Created by Damon Lindelof, Jeffrey Lieber, and J. J. Abrams, the sci-fi adventure drama Lost has been hailed as one of the greatest TV hits of all time. Following a group of plane crash survivors on a mysterious island, the series captivated audiences over the course of six seasons and won numerous awards along the way, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series.

And it also suffered from what has plagued many greatest TV hits, a controversial finale, leaving fans disappointed and divisive of something that they have followed for years. The series creator Lindelof, however, didn’t take kindly to the criticism and defended the finale as he went on to proclaim that he would never work with the same actors again, something that he later realized was not a great commitment on his part.

Some of the most boldly assured first features by women in the past 20 years have been horror. Think Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook, Julia Ducournau’s Raw or Rose Glass’ Saint Maud. On the strength of The Watchers, Ishana Night Shyamalan, the 23-year-old daughter of You Know Who, fails to make that list, despite having what appear to be considerable resources thrown at her. While Dakota Fanning does yeoman’s work in the central role, this is basically the usual Irish hooey about faeries and changelings and other pesky entities dressed up in ponderous Jungian doubles theory.
Produced by dad M. Night Shyamalan and adapted from the novel by West Irish author A.M. Shine (apparently a real name), the movie charges right into its souped-up atmospherics, accompanied by Abel Korzeniowski’s hyperventilating score.

On her new single, “Lost,” Soccer Mommy cloaks a void of despair in swirling acoustic guitars, orchestral strings, and chirping birdies. It’s a beautiful tribute to someone (she doesn’t say for certain who) — and the artist, whose real name is Sophie Allison, sings the words in a deceptively wistful way that belies the underlying grief. “I’ve got a way of keeping her with me where I go,” she confides at one point in the song, “But how she feels I’ll never know … It’s lost to me.

Soccer Mommy — A.K.A Sophie Allison — debuted “Lost” during her short run of intimate, stripped-back shows in New York and Los Angeles (appropriately titled “The Lost Shows”) throughout the last week. It’s her first original tune since her excellent 2022 album Sometimes, Forever.

“Lost” is built mostly from an acoustic guitar, hearkening back to Soccer Mommy’s early days performing acoustic sets at DIY venues. “Lost in a way that don’t make sense/ Lost in a way that never ends,” she croons in the chorus, with plenty of longing baked into the song’s warm, dazzling arrangement.

Evangeline Lilly’s acting career has spanned 22 years, and in this period, she has worked in films like Real Steel, Crisis, The Hobbit, and many more films. However, her most iconic role would be that of Hope Van Dyne, which she has been portraying in Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man trilogy and Avengers: Endgame.

The role has not only earned her fame and love from fans around the world but also made her a critically praised name in the MCU. But what’s more surprising is that even though she has worked in four Marvel films, she has a remarkably modest net value compared to her peers.
Sadly, after entertaining movie enthusiasts for so many years, she has decided to step away from it all to follow her dharma.

A silent heroine, Canadian actress and author Evangeline Lilly managed to become popular despite never becoming part of the mainstream establishment. She made a name for herself in the series Lost and would later go on to achieve global fame by portraying Hope van Dyne in several MCU projects. Her performances have been praised on a regular basis, and her specific talent usually contributed to the quality of a project in a major way. Alongside the ones mentioned, she has also had memorable appearances in The Hurt Locker (2008), the sports drama Real Steel (2011), and in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit series, appearing in The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) as Tauriel.
But, while a lot of fans have been looking forward to her new projects, we have some disappointing news for them, as the actress has announced her retirement from acting on her Instagram profile.

Yesterday, Lost and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star Evangeline Lilly confirmed she's stepping away from acting for the foreseeable future. As a result, it appears her time as the McU's Hope Van Dyne has ended.
Lilly did leave the door open to possibly working in Hollywood again but seems to have no immediate plans to do so. In a statement shared with Variety, the actress also confirmed she's under no "contractual obligations to anybody."
That's almost certainly a reference to Marvel Studios and the fact she saw out her contract with the Ant-Man threequel.
"I have actually been on a hiatus from acting for the past three years already (since finishing work on 'Quantumania')," Lilly told the trade. "This time outside of the business has brought me a grounding sense of fulfillment and joy."

While, Hulu is not as flashy as some of the other streaming services like Netflix, Max, and Disney+, it has a solid library of shows that are both originals and licensed through various studios. Regarding sci-fi shows, Hulu doesn’t have any big names like 3 Body Problem or Westworld, but it makes up for that by carrying some great new and old shows like Devs and The X-Files, which were loved by millions of people. So, we thought of making a list of the best sci-fi TV shows you can find on Hulu right now.

Sony Pictures Television is shuttering its TriStar TV banner.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that TriStar TV exec vp Jennifer Turner and senior vp development Nicole Norwood are leaving as the division is being folded into the larger Sony TV fold. No additional layoffs are expected to come as part of the move.
Reps for Sony declined comment.
The decision to absorb TriStar TV into the larger Sony Pictures Television fold comes at a time of industry-wide consolidation as streamers, networks and studios alike right-size their programming and staffing needs in an era of belt-tightening following the end of the Peak TV phenomenon.
TriStar TV’s mission was to champion diverse, authentic characters and underrepresented voices. Those values have since been incorporated into the larger studio, overseen by Katherine Pope, to whom Turner reported. Sony Pictures Television Studios’ drama department will now oversee the development of current TriStar TV projects.

Nowadays, it seems like a quaint notion that a television series might stay on the air long enough to run out of ideas.
But almost fifty years ago, even a successful show like Happy Days wasn't immune to using outlandish stunts to bolster ratings.
And thank goodness for that, or we might all have been deprived of the cultural touchstone that is Fonzie jumping the shark.
Fonzie Jumps the Shark (And Enters History)
The phrase "jump the shark" has become shorthand for the moment when a television show loses its creative way and begins a downward spiral in quality and popularity.
However, when the actual shark jump happened in the "Hollywood: Part 3" episode of the show's fifth season, Happy Days hit number one in the Nielsen ratings.
The series aired for another six well-received seasons and even had successful spinoffs in the sitcoms Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy.

Want to take an island vacation this summer? All six seasons of Lost are returning to Netflix in the US on July 1, giving die-hard fans and newcomers alike a chance to enjoy the mind-bending drama all over again. The series originally ran from 2004 to 2010, premiering just days before Desperate Housewives and a few months before Grey’s Anatomy. It became an immediate hit, and it all came from an executive named Lloyd Braun sitting on a beach in Hawaii, thinking of ways to turn his vacation into a TV show. Inspired by the Tom Hanks movie Cast Away and the massive, game-changing reality competition series Survivor, Braun came up with a title — Lost — and a vague concept of plane crash survivors and total strangers learning to survive together while leaving their pasts behind.

Hollywood constantly brings a new generation of stars to the horror genre in an effort to draw in younger viewers and provide an abundance of thrills. One example of this is Tarot, the latest horror film from Sony Pictures that stars a number of well-known up-and-coming actors. The cast features Jacob Batalon from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avantika Vandanapu, the breakout cast member from Mean Girls.
Well, Tarot has caused quite a stir in the horror community as it heads to digital platforms much sooner than expected. Despite earning over 4 times its budget of $8 million, many horror fans are feeling slighted by the decision to release the film online so quickly.

There is nothing fun about watching your favorite TV show come to an end, but there are many ways to make a finale at least somewhat comforting and promising. Or, at the very least, entertaining enough that fans will remember it for a very long time.
Right now, due to the impact of the WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes on the television industry, there are many shows that are nearing their end. Whether any of them will come close to the finales on this list is questionable, but keep in mind these 10 shows that became a blueprint for wrapping up great storylines.

While the finale of Lost left many questions unanswered for fans, it still felt like a solid conclusion to the show's twisted storyline. Within two and a half hours of airtime, the show revealed that what many people thought was a dream was a version of the afterlife,...

He who watches the watchmen must light the lantern. Damon Lindelof, who ran HBO’s adaptation of Watchmen, will now take charge of a Green Lantern series titled Lanterns. And he’s not the only major name attached.
As James Gunn posted on social media over the weekend: “Yes, it’s true. Outside of Watchmen, Lindelof was of course a key contributor to Lost. As Gunn noted, Lanterns will also feature work by Ozark’s Chris Mundy and DC comics staple Tom King. Others that have been tied to the show include The Strain’s Justin Britt-Gibson, The Penguin’s Brennah Gibson and Animal Kingdom’s Vanessa Baden Kelly.

DC Studios' upcoming Green Lantern TV show, "Lanterns," has assembled its writer corps. Co-CEO James Gunn confirmed on Instagram today that the series' pilot script and show bible was written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and DC Comics writer Tom King, who has been part of the DC Universe's creative team since the start.
"Lanterns" was first announced in January 2023, along with the rest of the "Gods and Monsters" slate, as it's been dubbed by Gunn and his fellow co-ceo, Peter Safran. It's a soft reboot for the DC Extended Universe, which fizzled out into a succession of box office bombs, and is currently taking a bit of a breather while Gunn and Safran assemble this massive new slate of films and TV shows. Gunn is also getting personally stuck in, writing and directing the upcoming "Superman" movie reboot and continuing his creative duties on "Peacemaker" for season 2.

If there's one thing we've learned in this social media age, it's that some people have a very good memory (meaning a once innocent comment can come back to haunt even the best of us).
Earlier today, it was confirmed that Max's Lanterns has tapped Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof to pen the pilot and a "bible" for the long-awaited TV series. Now, James Gunn's one-time thoughts on the latter have been revealed in a resurfaced Facebook comment.
Way back on March 18, 2012, the DC Studios co-ceo and Superman director said, "Lindelof is close to Satan in my book because of the end of Lost. He's the Uri Gellar of storytellers, a total scam artist with no integrity whatsoever. And a liar."
Something must have changed since then as it was only a few hours ago that Gunn took to Instagram and Threads to proclaim "A hearty welcome...

The writer-producer, one of the co-creators of seminal adventure series Lost who later brought seminal comic Watchmen to the screen as an acclaimed, Emmy-winning HBO limited series, is part of the creative team behind Lanterns, the DC based-show from DC Studios.
Lanterns, based on the heroes seen in the Green Lantern comics, will be bringing prestige storytelling energy behind the scenes. Chris Mundy, the showrunner behind Netflix’s crime series Ozark, as well as Eisner-winning and long-time DC comic author Tom King round out the creative team, DC Studios co-head James Gunn announced on Instagram Saturday.
Gunn welcome Lindelof and Mundy into the DC family and said the trio had written a “wonderful” pilot script and bible, announcing that the series is now “putting together a crack team of writers.”

When the Emmy nominations are announced July 17, something will happen that hasn’t happened in 50 years: The nominees for best drama series will include only one previously nominated show, Netflix’s The Crown. I would love to be able to say that’s because there are so many great dramas out there and that TV Academy members are diligently watching them and championing different great ones this year. Such perennial nominees as HBO’s Succession and Westworld and AMC’s Better Call Saul have ended, along with second-tier contenders like Paramount+’s The Good Fight and Star Trek: Picard. Some ongoing, previously nominated shows were not back in time to be eligible, in some cases because of delays caused by the writers and actors strikes, including Netflix’s Stranger Things, Squid Game and Bodyguard; HBO/Max’s Euphoria,...
