This article contains spoilers for Outer Range season 2.
Many shows in TV history have lived and died by their mysterious nature. Ongoing storylines in classics such as The X-Files, Lost, and Fringe had fans theorizing about main characters’ fates, the creative team’s intentions, or the deeper meaning of it all. Recently, shows such as From, Severance, and Yellowjackets have the same kind of devout following, and the same overarching enigmas that keep audiences coming back for answers.
When looking back at Outer Range’s first season, it’s easy to understand why the show was picked up for a second, and why the show had to come back – to unravel some of those riddles that season one left behind. While the sophomore season might have created more questions than answers, at least some of the puzzles have been solved. But don’t worry, if you’re still feeling out of the loop,...

Eco-horror isn’t a sub-genre that gets talked about a ton unfortunately. It can be anything from animals attacking due to their sudden craving of human flesh like Grizzly or even just due to man not putting enough respect on the name of nature like in Long Weekend. The hey day of these is undoubtedly the 70s with things like Prophecy, The Swarm, Piranha, Phase 4, and a few other standouts. While the output certainly slowed down, there are more than a few standouts in the late 90s and even 21st century. We can’t seem to stop screwing up the planet and as we do, we get reminded that the planet may just fight back in ways like what is shown in Day After Tomorrow or to a hilarious degree in The Happening. A unique one that failed to make its budget back, even with good reviews and scores, is...

We’ve ranked final girls and villainesses. We’ve remembered Fay Wray and honored Jamie Lee Curtis. We’ve ruminated on director Mary Lambert’s “Pet Sematary,” celebrated star Jess Weixler kicking the hell out of “Teeth,” and considered the limitations imposed by so-called sanity in “Carrie,” “Unsane,” and more psychological fright fests.
We’ve waxed poetic about our favorite horror movies and pestered genre goddesses of all kinds to do same with Kristen Connolly (“The Cabin in the Woods”), Leigh Janiak (“Fear Street”), Thora Birch (“Hocus Pocus”), Barbara Crampton (“Re-Animator”), Milly Shapiro (“Hereditary”), Essie Davis (“The Babadook”), and more weighing in. Heck, Cassandra Peterson — yes, the Elvira — even sat us down for a whole conversation picking apart what sets her Halloween-loving heart aflutter, in an interview that also explores the LGBTQ underpinnings of countless scary movies.

From haunted elevators and a centuries-old demon residing in a silent monastery to zombified warehouse workers and a mummified head, “Evil” ran the horror gamut in its terrific second season on Paramount+. Hailing from the deliciously bonkers minds of Robert King and Michelle King, the series’ sophomore run dialed up the insanity to hilarious, frightful new heights. After missing out on Emmy Awards attention for its debut season, could the series finally scare up its first nominations this year?
The show certainly deserves the recognition. No other series even attempts to strike its balance of philosophical and theological debate, jump scares, biting satire about modern technology and social media, and hilariously gross sight gags. But in Season 2, “Evil” also offered a searing indictment of contemporary American culture, policing and racism. In 1972, the ads for the late Peter Bogdanovich’s hilarious throwback “What’s Up, Doc?” promised, “It’s a screwball comedy. Remember those?” If Disney weren’t consigning “Deep Water” to its Hulu streaming service — the fate for most upcoming titles from the 20th Century and Searchlight shingles — they might well have posters that tease, “It’s an erotic thriller. Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas Navigate Sex, Infidelity and Murder in New ‘Deep Water’ Trailer (Video)
The official trailer for the new psychological thriller “Deep Water” has arrived, in which Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas play a married couple with some serious troubles.
The 20th Century Studios film is based on the novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith and hails from “Indecent Proposal,” “Fatal Attraction” and “9 1/2 Weeks” director Adrian Lyne. Affleck plays Vic, a husband who is becoming increasingly perturbed by his wife’s open philandering, while de Armas plays Vic’s flirtatious and cunning wife Melinda. Things take a bloody turn at a party when a body turns up in the pool.
The film boasts a screenplay by Zach Helm (“Stranger Than Fiction”) and “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson.
“Deep Water” was a bit in limbo after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, as the film was shot back in 2019 and its seriously R-rated nature is not exactly befitting a streaming service like Disney+.

This husband and wife will do anything not to be a cookie-cutter suburban couple.
The latest trailer for “Deep Water” shows Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas playing Vic and Melinda Allen, respectively, a seemingly perfect couple who dabble in dangerous mind games that may or may not lead to murder. When Vic is left watching Melinda flaunting extramarital relationships, one supposed lover winds up floating face-down in their pool.
“It’s always been a game,” Melinda warns her spouse. Well, anything to stave off domestic boredom.
And it turns out Vic just can’t get enough of Melinda’s intriguing dark side. “Why are you the only man who wants to stay with me?” Melinda asks, to which Vic can only assure her — and later, his friends — that Melinda constantly keeps him guessing, which seems to be the sexiest game of all.

Disney said Thursday that Deep Water, the 20th Century Studios erotic thriller starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas and directed by Adrian Lyne, has been pulled from the release schedule. It had been slated to hit theaters on January 14, 2022.
The studio did not give a reason for the move on the pic, which is the first movie from the Indecent Proposal and Fatal Attraction director in almost two decades and is based on the Patricia Highsmith novel. Deadline has reached out for comment.
Affleck and de Armas star as Vic and Melinda Van Allen, a married couple whose mind games with each other take a twisted turn when people around them start turning up dead. The couple staves off divorce in a loveless marriage by allowing each to take lovers, but it becomes messy as Highsmith exposed the surface façade of American suburban life.
Zack Helm and Sam Levinson adapted the book.

Kristen Bouchard, played by Katja Herbers, was as surprised by the Evil season 1 finale as any viewer. Something drew the normally cynical psychiatric trial expert to test her fate. The moment before she sees the acrid burn of sin on her flesh, she is relieved. Everything is normal for too short a moment. Evil season 2 will open on another side of a rabbit hole. The supernatural suspense drama already cast an all-seeing eye into demonic connections in international conspiracy. Their new unsolved mystery is an inner crime. A lone act. Did Kristen kill Orson LeRoux (Darren Pettie)? All the clues are there. Some may have been repressed, like a tell-tale blood stain no one wants to see, but malicious intent tends to rise to the surface. What could have possessed Kristen to do such a thing? Perhaps only the show’s resident therapist,...

Early marketing for Drew Goddard’s “The Cabin in the Woods” relished the tease, and the film’s trailers giddily laid out all manner of horror movie tropes while also hinting that much more was at stake than initially met the eye. “You think you know the story,” the film’s first trailer and official poster winked at potential viewers, while piling on horror movie cliche on top of horror movie cliche (did we mention that creepy cabin?).

2011’s The Cabin in the Woods is often ranked up there with the best comedy-horrors for its Scream-like deconstructive take on the tropes of the genre. Despite its critical acclaim and cult popularity, however, there’s never been a follow-up to it in the years since, even though it’s been known that the filmmakers were interested in doing a sequel.
While speaking to Fandango recently, director Drew Goddard revealed the reason why there hasn’t been a Cabin in the Woods 2 as yet. And it isn’t just a lack of free time, as Goddard has gone on to be involved with such movies as The Martian and the upcoming X-Force and screenwriter Joss Whedon is… well, Joss Whedon. It’s actually for the reason that they could never find a good enough story to make a second movie purposeful.
