The comedian and Broad City star, 34, was arrested on the misdemeanor charge at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Miami Police Department said in a tweet. The Miami Police did not immediately respond to People’s request for additional comment, but the Miami Herald reported Buress was booked into a Miami-Dade jail at 1:57 a.m. and posted bail shortly before 6 a.m.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: Who is the scariest serial killer on TV? You define “scary.” Old and current shows fair game.
Daniel Fienberg (@TheFienPrint), The Hollywood Reporter
Landry from “Friday Night Lights.”
Damian Holbrook (@damianholbrook), TV Guide Magazine
Ok, so he wasn’t necessarily a serial killer, but “Nip/Tuck’s” The Carver gave me a serious case of the scareds. After his first appearance near the end of Season 2, the porcelain-masked serial-slashing maniac who was all about slicing up hot people (because “beauty is a curse,” of course!) ran amok in Season 3 and the amount of series-regular characters he went after was kind of unprecedented. All of the leads...

Comedian Hannibal Buress couldn't make the red carpet at last night’s premiere of Spider-man: Homecoming so he decided to prank everyone by sending a lookalike in his place.
To rub it in even more Buress posted a screenshot of his impostor doing an interview during the red carpet livestream. He later tweeted in response to the prank, “It’s called extreme Fomo.” Fomo is online slang for “fear of missing out.”
The Buress doppelgänger is identified as Joe Carroll and posted on Instagram a photo saying he would stand-in as Burress. He said Buress told him to “crash the red carpet since he couldn’t make it.”
Entertainment Weekly also reported that Buress tweeted earlier Wednesday to pay $500 for a lookalike to attend an event in his place.
Buress plays a high school coach in Spider-man: Homecoming, it hits theaters on July 7.

Hannibal Buress just pulled one of the funniest red-carpet stunts — and it was all planned at the last minute.
Actor-director Joe Carroll was home Wednesday night when he got a funny email from Buress asking Carroll to stand in for him at Hollywood premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming, in which Buress stars.
“I’ve actually done body-double work for him before, but not on this capacity,” Carroll tells People. “I didn’t actually know what he wanted me to do for this until last minute. I was cooking dinner and he emailed me, and I had less than an hour to get ready.

It appears Hannibal Buress pulled a bizarre stunt at the Spider-Man: Homecoming premiere on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
In now deleted tweets, the 34-year-old comedian posted on Wednesday that he needed a lookalike "with solid comedic timing" for an event that night. He also asked for pictures and offered $500. At the premiere, a man identified as Buress posed on the red carpet and even did interviews, though clearly, he wasn't the real Buress.
"I'm out here at the @SpiderManMovie premiere," Buress, who plays Coach Wilson in the film, tweeted along with a screenshot of the man. "In theaters July 8th."

To paraphrase the great philosopher George Thorogood, the final eight participants in TVLine’s March BADness Bracket Tournament are b-b-b-b-bad to the bone.
And yet still, only one of them can be b-b-b-b-baddest.

That’s the way it goes when you’re dealing with monsters, madmen and maleficent mamas: They simply won’t rest ’til their rivals are snuggled up under dirt blankets — or they wind up six feet under themselves.
For the next few days, we’ll be asking you to winnow down the field to one ultimate villain.

True story: Just a few minutes into talking with The Following‘s James Purefoy about his new Sundance series Hap and Leonard, I manage to inadvertently call attention to his receding hairline.
In my defense, said hairline is the subject of the very first bit of dialogue in Hap and Leonard‘s series premiere (airing Wednesday at 10/9c)… and it’s conceivable that the series had pulled a Pete-on-Mad-Men and shaved Purefoy’s locks away for the part.
“Oh f—k no,” he says good-naturedly, laughing as I slowly die of embarrassment on the other end of the phone line.

The 21st century has seen the concept of the serial killer achieve near mythical potency in popular culture. Never have they been more charismatic, more intelligent, artistic, even poetic. They’re played by the best and brightest of the acting community, seeking to make them more than human, their insanity recast as some form of super-sanity designed to mesh better with the hopeless, deviant mess that the human condition has become.

Originally I thought we had Edgar Allan Poe to thank for the fear surrounding being buried alive, as he penned several stories around the macabre topic. Many movies have depicted the dark, claustrophobic terror as well, leaving us with long-lasting nightmares (think Ryan Reynolds in Buried — don’t worry, this one’s not a major spoiler). TV has touched on the subject, too. The Following‘s Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) started a cult of Poe-inspired killers and buried an FBI agent alive in one episode. The fear of being buried alive isn’t just dramatized fiction. Google the topic and you’ll find plenty of … Continue reading →

Farewell Ryan Hardy. The Following has left the building. Here's our review of its dizzying final two episodes...
This review contains spoilers.
3.14 Dead Or Alive & 3.15 The Reckoning
It's amazing to think of where The Following would have ended up going in its fourth season, but it looks as though it won't get the chance. Since the Lilly Gray season, I've had a vague idea in which Ryan Hardy becomes a killer, determined to hunt down the other killers. Of course the show manages to spring that on the viewing audience at the end of the third season, when it's already buried in some creepy basement under a serial killer's house. Still, it makes for a thrilling final episode, and even knowing that it's done (barring a reprieve from Netflix or Hulu, which I doubt will happen), the final moments of The Following on Fox offer a thrilling vision of what...

3.12 The Edge & 3.13 A Simple Trade
There's not a serial killer alive that can stop Ryan Hardy, no matter how skilled or how well-trained or how well-armed that person might be. There's only one thing that can kill Ryan Hardy, and that's the killing machine known as the Fox Network. The word came down this week that The Following has lost its following and will now be getting the death penalty, much as Joe Carroll did a few weeks ago. And like Joe, The Following will now live on only in our fond memories of Classic Poe and creepy masks and families of serial killers gone wild.

Now that Ryan has fallen off the wagon, he has gone further off the rails than ever before on The Following. We've seen him go rogue in the past, breaking the law to get answers and find Joe Carroll, but his obsession could cost him a lot more than just his sanity. In "The Edge," Ryan tracks down Theo's sister, Penny, to get answers but doesn't tell anyone about his solo interrogation at his apartment. And in "A Simple Trade," Max and Ryan team up to try and rescue Mike.

It turns out that Fox's Kevin Bacon TV show didn't have a big enough "following" to ensure a fourth season. The network has cancelled The Following after three seasons.
The current season of The Following picks up a year after former FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Bacon) and his team put serial killer and cult leader Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) back on death row. The rest of the cast includes Shawn Ashmore, Jessica Stroup, Michael Ealy, Sam Underwood, and Zuleikha Robinson.
Debuting in January 2013 to a very healthy 3.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.42 million total viewers. Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the numbers started dwindling downward. The season ended up averaging a 2.6 rating with 7.96 million.

The show follows Bacon as Ryan Hardy, an investigator hot on the heels of serial killers. The first two seasons had Hardy chasing James Purefoy’s Joe Carroll, while Season 3 saw the introduction of Michael Ealy as the new big bad. After Season 2, show writers Brett Mahoney and Alexi Hawley and director Marcos Siega were elevated to co-showrunners under the supervision of series creator Kevin Williamson. 3.11 Demons
For the bulk of this season of The Following, Ryan Hardy's been a good guy. A loyal boyfriend, a cooperative employee, a non-drinker who exercises regularly and who doesn't just start shooting at people for no good reason. Yawn. What's the fun in watching someone have a relatively stable relationship while fighting against the demons in his head? It's more fun to watch that hero become an antihero, giving into his demons, drinking secret bathroom vodka, ruining his life with his work, and having conversations with the apparition of his deceased nemesis/obsession. So yeah, Ryan Hardy is off the wagon in a big way, sleeping with waitresses, keeping vodka on the bedside table, and attempting to kill serial killers with machetes.

I don't know which is worse on The Following: an alive Joe Carroll taunting Ryan Hardy or a dead Joe Carroll haunting Ryan Hardy. Either way, Ryan is not in a good place right now after taking that first drink after Joe's execution. In this episode, "Demons," his rashness does possibly lead him a step closer to Theo, but not before almost jeopardizing the investigation yet again. Meanwhile, Theo and his sister seek out help to get back under the radar, and Daisy and Mark try to track down her laptop. And Tom, Max's boyfriend, is going to have a lot of explaining to do.

Live by the shocking death, die by the… well, you get the point.
Even though Fox’s The Following had — for the better part of a season — told us that convicted serial murderer Joe Carroll would meet his end via lethal injection, the character’s exit in Monday’s episode still came as a jolt to the Following faithful.
After all, he’d cheated a near-certain ending at least once before, right?

James Purefoy may no longer be part of The Following, but he’s hoping fans will follow him (I’m here all week, guys) to his new show. The actor, whose character on the Fox drama, Joe Carroll, was (spoiler alert) executed in this past Monday’s episode, has been cast in SundanceTV’s upcoming series Hap and Leonard. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Purefoy will star as Hap Collins, “a white working-class laborer who spent time in federal prison for refusing to be drafted and serve in the Vietnam War. Flash-forward to his 40s, and he’s barely scraping by picking roses on an East Texas plantation.” Starring opposite Purefoy in Hap and Leonard will be Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire), who will be playing Hap’s lifelong best friend, Leonard, “an openly gay, black Vietnam vet with anger issues going back to the uncle who shunned him for his sexual orientation,...

3.10 Evermore
This is what has been missing all along, and this is what I've been asking for since the beginning of the season. Joe and Ryan, the two most important characters on the show, trapped in a room together and forced to examine their codependent relationship in great depth and detail. Dreaming about one another, little conversations through glass windows or from behind bars, and finally, ten episodes into the show, we get something that actually matters between the two characters capable of holding our interest just through a conversation.
Joe, who we last saw making a shank out of a pair of sunglasses he pried off the dead body of Theo's mouthpiece, is facing his execution. The guards take him into the preparation room, he has a brief meeting with his lawyer,...

The Following is finally giving the audience the violence and Joe Vs Ryan conflict it wants in season 3...

3.8 Kill The Messenger
The Following has faced a bit of an uphill battle this season to catch viewer interest. I think one of the big problems, which I've discussed, is the lack of Joe versus Ryan. The first episode of the first season opened with those two squaring off, and that remains one of the most satisfying moments of the show's first season. We immediately get a look into their budding relationship, and we immediately are forced to choose sides while still getting to enjoy Joe's megalomania. The surprise of the random Followers, Roderick, Classic Poe, and all the rest of it just helped to add to the enjoyment of the ridiculous, brilliant, awesomely dumb show about murderers and FBI agents murdering one another.

For a season that promised not to focus on Joe Carroll, The Following season 3 is sure shaping up to be all about Joe Carroll. But I guess it wouldn't be The Following without some sort of connection to Joe, right? In "Kill the Messenger," Theo seeks out Joe Carroll for information on Strauss' secrets. Ryan, of course, is always two steps behind Theo, as his relationship with Gwen continues to be strained. Max works with Mike to try and track down Mark Gray. Meanwhile, Mark seeks out Daisy in Atlantic City.
