Don’t let the bed bugs bite, you wonderful old Building and Loan! James Stewart – or rather the voice of James Stewart – will get the artificial intelligence treatment through Calm, the popular meditation and sleep app. With approval from the actor’s estate, James Stewart will read, appropriately enough, “It’s a Wonderful Sleep Story” just in time for the holidays.
As per Variety, the Mr. Smith Goes to Washington star introduces his story with, “Well, hello. I’m James Stewart. But, well, you can call me Jimmy…Tonight, I’m going to tell you a story. It’s a heartwarming story of love, of loss, of hope and of joy. But most of all, it’s a wonderful sleep story.” These words, we have to assume, were never uttered by Stewart in his 89 years on this planet – yet could very well be the first introduction that some have to the legendary actor.

Recently we had the pleasure of taking a deep dive into a personal all time favorite with Bill Paxton’s Frailty and then sitting down to speak with David Kirschner, successful producer of everything from Frailty to the Child’s Play franchise to Hocus Pocus and An American Tail: Fievel Goes West.
David graced us with some incredible stories about the making of Frailty; he told us about James Cameron’s “massive” contribution to the film and of the death threats he received before the film was even released. We even touched on the chances of Frailty going to 4K and the possibility of a Chucky-free Charles Lee Ray Child’s Play prequel starring Brad Dourif.
But most importantly, David shares his fascinating and heartfelt stories of working with the one of a kind Bill Paxton as they created Frailty.
Bloody Disgusting: Thank you for taking the time to do this.

The hits keep on coming from your friendly neighborhood streaming giant, Netflix, which announced a fresh round of titles hitting the airwaves next month. Ranging from never-before-streamed comedy specials to historical classics to critically acclaimed kids’ films, these titles are sure to keep you cooped up and entertained throughout mud season. Enjoy.
1. “Richard Pryor: Live & Smokin'” (available April 1)
The first of only four specials ever filmed by the legendary comedian, this 45-minute stand-up set from 1978 was released on VHS in 1985 and has never been available to stream before (legally). Almost universally revered by comedians of all stripes, this special has stayed relatively obscure due to an uneven performance from Pryor. Still, you can learn from a genius even on a bad day.
2. “Across the Universe” (available April 1)
Even Rachel Wood and Jim Sturgess anchor this visually enchanting Beatles movie musical from visionary Broadway director and choreographer Julie Taymor (“Titus...

Just in time for the July 4th holiday, 20th Century Fox has debuted a new TV spot for next week's release of the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" sequel. Frankly it's the best TV spot I've seen for any film in a long time and well worth watching.

Since a child’s mind exists at its most impressionable stage, what better time to start your son or daughter on a path to horror fandom? No, I’m not suggesting you subject your offspring to terrifying endeavors like The Exorcist or Child’s Play right off the bat (unless you want to deal with those emotional scars the rest of their lives), but I Am encouraging horror loving parents to pass on the gift of spook. Get ‘em while they’re young, while their minds can still be molded and shaped to accept everything the horror genre has to offer, and then let them adventure off down their own twisted cinematic paths. Or just disown them when they run away screaming.
I’m kidding of course – children sometimes need time to grow into their passions, especially ones who would close their eyes during An American Tail: Fievel Goes West...

Here’s an example of why Brooklyn Nine-Nine earned that Golden Globe nomination: The Fox comedy is back Tuesday with The Office’s Craig Robinson guest starring as Doug Judy, one of Rosa’s perps who has information about the “Pontiac Bandit,” a car thief that Jake (Andy Samberg) has been tracking for years. Doug also has a laserdisc collection that leads to an excellent moment for fans of An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. Watch an exclusive clip below.

The talking pet genre has always had a loyal following, from Cats & Dogs to An American Tail: Fievel Goes West to the mecca, Homeward Bound. But it’s almost always been a purely family, kids friendly genre. That is, until now. Last week, Mandalay Vision and Vertigo Entertainment announced plans to produce Marjane Satrapi’s psychological thriller The Voices from a script by Paranormal Activity’s Michael R. Perry. Satrapi’s name will sound familiar to fans of the Oscar nominated animated film Persepolis, a movie she co-directed and wrote from her own comic book.
But that’s enough from me, let me direct you to the press release that details all the goodies:
Los Angeles, CA-August 5, 2012- Mandalay Vision announced today they will produce, along with Vertigo Entertainment, Academy Award-nominated director Marjane Satrapi’s psychological thriller “The Voices,” which she will direct from an original script by Michael R. Perry...

[1] The endearingly geeky, impressively fast-talking Fine Brothers are at it again. The same guys who managed to sum up nearly five decades of Doctor Who [2] in six minutes and every single Best Picture winner through 2009 [3] in five minutes have now released "50 Animated Spoilers in 3 Minutes." (Spoiler alert: They actually make it in two minutes and thirty seconds. But I guess "50 Animated Spoilers in 2 Minutes and 30 Seconds" just doesn't have the same ring to it.) The Fines don't discriminate when it comes to ruining endings -- the video touches upon everything from enduring childhood classics like An American Tail and adult-oriented favorites like South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut to long-forgotten endeavors like Fluppy Dogs. Watch the video after the jump. If you're wondering why no Disney classics were included in "50 Animated Spoilers," it's because the Fine Brothers have already put out a whole other video containing "50 Disney Spoilers in 3 Minutes.

Though at times it’s easy to forget, there were animated films in the 80s and 90s that didn’t come from Disney. Remember The Land Before Time? An American Tail: Fievel Goes West? Among this generation of non-Disney films was All Dogs Go to Heaven, a pseudo-musical that had some of the necessary charm and some great animation, but ultimately couldn’t live up to Disney standards. This tale of two dogs and the little girl who could talk to animals was dragged down by miscast parts which led to some miserable songs. Looking back on it all, it seems that the title is more memorable than the film itself.

From Image Movers Digital (A Christmas Carol, Polar Express) comes Mars Needs Moms, and adaptation of Berkeley Breathed‘s book. The film is directed by one of my favorite animators growing up, Simon Wells (An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story, Balto, The Prince of Egypt), and feature voice acting by Seth Green, Joan Cusack and Dan Fogler.
We brought you the first trailer, and now Apple has premiered the snappier second one. While I’m not expecting much – and I’m certainly not the demographic – this could be a decent family film, based on Image Movers involvement and a few clever jokes in the trailer. Check it out below.
Synopsis:
Take out the trash, eat your broccoli–who needs moms, anyway? Nine-year-old Milo (Seth Green) finds out just how much he needs his mom (Joan Cusack) when she’s nabbed by Martians who...

Moms need a little space. After that brilliant tagline (and poster), we now have the first trailer for Disney’s upcoming kiddie animation Mars Needs Moms. From Image Movers Digital, the team that brought you A Christmas Carol and Polar Express, comes this adaptation of Berkeley Breathed‘s book. The animation looks a bit plain, and this is definitely for children, but it looks like there will be a little something else for those not in that age-group. Check out the trailer below via Yahoo.
Mars Needs Moms hits theaters March 11th, 2011.

Simon Wells, director of Disney’s forthcoming performance capture animation Mars Needs Moms, has The Prince of Egypt and An American Tail: Fievel Goes West to his name as well as his work bringing his great-grandfather’s story to the big screen with 2002′s The Time Machine.
Based on the book by Berkeley Breathed and starring Seth Green, Joan Cusack Elisabeth Harnois and Dan Fogler, it is no great surprise to note that master of all things Perm-Cap, Robert Zemeckis, is involved with this one and a new poster has been let out into the wild.
This story’s synopsis should explain everything,
Milo doesn’t get it: What’s the big deal about moms? They’re just slavedriving broccoli bullies. Yet they are worshipped the world over! Perhaps even the galaxy over—because here come Martians and they’re after one thing only: moms. Milo’s mom in particular.

It was an 'everybody wins!' weekend at the box office, as the openers all performed at or above expectations and the holdovers didn't quite crash as badly as expected. First off, Universal scored its first probable domestic blockbuster since The Bourne Ultimatum three years ago, and its first animation smash since, I dunno, An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, with Despicable Me. Opening with $60.1 million, the film had the fifteenth-largest opening weekend for an animated feature ever. It is also the first $60 million+ opening for a cartoon not released by Pixar, Dreamworks, or Fox (the second Ice Age picture and The Simpsons Movie). It is the ninth-largest opening for a non-sequel cartoon, with six of those openings coming from Pixar alone. Say what you will about the 3-D price-bump, but this is...

Comic-Con, July 23rd, 2009. Annie Award nominee David Bowers (“Flushed Away”) takes a seat. The helmer of “Astro Boy” has vast experience in animation which goes way back to the lovely “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” as well as “An American Tail: Fievel Goes West,” “Ferngully: The Last Rainforest,” “The Prince of Egypt” as well as the most recent “Shark Tale” starring Will Smith. We introduce ourselves to the friendly Mr. Bowers who has a great calmness about him. A comment is made on the look of the film being more western. Bowers talks about the visual style “You gotta remember in the original Astro Boy…Manga is not that hard anime look. It’s very cartoony. It’s actually further away from whatever you call hardcore Manga anime than the things that we’ve done. I think when you see the movie, the city for example is very Japanese. Metro City...
