Going viral has its pros and cons, but for Caitlin Upton it was a curse. Upton was a Miss Teen USA contestant in 2007, but will most likely always be known as the 18-year-old from South Carolina who badly fumbled her answer about education in America. When asked why some Americans couldn't identify their home country on a map, Upton stumbled and said it was because there weren't enough maps to go around...among other reasons. Footage of her answer quickly spread across the Internet, which caused her to be harshly bullied for years. "I lost a lot of close friends over it—people I'd been friends with since I was 10, people I grew up playing soccer with. One group of girls took me to this...

Not since Lauren Caitlin Upton's mangled response in 2007's Miss Teen USA competition has a finalist's answer in a pageant picked up traction like it did on Sunday night. With six finalists remaining in Las Vegas's Miss USA competition, it was Miss Utah Marissa Powell's turn to answer a question that could make or break her chances of winning the crown. "A recent report shows that in 40 percent of American families with children, women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men," announced one of the judges, NeNe Leakes. "What does this say about society?...

It would make sense for beauty pageant contestants to look up to contestants from past pageants. They can look to them for inspiration on poise, presentation and even how they handle the question-and-answer portion. That said, they probably shouldn't be looking to Miss Teen South Carolina 2007, Caitlin Upton -- she of the infamous "the Iraq everywhere like such as..." And yet, Miss Utah seemed to be channeling Upton when she answered a question on "The 2013 Miss USA Pageant."
Marissa Powell, 21-years old, was powering her way through the competition when she hit a major roadblock. She was asked about how women are continuing to earn less than men in America, and what she thinks that means for our society.
"How to create jobs right now, that is the biggest problem right now, and I think especially the men are seen as leaders of this and so we need to figure...

Only Tom Hanks could drop a filthy f-bomb on Good Morning America and have us find him more endearing. Maybe it’s that mustache? It’s very sweet in a dad way, very Mr. Belvedere on a long weekend. Maybe it’s because we know Hanks was trying to get into character to demonstrate his Cloud Atlas accent for host Elizabeth Vargas? “I want people to buy my f—ing…” Hanks growls. No, it’s because T. Hanks claps his hand over his mouth and bugs his eyes like a scandalized seven-year-old when he realizes his blunder. Don’t worry, Tom! We’ve heard (and seen) worse on-air celebrity gaffes. 10 of them, to be precise!

Beauty pageants are fun to watch, for a variety of reasons. But one of them definitely is waiting to see if one of the Top 5 contestants biffs her final question from the judges. Certainly, no one can ever top Miss Teen South Carolina 2007 Caitlin Upton's "such as the Iraq" answer, but we did get a fun one in the 2012 Miss USA pageant Sunday night (June 3).

And they are off! The 19th season of The Amazing Race sent eleven teams of two out on a racearoundtheworld for One! Million! Dollars! I had my vodka chilled and ready to go for my own personal Tar Drinking Game. You do a shot every time someone calls their teammate “babe,” you do a shot every time someone says they can't do a task, and every time someone says they're quitting the Race you do a double shot. When Brent and Caite were Racing a few seasons back I almost died of alcohol poisoning.

People of the world, you make it really hard for us to like you sometimes. Ok, so maybe that's a little harsh, but sometimes tough love is necessary, you know?
While endless attention is paid to those "Jersey Shore" kids and Lindsay Lohan, talented young actors are getting lost in the Hollywood shuffle, all because they refuse to get arrested for public intoxication and actually pay for the stuff they buy.
One actor we truly think deserves some more recognition? Aimee Teegarden, she of "Friday Night Lights" fame and star of Disney's new flick "Prom." Seriously, why isn't this girl a bigger star?! Well, we're now going to present you with five reasons you should start paying attention to her.
No. 5: She appeared on "90210's" first season and lived to tell the tale. That takes courage.

The internet is a-buzz Tuesday morning (March 5) because video has surfaced of model Kate Upton doing a very enthusiastic Dougie dance (in a low-cut top) at a Los Angeles Clippers game from a few nights ago.
Who is this girl and why should you care? She is an 18-year-old model from Michigan who recently graced the pages of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. At the launch party for the issue in Las Vegas, she was named "Rookie of the Year."
And lest her name gave you pause, she is not to be confused with Caitlin Upton, who was the Miss South Carolina "such as, maps, the Iraq, such as" girl.
To see more of Kate, check out her official website. You can definitely see more of Kate there.

Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of The Amazing Race - Episode 6.
The preview for this week’s episode of The Amazing Race teased a major meltdown by Luke at one of the tasks for this leg of the Race. Could I actually be that lucky? To have the ultimate Mama’s Boy eliminated on the same day as the North Carolina Tar Heels were bounced from the Ncaa Tournament? Let’s find out.
My Random Thoughts:
- In my first recap of the season, I said that I would be doing a season-long “Goth Count”, to see how often Kent and Vyxsin said the word “Goth.” Well, we’re six episodes into this season, and we still haven’t heard it yet, so I’m tossing it aside. Kent, I know you’re reading, and I tip my hat to you: your efforts to make...

Here is Sean Furfaro 's recap of The Amazing Race, Episode 8.
When I saw last week’s preview of the Double U-Turn coming up in this episode, I braced myself for the invariable whining and complaining from the team that gets U-Turned. As readers of my Amazing Race Recaps from previous seasons may remember, I am a big proponent of using the tools that are available to you to win the game. It’s the same concept as a stolen base in baseball…it’s not unethical or ‘dirty’ to do it, even though the name ‘stolen base’ itself is a connotation of wrongdoing.
In previous seasons, we’ve seen teams get riled up over being U-Turned, but if you’re not willing to use the U-Turn with only 5 teams left in the Race, then you don’t really want to win. As I stated last season when Brent and Caite U-Turned Carol and Brandi,...

This week’s episode of The Amazing Race, “We Should Have Brought Gloves and Butt Pads”, reminded us that competition on the race is a team effort more.
Despite individual challenges such as the Roadblocks, the ability to work with your teammate and know their strengths and weaknesses is as important as your own ability to carry the team.
Sure, sometimes what the race throws at a team and how that plays into their strengths and weaknesses has a large element of luck to it. This week’s Detour challenged teams to cruise down a snow track on a new Tech Sled or complete a tedious native tent build.
As Vicki said, “We’re more of a physical couple than mental” and their experience skiing and riding enabled them to nail the Sled course in one try and pass three teams in the process. Knowing they were a better physical...

When I heard that Brent and Caite were joining The Amazing Race, the first thing that came to my head was that thing Caite did during the Miss Teen USA pageant years back. I thought it'd be amusing to see her race. I thought Brent and Caite wouldn't last long, but I kept that opinion throughout the race--at least until the last two legs, when I realized that there's more to Brent and Caite than I thought.

Caite Upton and Brent Horne were surprised and unsurprised by Brandy's outburst at the Amazing Race finish. "[Brandy and Carol] need to get over the U-Turn and grow up. It's a game and it was over," Caite, 21, tells TVGuide.com. "But it's just like them to complain since that's what they did the whole Race." It was the girls' grouchy attitude — and not homophobia — that fueled the models' decision to U-Turn them, Caite, 21, says. See what else the two, who are no longer dating, have to say about their arch-enemies, why they weren't worried about Dan and Jordan's first-class move, and if Brent, 29, really had to pee that badly in Shanghai.

Daniel and Jordan Pious
Twenty-two-years old might seem awfully young to make a dream of a lifetime come true, but on Sunday's season finale of CBS' The Amazing Race that's exactly what Jordan Pious managed to do. When the Emmy Award-winning show kicked off its 16th season last February, Jordan immediately fulfilled part of his dream not just by competing on the show, but by doing so so with his older brother Daniel. With each subsequent leg of the racing taking Daniel and Jordan through countries including Chile, Argentina, Germany and Seychelles, the two Rhode Island natives played a solid, clean game that kept them out of the bottom for most of the race.
While the extraordinarily close brothers only managed two first place finishes the entire season, the second came when it mattered most — the final leg of the race which concluded in San Francisco. By finishing first and winning the million dollar prize,...

Amazing Race stars Caite Upton and Brent Horne have said that they stand behind their decision to U-Turn fellow contestants Brandy Snow and Carol Rosenfeld. The models, who finished in third place on Sunday night's season finale, told Digital Spy that they were satisfied with making Snow and Rosenfeld complete a second detour challenge on the leg which ended in their elimination. "I definitely stand behind my decision. Maybe the smarter move would have been to U-Turn the cowboys because they are a really strong team, but I really like the cowboys and they deserved to be there way more than Carol and Brandy," explained Upton. Horne added: "I definitely agree. No-one really outside of, I think, Jordan especially and maybe Dan really made a relationship with them. It became a battle of the brothers at the end of The Amazing Race 16, with the Rhode Island-bred Daniel, 25, and Jordan Pious, 23, edging out cowboys Jet and Cord for the $1 million — without any advantage from cutting in line at the airport. "We were in the same exact plane at the same exact time, all middle seats in three consecutive rows. Caite and Brent, who were first to get tickets, were in the row furthest from the front," Dan tells TVGuide.com. "If people want to be up-in-arms about cutting, I can understand that, but don't think that it affected the Race. ... And Cord did a good job of getting revenge and distracting me at the virtual challenge, so I guess we're even." It was, rather, the move up to first class that ensured the Piouses a lead that they never relinquished. So how did they smooth-talk their way up front?...

Back in February, the 16th season of the Amazing Race began. Eleven teams took off from Los Angeles, California to compete in a million-dollar race around the planet. After twelve legs, the teams visited 24 cities in nine countries on five continents. With each leg becoming more intense than its predecessor, teams were picked off one by one by the cruel hand of fate until three remained. This week’s episode was the homestretch; the final push by these three teams for the grand prize, and the tensions ran as high as the cash prize.
The location for the final leg was San Francisco, California, a welcome sight to the beleaguered adventurers. Brent and Caite, the engaged models, were first to depart back home to the United States with instructions to locate Battery Godfrey, a retired military outpost adjacent to…

Dan and Jordan Pious won "The Amazing Race," but not without some controversy.
The brothers rode in First Class during the critical last leg of the race, which many viewers thought was against the rules. To set the record straight, a representative assures Zap2it, "They did not cheat."
During the 16th-season finale on Sunday (May 9), the siblings were on a plane with the other teams -- cowboys Jet and Cord and models Brent and Caite. But while everybody was sleeping en route from Shanghai to San Francisco, the brothers made their move.
They somehow finagled a way to sit in First Class, which meant they were nearer to the exit when everyone deplaned. Thus, they got the first cab out and then kept their lead from there all the way to the final pit stop, winning $1 million.

"The Amazing Race" wrapped up its 16th installment Sunday night with the kind of nail-biting finish that has won it seven consecutive Emmy Awards for best reality competition series. Battling brothers Jordan and Dan Pious crossed the finish line first to win the $1-million prize. At the final roadblock in San Francisco, the pair was quick to piece together a puzzle about memorable events over the first 11 legs of this race around the world. Their success left fan favorites cowboy brothers Jet and Cord McCoy in second place while one-time beauty queen and viral video sensation Caite Upton and her model beau Brent Horne had to settle for third spot. On the finale of The Amazing Race last night, the long shot came home to win, but luck certainly had nothing to do with Dan and Jordan being victorious.
Even though they were the second favorite on my pre-race predictions behind Jet and Cord, I downgraded them to being half as likely to win the race with just three teams left. My rationale was based more on the strength of their competition – Jet and Cord and Brent and Caite – than anything negative about Dan and Jordan.
Perhaps I was a little too influenced by the melt down that Dan had in the cab last week while trailing Louie and Michael. In my defense, it was an all-time classic melt down, but really that was the only poor reaction or bad decision the brothers had made in quite some time. Beyond that, they’ve been nothing but a strong team for...

This recap discusses who won last nignt's episode of The Amazing Race. Stop reading if you don't want to know the winner. This is your last chance!
Okay...
The gays won! The gays won! The gays won! Well, the gay won, and so did his brother as season 16 of The Amazing Race finished up in San Francisco last night. Things got dicey early when Jordan put his backpack in front of the sleeping cowboys in the ticketing line, but it was clear sailing once Dan talked him and Jordan into first class after they were on the plane.
Last week's promos played up a "twist" at the end of the race, which basically turned out to be nothing more than Brandy shouting at Caite while Carol prayed that the ground would open and swallow her so she wouldn't have to hear it anymore.
Super congrats to Dan and Jordan!

After a relatively weak season, The Amazing Race 16 delivered an enormously satisfying final episode: strong challenges, great drama, and best of all, an ugly meltdown from Caite Upton and Brent Horne, who were left in the dust where they belong. I'll even forgive a lame final memory challenge--the elimination order, that's it?--and the loss of a really strong team, cowboys Jet and Cord McCoy, for a slightly less impressive team, bros Dan and Jordan...

Dan and Jordan have been named the winners of the sixteenth season of The Amazing Race. The brothers triumphed over fellow finalists Caite and Brent, and Jet and Cord during last night's final episode of the CBS competition. "This has been the most incredible experience. There is no way I could ever have been here without my brother. This is my biggest dream come true, and he is the reason," said Jordan. "I'm thrilled that I did the race and it turned out to be an incredible experience," added Dan. "I made my little brother's dream come true." The teams had been instructed to fly more than 6,000 miles to San Francisco, CA, and find Battery Godfrey. Caite and Brent were the first to arrive at the airport, followed by Jet and Cord, and Dan and Jordan, who appeared to cut in the line ahead of Jet and Cord and book their tickets first,...

As the final three teams raced toward Phil Keoghan and the finish mat in Candlestick Park in tonight's Amazing Race finale, their former competitors cheered. One team, however, stood aside…and sneered. Yep, Team Sour Grapes Carol Rosenfeld and Brandy Snow are still harboring that grudge against "dumb" beauty queen Caite Upton for the U-turn that ultimately resulted in their elimination in episode nine. Did the Catfight at the Candlestick Corral spoil the victory celebration? Thanks to Caite, no. By shouting "I love you all!" to the crowd, the third-place finisher (with partner Brent Horne) defused the hostilities and allowed Dan and Jordan Pious to celebrate...

Brothers Daniel and Jordan Pious cashed in on the California gold rush on the finale of "The Amazing Race." As the first of the three final teams to burst through the tunnel at the San Francisco 49ers' stadium, the siblings from Barrington, Rhode Island won the $1 million prize. After scoring the winning touchdown in the hit CBS show's 16th season, Daniel said, "I love my little brother and it's so great knowing that I could help him make his number one dream come true." Jordan also cited their tight brotherhood for getting them to the finish line. "This race just really confirmed for us, the strength of our relationship and the bond that two brothers and best friends can have," he said. The other team showing brotherly love in the competition, cowboys Jet and Cord McCoy from Tupelo, Oklahoma were the runners-up. Caite Upton and Brent Horne from South Carolina took third.

Brothers Daniel and Jordan Pious have won the 16th season of "The Amazing Race" after travelling more than 40,000 miles, five continents and nine countries. The siblings hailing from Barrington, Rhode Island finished first in the last pit stop in San Francisco and took home the $1 million grand prize.
Smart moves and good memories contributed to Dan and Jordan's victory. In the airport, they put their backpacks behind Brent and Caite so that they cut the line and pushed Jet and Cord to number 3. Dan and Jordan also did well in the challenge to put several psychedelic posters of other racers in order of their eliminations and quickly advanced to the final pitstop, Candlestick Park.
Coming second were cowboy brothers Jet and Cord who had trouble in assembling the pictures, followed by the models.

Brothers Dan and Jordan Pious are the first-place "The Amazing Race 16" winners, finishing the competition in San Francisco, Calif.
On the season finale Sunday (May 9), Jordan finally achieves his dream of winning the reality show, thanks to the help of his brother Dan.
Although all three teams start out in Shanghai, they eventually end up on the same plane to San Francisco, thus putting everyone on equal footing once they hit stateside.
A few savvy moves put the siblings ahead, and they visit Frisco landmarks Battery Godfrey, Coit Tower, Lucas Film/Industrial Light & Magic, the Tonga Room and the Great American Music Hall before making it to their final pit stop at Candlestick Park.
Fan favorites, the Oklahoma cowboys Jet and Cord McCoy, come in second, leaving dating models Caite Upton and Brent Horne to finish in third.

Daniel and Jordan Pious slid into first place to win "The Amazing Race."The distinctly different siblings from Barrington, R.I., crossed the finish line first in San Francisco to take home the CBS reality series' $1 million grand prize. The brothers snaked to an early lead at the final leg's start, skipping cowboy brothers Jet and Cord McCoy from Tupelo, Okla., in line at the airport then slipping into the front of the plane."There's a million bucks at the other end, and I'm going after it," hissed Jordan. After the trek from Shanghai to the City by the Bay, the teams were tasked with ascending up the Coit Tower, navigating a virtual maze at visual effects company Industrial Light and Magic, lugging a giant trunk through the streets of San Francisco and assembling a puzzle of the previously eliminated teams from the around-the-world competition's 16th season.

"The Amazing Race 16" comes to a close and the three teams remaining couldn't be more different.
While we all have our favorites -- usually having more to do with personality and less to do with strategy -- the final leg of the race can often upset any advantages that may have previously existed. We'll see if the winning team will be determined by luck, skill or a cab driver's E-z tag.
First up are cowboys Jet and Cord. They're overwhelmingly good-natured and positive, which is incredibly refreshing in such a difficult race that would bring out the worst in us. They've also been strong competitors, keeping a level head and killing challenges such as when they had to balance the flagpoles on their foreheads. They also have the distinction of being the only team ever to have come in last in a non-elimination leg and then coming from behind to...

Louie and Michael started The Amazing Race with a bold claim: they'd finish first in every leg. Well, that didn't happen, and they struggled for most of the race, save for a couple of legs in Europe. But that's not how I remember the two of them. I'll perhaps remember them for the decisions they made during their run on the show: their controversial U-turns, their alliances, and their intentions.
I got to talk to the detectives early this week, where we discussed their U-turning Joe and Heidi, their attempted U-turning of Carol and Brandy, and their relationship with Brent and Caite.

Amazing Race eliminees Louie Stravato and Michael Naylor have insisted that the decision to U-Turn fellow contestants Brandy Snow and Carol Rosenfeld was a good strategy move. The women were forced to complete a second detour challenge earlier this season after competitors Brent Horne and Caite Upton decided to U-Turn them, leading to their elimination. Speaking to Digital Spy, Stravato said: "It was absolutely a great strategy move. Mike says it best." Naylor continued to say that he viewed Brandy and Carol as a "strong team in any city", explaining that they were "very well travelled" and "very intellectual". "They were very well travelled which was my main reason for wanting them out, I had nothing personal with (more)...

And then there were three.
Last night The Amazing Race field was whittled from four down to the final three that will race for the one million dollar prize and Louie and Michael were the odd team out. Although they were saddled with a two hour deficit on Dan and Jordan and a Speed Bump for finishing last the previous leg, neither factor did them in (well, at least not directly). Their inability to handle concentration challenges gave Dan and Jordan enough time to squeak ahead of the detectives.
I say that neither factors directly led to their demise because the two hour deficit that Louie and Michael had to overcome was as a result of Michael struggling with the puzzle last week. Ultimately it did not matter because Dan and Jordan burned that entire lead getting nowhere with the Garden Bridge clue to start the leg.

You Have No Idea How I Suffer For My, Um, Art
If there is any task I truly hate as the editor of AfterElton.com, it's having to deal with the Hot 100 every year. The sheer torture of having to check each and every one of your Hot 100 comments for the photos of hot guys you have posted is excruciating.
I can't tell you how much I dread having to— ooh, someone just a posted a new picture of Eddie Cibrian! And check out that one of Sendhil Ramamurthy! Smokin'!
Cibrian is Spanish for "sex on a stick"
Um, where was I? Anyway, I was going to share my Hot 100 pics this week, but it occurs to me that you guys are probably sick of hot guys by this point. In fact, I can sense you are hungering for something more intellectual, so today's column is devoted to a discussion of quantum mechanics.

As I watched this week’s episode of The Amazing Race, “I Feel Like I’m In, Like, Sicily,” the same thought kept popping into my head:
I don’t want any of these teams to lose.
Ok, perhaps that’s a bit of an exaggeration; I’d be fine with Caite and Brent going home. They’re a tad annoying, not too bright and do not really bring a lot to the table, at least not compared to the other three teams. However, on the scale of 1) how awful most couples are on the race and 2) how annoying most of the teams that seem to make the finals are, Brent and Caite are angels.
How entertaining is Brent and Caite’s competition? My man-crush on Jet and Cord is well documented, but who’s going to argue with the assertion that they are two of the nicest people in the world?...

After a two-week break, The Amazing Race 16 returned with all kinds of changes in Shanghai: an equalized start that found all four teams on the same plane, Brent and Caite being stupid, Jet and Cord checking in first, and yet another non-elimination leg. It was just all so completely different! Sigh. I'm grouchy about the non-elimination leg because: 1) the Speedbump tasks have been easy and not made much of a difference, and 2)...

China. The far east empire home to vast natural landscapes, bustling urban metropolises, and questionable civil liberties. But more important, China is the setting for The Amazing Race this week. Four teams remain; New England cops Louie & Michael, brothers Dan & Jordan, dating couple Brent & Caite, and Oklahoma cowboys Jet & Cord. Refreshed from the expulsion of season-long enemies Carol & Brandy, the four remaining teams began the leg in a very amicable manner. Nobody fought, backstabbed, or forged alliances. For a reality-competition program, this is uncharted territory....

(S16E10) With four teams remaining on 'The Amazing Race,' this season's almost a wrap. While the remaining teams aren't quite the teams I expected vying for the win, there's one aspect of the four teams which almost puts me in shock. There's only one woman left. That's a bit surprising in and of itself.
If memory serves, I don't think we've lost all of the women except one with eight contestants left in previous seasons. What's so shocking is that the single woman standing is Caite. Yipes! While she and Brent have their strong moments, they have more than their share of "Annoying Jackie" moments. Yeah, it's all about me.

Amazing Race contestants Brandy Snow and Carol Rosenfeld have admitted that they were "blindsided" by their U-Turn in last week's episode. The dating couple were eliminated from the competition on Sunday night after fellow racers Caite Upton and Brent Horne chose to U-Turn them following the detour challenge. Upton had previously accused the pair of being "mean" to her, although they denied it. Speaking to Digital Spy, Snow said: "I'm disappointed about it because the way the season has unfolded, it's really come to show less of a strategic and intelligent move, and more of a very personal, pretty hatred (more)...

Carol and Brandy is the sort of team that'd split opinion. Take it from me on this one: in the early legs of the race they came across as this annoying, snobbish team. In the later legs, however, they got their act together and became this focused team, and suddenly I don't mind seeing them far on the race. So, I'll admit, I felt a little bad when they got U-turned in Singapore on The Amazing Race last Sunday, and were consequently eliminated.
The couple were known for their many lines--witty, rude, choose your pick--and I got to experience just that when I talked to them early today. We talked about their early bickering, their opinion towards Brent and Caite, and that "valet parking" line in Los Angeles.
