One of the most enigmatic actors out there, Johnny Depp had a somewhat modest start as a regular on the TV series “21 Jump Street,” Depp has put together a remarkably diverse collection of film roles, most of which have one thing in common — he is drawn to playing outcasts or people who are on the edges of society who go their own way — and going his own way is certainly something that’s been a hallmark of this much-awarded actor’s career.
In Depp’s almost four-decade (beginning with 1984’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street”), he has earned a remarkable 10 Golden Globe Award nominations, winning the Best Actor prize for the 2007 musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” That film also garnered Depp his third Academy Award nomination (along with 2003’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” and 2004’s “Finding Neverland”). AnnaSophia’s Perspective on Height and Perception
“Everyone always says that guys are intimidated by me,” she told Teen Vogue in 2013, “but I seriously doubt it. I mean, I’m five-foot-nothing!”
“I think I must make a stank face,” she joked. “I loved high school,” AnnaSophia added.
“Everyone always asks me if the other kids treated me differently because of my career, but they didn’t. If you act weird, people are going to treat you weird, but if you’re just yourself, people respond to that.

Everyone’s favorite eccentric chocolatier is making an exciting — and very unexpected — career pivot: reality TV. A Willy Wonka reality competition show is headed to Netflix. Who says great TV ended with Succession?
Per Deadline, the streamer is preparing a reality competition series based on Roald Dahl’s 1964 children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory — which has already been adapted into three movies — but no other details are known yet. Warner Bros. Discovery is also expected to be involved somehow, given that it holds the rights to the films.

KonoSuba Reveals Unexpected Japanese Cabbage Field Collab - Main Image
KonoSuba is back, and with its new season comes new collaborations. One such collab is an unexpected KonoSuba crossover with a cabbage field in Japan.
Anime collaborations with Japanese cities or towns aren’t new, but this might be the first time that a place being highlighted is a cabbage farm.
It may seem random at first, but it makes a lot of sense given how cabbages were a memorable part of one KonoSuba episode.
Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for KonoSuba season 1, so proceed with caution.
What’s up with KonoSuba and Cabbages?
Back in KonoSuba season 1, the alarm was sounded in the city of Axel, meaning capable adventurers in the city mobilized to help defend it from a major threat.
To Kazuma’s surprise, the threat turns out to be an army of flying cabbage monsters instead of the Devil King's army.

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

There is no denying that Robin Williams was one of the greatest entertainers to have graced the industry. His on-screen presence, improvisation skills, and comedic timing, all contributed to making him one of the best comedians of all time. Therefore, it isn’t surprising that the financiers behind the 1992 biographical drama, Chaplin, wanted to cast him in the lead role. After all, he was taking the comedy genre by storm, wasn’t he?
Robin Williams in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009)
As fate would have it, though, the role ended up going to Robert Downey Jr. who did an incredible job and did justice to the life and personality of Charlie Chaplin. Appreciated by many for his performance, Robert Downey Jr. ended up receiving his first Oscar nomination, all thanks to this very role.

Josh O’Connor has his sights set on his dream role: playing a “darker version” of Willy Wonka.
Much like his “Challengers” co-star and “West Side Story” alum Mike Faist, O’Connor is looking to lean into the musical theater elements of the famed fictional chocolatier. Timothée Chalamet most recently played the Roald Dahl character in “Wonka,” with Johnny Depp and Gene Wilder leading other iterations of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
In a recent WSJ Magazine video, O’Connor revealed that Wonka is his ideal part.
“I would love to play Willy Wonka, but like a dark Willy Wonka,” he said. “I know they’ve just made a ‘Wonka’ film with Timothée Chalamet, but I would really like to play a story of darker version of him.”
According to O’Connor, the original portrayal of the character by actor Wilder is a haunting performance.
“I think Gene Wilder’s version of him is very dark.

Colman Domingo never imagined he would be “a 100 of anything.”
“The fact that I’m one of the 100 most influential people in the world feels like I have a lot to live up to, and I want to because I don’t take that lightly,” Domingo told Variety on the red carpet at the Time100 Gala Thursday night. “The fact that someone in some committee believed that I’m impacting many people on this planet, I feel like now the work begins even more so. I know that I have to be even more mindful and thoughtful about how I create and the work that I do.”
Hosted by Taraji P. Henson at Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City, the Time100 Gala celebrated this year’s most influential figures across film, sports, music and more, including Domingo, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, 21 Savage, Human Rights Campaign president Kelley Robinson, Fantasia Barrino and Henson herself.

Timothée Chalamet had a dream run at the box office, with his last two films Wonka and Dune: Part Two earning huge numbers globally. The actor has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood right now and has a slate of high-profile projects in the pipeline. His next project is the James Mangold-directed Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.
Chalamet has reportedly decided to use his own singing voice in the biopic instead of lip-syncing to Dylan’s songs. The actor had also flexed his vocal cords in last year’s musical comedy Wonka. A statement from director Paul King about Chalamet’s singing talents might be the reason why Mangold was sure of the Call Me By Your Name star playing Bob Dylan.

Timothée Chalamet’s journey in Hollywood has been an inspiring one. From making his name as a young star in independent films to bagging huge mainstream projects like Dune and Wonka, the actor has proved that he has the personality and talent to juggle both worlds with aplomb.

With the recently released Dune 2, Chalamet has further showcased his growth as an actor through the evolution of his character, Paul Atreides. But the Oscar nominee’s casting was criticized when he was initially signed on for the role by Denis Villeneuve. The director, though, was steadfast in his reasoning behind the decision and elaborated on why he was insistent on only Chalamet playing the role.

It is difficult to imagine anyone other than Timothée Chalamet portraying the central character Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune franchise.

John Travolta is all about fair play, and he couldn’t be prouder that he’s got a real pal to share one of his greatest box office achievements with, four decades after it originally happened. Here’s what he has to say about it.

Stating that Tim Burton loves B-movie horror is a little like saying the grass is green and the sky is blue. The director has spent his entire career paying homage to classic Hammer horror pictures and low-budget genre fare, from his blood-drenched, practically black-and-white "Sleepy Hollow" and "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" adaptations to his gleefully bizarre alien invasion flick "Mars Attacks!" and his biopic about the grandaddy of cult camp cinema, "Ed Wood." Seeing as his 1988 hit "Beetlejuice" draws inspiration from many of those same influences, it's only fitting that his long-awaited sequel, "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," tipped its hat to them directly with its alternate title.
An earlier iteration of the movie, titled "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian," entered development in the '90s and would've very much embodied what audiences expected from Burton in that decade (which is to say its screenplay was strikingly unruly and more than a little horny). "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,...

Actor John Travolta’s worldwide fame began when he starred in two cultural paradigm-shifting films: Saturday Night Fever, and Grease. The star achieved a rare feat that few actors had done: staying at the top two spots at the domestic box office within eight months. However, now that record seems to be broken by Timothée Chalamet.
Timothée Chalamet’s starring roles in Wonka and the recent Dune: Part Two have made him a star like no other. The films were at the top spot in their opening weeks and only slightly slowed down with new releases. While Wonka grossed $218 million domestically in its lifetime run, Dune: Part Two currently stands at over $494 million and is only expected to earn more in the coming weeks due to less competition.

Wonka was one of the biggest wild cards of 2023. A prequel to the popular Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Timothée Chalamet feature wasn’t exactly on many people’s list of films to watch last year. In fact, the buzz for the movie only got worse when the trailers were released as it didn’t seem that the Oscar nominee was a right fit for the role. However, the review embargo was lifted weeks in advance and to the surprise of many, Wonka was highly praised by critics. Not everyone in the mainstream listens to critics though. There are plenty of...

After Wonka and Dune Part Two, it seems like Timothée Chalamet is shaping up to become Hollywood’s next leading man, rivaling the likes of Leonardo Di Caprio and Tom Cruise during thier younger days. The actor has left his mark on the box office, causing studios to look at the young actor as a bankable talent who is worth signing for bigger-budget films.
Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides in Dune: Part One.
On the other hand, Tom Holland, despite bringing in a considerable amount of money playing Spider-Man, has been unable to stick the landing with films and franchises outside of the MCU, such as the Uncharted series. It seems that despite being a part of bigger box office premieres than Chalamet, Holland will be easily eclipsed by him when it comes to a paycheck.

In the run-up to the release of last December’s “Wonka,” Timothée Chalamet made a surprise visit to New York’s Hudson Yards for a screening of the fantasy musical for kids enrolled in After-School All-Stars. With the holiday season in full swing, the 28-year-old actor handed out gift bags filled with Xboxes, Nikes and, naturally, chocolate bars. It was a plan he concocted on his own and was followed by similar events, such as a January visit to a Minnesota high school, where he took selfies with students from the drama program.
“He took every kid’s hand who came. He took a photograph with everybody who asked him, which was pretty much everyone,” recalls “Wonka” producer David Heyman. “That was about his heart. But he’s also very savvy about marketing. He gets very engaged and brings ideas to the table.”
Chalamet is that rare performer who appeals to audiences of all ages.

Since we’re talking about the short films, I’ll accordingly keep this brief. Here are five reasons why “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” will win the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film.
1. It’s the clear standout in the category.
All five nominees are exceptional — the others being “The After,” “Red, White and Blue,” “Invincible” and “Knight of Fortune.” In a less competitive year, any one of them could easily walk away with the prize. But it’s simply too hard for anything to top “Henry Sugar.” Based on the short story of the same name by celebrated children’s author Roald Dahl, the film is seamlessly adapted to the screen with the same charm, wit and magic of the original tale. “Henry Sugar” features superb acting, exquisite costume and production design, beautiful cinematography and sharp editing. It holds an outstanding 95% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes,...

In this brave new world of "Star Wars" fandom, it's almost unfathomable that there exist elements within the various films, novels, comics, and TV shows that don't have some sort of backstory or origin point. While obviously this stems from the huge fanbase for "Star Wars" loving the fictional universe so much that they wish to study and know absolutely everything that's in it, this trend also originated out of an inherent idea popularized by creator George Lucas with the very first movie in the franchise back in 1977 -- the implication that we're seeing a small part of a larger world, and every planet, ship, and creature we see (whether in the foreground or background) has its own history and story.
It's a powerful implication, and one that's essential to constructing a wholly fictional universe. Yet, of course, it's mostly hogwash -- or at least it used to be. While...

Rebecca Ferguson had quite the tale to tell while promoting Dune: Part Two.
The actress, who returns to Arrakis for the sequel, sat down with Northern Ireland’s U105 radio station to discuss Denis Villeneuve’s film. During the conversation, she shared a funny story she had just heard about her 5-year-old daughter that involved an Nsfw Timothée Chalamet greeting card.
“It’s Valentine’s Day, right?” she began. “I don’t even know if you can show this or whatever, and my daughter is in a shop with my husband. I was told this today. … She goes up to a card, and she goes, ‘This is perfect for Mommy.'”
She continued, “It’s a picture of Timothée, who she thought was her dad, because it looks like my husband, and it says, ‘Will you Wonka my Willy?’ … She doesn’t get it. She’s like, ‘Oh it’s Willy Wonka.

Ever since people saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it has been somewhat of a dream to visit Willy Wonka’s incredible, yet fictional, chocolate factory. How much fun it would’ve been to get to eat the candy growing on trees, to take a boat ride in the chocolate river, and to try the gum that tastes like a three-course meal? Well, maybe not the last one.
Either way, Willy Wonka’s factory was a dream place for many kids, and may we add, many adults as well!

The Unknown, the villain at the viral Willy Wonka Experience is getting their own horror movie, because of course they are. More on the story below.
Only a week after Glasgow’s Willy Wonka Experience went viral, a new horror film centred on The Unknown has been announced. The film will simply be titled The Unknown and will follow a couple who have recently lost their son.
Photos from the experience, including one of The Unknown, spread online like wildfire after the police were reportedly called to the event which left children in tears and parents furious. The event was marketed with highly misleading, AI-generated artwork. The company behind the event, House of Illuminati, have promised full refunds to visitors.
The news of the new horror film comes via Bloody Disgusting, who report that Scotland-based production company Kaledonia Pictures is working on it. The Unknown has bugger all to do...

There wasn’t anything sweet about the unofficial “Wonka” pop-up event in Glasgow, Scotland, and now, that real-life cursed event is getting a horror-movie adaptation. (Sans Timothée Chalamet).
The now-infamous “Willy Wonka Experience” fascinated the internet in early March 2024 after an AI-generated advertisement wildly misled attendees. Photos of the real experience — a barely-decorated warehouse manned by costumed performers dressed in “Wonka” adjacent attire (and that’s being generous) — went viral. Tickets cost £35 (about $44 Usd) per person for the experience, which has been deemed the Fyre Festival of 2024. Ticketgoers demanded refunds from the event, and some even called the police. The event was shut down within one day of its opening.
A breakout character from the botched experience was called The Unknown; the character is now the basis of an upcoming indie horror film. The opportunistic film is set at Kaledonia Pictures and is going into production for a late 2024 release,...

Timothée Chalamet is by far one of the most promising young actors working in Hollywood today, after his standout performances in films like Call Me By Your Name, Little Women, and Dune. The actor has become one of the biggest stars in the film industry and after his recent performance as Duke Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Two, he is sure to become a household name worldwide. So, if you love Chalamet’s performances here are the best movies Chalamet has appeared in and just to warn you, we didn’t include Interstellar in this list because Chalamet’s role in Christopher Nolan was not that big or significant.

Director Paul King is best known for delivering the first two installments of the charming and delightful "Paddington" franchise. Sadly, he won't be at the helm of "Paddington in Peru," the forthcoming third film in the series, but that's because he opted to step into the sweet world of Roald Dahl with "Wonka." The origin story of the famed chocolatier from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" has become one of the biggest box office hits of 2023, and King is already working on potential ideas for a "Wonka" sequel. But 20 years ago, Paul King was just a scrappy young filmmaker cutting his teeth on a cult favorite comedy series across the pond.

After arriving on the big screen just in time to take advantage of the holiday box office rush last year, "Wonka" is a certified hit. Not only did the movie from "Paddington" director Paul King please critics and audiences alike, but it's raked in over $608 million at the worldwide box office. In fact, it has managed to stay in the top 10 box office chart this whole time. Even as the movie is available on PVOD at home and poised to hit physical media on February 27, "Wonka" is still playing on over 2,300 screens.

The family film co-stars Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key and Hugh Grant as an Oompa-Loompa.
“Wonka” has surpassed $600 million at the global box office, on an estimated $125 million budget. The film is director Paul King’s highest-grossing film, surpassing 2014’s “Paddington” and its 2017 sequel. It is Chalamet’s biggest movie at the international box office, although Warner Bros.’s “Dune: Part Two,” which opens March 1, could surpass “Wonka.”
The “Wonka” cast also includes Calah Lane, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Natasha Rothwell,...

10 weekends into its ridiculously impressive theatrical run, "Wonka" has passed a massive milestone. Director Paul King's prequel to Roald Dahl's beloved novel "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" has charmed its way past the $600 million mark at the global box office. Its run is undoubtedly nearing its end, but this proved to be a much bigger hit than anyone expected it to be. In the process, it helped get movie theaters through an incredibly difficult time. Plus, it sets Timothée Chalamet up for one heck of a year, as "Dune: Part 2" is just around the corner.
"Wonka" pulled in another $3.5 million this past weekend, putting it at number six on the charts even as both "Bob Marley: One Love" and "Madame Web" arrived in theaters. The chocolate-soaked musical actually posted an increase over its previous weekend haul of $3 million. Not bad for a movie that came out in mid-December.

“Wonka” has notched another sweet box office benchmark. The fantasy musical, starring Timothée Chalamet as the eccentric, fictional chocolatier, has crossed $600 million globally.
After 10 weeks on the big screen, “Wonka” has generated $210 million in North America and $395.1 million internationally for a towering worldwide tally of $604.9 million. It’s a notable milestone because only seven films that were released in 2023 managed to surpass the $600 million mark.
Warner Bros. backed the $125 million-budgeted film, which has impressively remained in the top five on domestic box office charts since its debut in December. Chalamet’s star power, as well as brand recognition from Roald Dahl’s seminal novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” the 1971 film adaptation with Gene Wilder, and the 2005 reboot starring Johnny Depp, helped “Wonka” endure at the box office.
