Valerie McGowan is Boston-based independent social impact producer and executive producer. After six years working in nonprofits and community development, Valerie entered entertainment on the marketing campaign and premiere of Walden Media's The Giver. Subsequently, Valerie entered the independent film space as an Executive Producer of Step which won the 2017 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Award. She also produced documentary Netflix vs. the World based on Gina Keating's best-selling book and top-ranked podcast. Valerie has contributed to numerous marketing teams as a strategist and content creator and with a focus on partnerships with foundations and nonprofit organizations.
Her company, Birchwood Consulting, focuses on creating and executing grassroots engagement and impact marketing for films and documentaries. Her dedication to making films and television that foster discussion and motivate people to action has resulted in Anora Entertainment, a woman-led, ethically-driven production company. Anora is Gaelic for 'honor' and integrity in one's beliefs and actions which are guiding principles as they seek to advocate for people in front of and behind the camera.
