian Tee, Will Arnett, Gary Anthony Williams, and WWE Superstar Sheamus, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows hits Us theaters today.

Late in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, one of our heroes tells another to simply accept the insanity around them and “just roll with it.” By the way this sequel turned out, it’s easy to see how that mantra might have guided the film’s development from the very start. After all, the 2014 franchise reboot divided fans of the heroes in a half-shell by making some radical changes to the mythology, earning unfavorable comparisons to producer Michael Bay’s Transformers films. Considering that Megan Fox assumes the role of April O’Neil and the climactic battle involves a very robotic-looking Shredder, the film’s critics certainly were at least somewhat justified in their collective response.

The “heroes in a half-shell” have repeatedly been reintroduced for almost three decades. Even for fans, it’s hard to keep track of all the different comic series, movies, cartoons, live-action shows, and action figure lines. Michael Bay and his team clearly noticed the success of the Nickelodeon cartoon that began in 2012 (and continues to be amazing) and seemed to think that they could carry over that popularity into a new live-action film series. And so the turtles were born again for the big-screen two years ago. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) introduced us to the next incarnation of our favorite crime-fighting turtle team, even if we didn’t exactly spend as much time with the brothers as we do with the bodacious brunette April O’Neil (that’s at least how Michelangelo would describe her). Never did we really just get a scene with the brothers outside of April’s...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows might have been met with some scathing reviews, but it doesn’t look as though it will be enough to stop the sequel from topping the box-office this weekend. However it’s not all good news for the film, because Out Of The Shadows isn’t expected to come anywhere near the total of its 2014 predecessor’s opening weekend haul. According to The Wrap, box office experts have estimated that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows will gross somewhere between $37 million and $40 million in the first few days after it hits cinemas. That’s a rather huge drop off of around $25 million, as the origin story for the heroes in a half-shell amassed $65.5 million just two years ago. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles originated in 1984 as a self-published comic book by two guys in New Hampshire, intended as a one-off parody of Cerebus, New Mutants, and the work of Frank Miller. More than 30 years on, there have been multiple comic series, four TV show adaptations, numerous video games, countless toys, and now six movies. It’s a bona-fide cultural phenomenon. And yet all you have to do is recite the name to remind yourself that it was all intended as a joke. Nostalgia is a helluva thing.
