Exclusive: A longtime passion project imagined by the late Steve McQueen has been revived.
Two decades after the iconic actor’s son Chad McQueen and family friend/Warner Bros exec Lance Sloan began development on the film Yucatan, Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer has been set as the screenwriter of the project that is now in early development at Netflix, we understand. Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey remain attached as producers under their Team Downey banner.
Both Netflix and Team Downey declined to comment.
McQueen’s vision involved a story about a renegade salvage expert’s search for Mayan treasure in the Yucatan Peninsula with him taking the lead. Details regarding where Dunnet-Alcocer will take the story are under wraps. Mexican writer Dunnet-Alcocer is working fresh with McQueen’s script, which was discovered years after his 1980 death as part of a collection of notebooks he left behind in a pair of trunks.

However, there are a large number of shows and movies confirmed for the service this year, and you can check out The Streamable’s most-anticipated among those below!

A new iteration of Fox‘s Prison Break is in the works at Hulu from Mayans M.C. creator Elgin James. James is writing and executive producing the series, per Deadline, marking his first project since Mayans M.C. ended earlier this year. The new series is described as a new chapter set within the world of the original series. Original characters Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), are not expected to be part of it. Both characters were central to the original series, which debuted in 2005, and the 2017 followup. The original Prison Break creative team is involved in this new chapter. Original series creator/executive producer Paul Scheuring and original executive producers Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz are all working with James. The series is part of James’ overall deal with 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios, which also served as the studio for the original show.

Dynamic, which began life as a distributor at Mipcom in 2013, has been pushing heavily into active development and production over recent years and is the lead production company behind Apple TV+ wine drama Drops of God. Its next set of scripted projects are at early development stage and don’t yet have networks attached.

Prime Video’s TV series about novelist Tom Clancy’s most famous character appears to have been the victim of some of the usual behind-the-scenes issues. Season 3 underwent not one, but two showrunner shakeups and then the world went into lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Not only that, but right before Jack Ryan season 1 even premiered, its star John Krasinski proved himself to be a capable horror director with A Quiet Place and naturally had to return to helm its sequel.
Prime Video doled out an advance order for Jack Ryan Season 3 back in February 2019, before season 2 even premiered. And that was pretty much the last we heard of Jack Ryan season 3 for awhile, outside of some brief casting announcements. Now, however, Prime Video has finally announced a release date for the globe-trotting CIA analyst’s third outing.

(This article contains some spoilers for season 2 of “Jack Ryan” on Amazon Prime Video)
Season 2 of Amazon’s “Jack Ryan” was very solid, but something was missing. A certain major character from season 1, and one of the main characters of the Tom Clancy novels about the character: Cathy Mueller (Abbie Cornish). It’s a strange omission, for numerous reasons. But even weirder is that season 2 doesn’t even acknowledge that this character was ever on the show.
Cathy was Jack Ryan’s (John Krasinski) love interest in the first season, just as she was in Tom Clancy’s novels. In the books, in fact, Cathy and Jack ended up getting married and having kids and all that — and she’s the First Lady when Jack is elected president. So pretty much everyone figured that Cathy, and thus Cornish as well, would be a mainstay of Amazon’s series.

“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” is changing showrunners again.
“Prison Break” creator Paul Scheuring, who was tapped to replace Carlton Cuse and run season 3 of the Amazon show less than three months ago, has stepped away from the role, Variety has confirmed.
Vaun Wilmott, who previously worked with Scheuring on “Prison Break” and recently served as a producer on “Star Trek: Discovery,” will be taking over showrunning duties for the forthcoming season.
Cuse left the series in March 2019, and “All The Money in the World” writer David Scarpa was originally in position to showrun season 3, according to sources, but reportedly exited the production soon after coming on board.
“Jack Ryan” stars John Krasinski as the titular CIA agent who, in the second season, ventures into a Venezuelan jungle to investigate an illegal arms deal. Cuse originally partnered with fellow “Lost” writer Roland to bring the Tom Clancy adaptation to the small screen.

Exclusive: Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring has left Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan less than three months after he joined the Amazon thriller drama series as executive producer and Season 3 showrunner. His No.2, Vaun Wilmott (Star Trek: Discovery) will take over day-to-day showrunner duties.
Scheuring is primarily known as a screenwriter and TV creator who lives in Northern California and not as a in-the-trenches showrunner. After giving it a try on Jack Ryan, he found it not to be a good fit and asked to e released, sources said.
In John Krasinski, Jack Ryan has a star and executive producer who is also an accomplished writer-director and has been very involved in running the show, including the making of key creative and staffing decisions. “Jack Ryan” season 2 could well be one of Amazon’s most-watched shows.
According to Nielsen measurements, the show’s sophomore outing has an average minute audience of over 4.6 million after seven days of delayed viewing, while its premiere episode drew 7.3 million viewers in the same metric over its first seven days of availability. Those numbers represent the largest for any Amazon show that Nielsen has measured.

Jack Ryan season 2 ends with few surprises, though it does lay the groundwork for some more recognizable stories.
Obviously, this article contains majors spoilers for Jack Ryan season 2.
The second season of Amazon’s Jack Ryan series with John Krasinski, which dropped a day early on Halloween, manages to address many of the viable complaints that critics levied at its first season -- while also injecting more emotional developments into an otherwise straight and narrow storyline. Krasinski’s take on Tom Clancy’s iconic character is a little bit more human this time around. Meanwhile, the latest plot that he and ex-boss James Greer (Wendell Pierce) find themselves unraveling is a bit more nuanced than season one’s global terrorist extravaganza.

Canadian actor Pablo Schreiber, best known for his roles in both “American Gods” and “Orange Is The New Black”, has been cast as The Master Chief in the highly-anticipated “Halo” tv series coming to Showtime.
The “Halo” TV series has been trying to get off the ground for quite some time now, as directors Neill Blomkamp, Paul Scheuring, and Ridley Scott have all tried and failed to make it happen, before Showtime and Amblin Television, the TV production company belonging to Steven Spielberg, took over in 2018.
The Master Chief from the “Halo” series is described as the most technologically advanced warrior on the Earth in the 26th century. The soldier represents humankind’s final hope against invasion by the Covenant, a powerful alliance of multiple alien races which seeks to sow destruction and chaos in the galaxy.
We now finally have some additional details about the upcoming project, as in...

Exclusive: There will be a change at the helm of Amazon’s thriller drama series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan for its recently ordered third season.
Carlton Cuse, who had been the main creative force behind reviving Paramount’s Jack Ryan franchise as a TV series, is stepping back from day-to-day showrunner duties after two seasons. He will remain involved as an executive producer on the action drama, starring and executive produced by John Krasinski. A search will be launched for a new showrunner.
Cuse is now expected to focus his attention on his Netflix series, Locke & Key, which he also shepherded to the screen, as well as his development under the big overall deal he has at ABC Studios, including two high-profile projects at the upcoming direct-to-consumer platform Disney+ as well as Atlas, a futuristic sci-fi Western he has in the works at Amazon with Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring.

Season one was released on August 31st, 2018. Prior to release, Amazon had already confirmed a second season for the political action thriller, which is executive produced by Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Graham Roland (Fringe). Exclusive: Paramount Pictures has optioned the screen rights to Blitzed, based on the provocative Norman Ohler non-fiction book that uncovers an untold aspect of what fueled the Nazi war machine during World War II, as seen through the eyes of Adolf Hitler’s personal physician—Dr. Theodor Morell. Morell’s position gave him direct access to the most evil figure in modern history, and the book made headlines for all of the drugs that were prescribed for Hitler and others in the Third Reich and its armies.
The book will be adapted by Paul Scheuring, best known for being the creator, writer and executive producer of Prison Break. Appian Way, Chris Donnelly, Rick Yorn and David Greenblatt will produce. Ohler will be executive producer. His bestselling book was translated into over 30 languages.
Scheuring is repped by CAA and Lbi.

Gerard Butler and Pablo Schreiber star in this off-the-boil Heat knock-off from writer-director Christian Gudegast, the screenwriter of London Has Fallen, here making his directing debut. However, while there are a handful of strong moments in the film, it ultimately falls short of its ambitions, thanks to some shoddy story-telling choices.
Set in present-day Los Angeles, the film centres on two grizzled hombres on either side of the law: swaggering cop “Big Nick” Flanagan (Gerard Butler) and criminal mastermind Ray Merrimen (Pablo Schreiber), whose opening gambit is to steal an empty armoured car in broad daylight. Gerard Butler’s team of tough-guy ’tecs take on a gang of audacious La outlaws in this warmed-up throwback to Heat
It’s been 23 years since Michael Mann’s landmark La crime opus Heat alchemised pulp into gleaming screen spectacle, raising the possibility an entire generation has gone unaware of the symbiotic cops-and-robbers trope. Writer-director Christian Gudegast here leaps into that demographic gap with a film that falls somewhere between Mann fan art and an extended upgrade of those late-90s knock-offs with titles such as City of Industry and Body Count.
The script, co-credited to Prison Break mastermind Paul Scheuring, outlines yet another mirrored face-off. On one side, jacked and tatted outlaws – headed by Orange is the New Black’s Pablo Schreiber – who have the audacity to steal an empty armoured van for reasons initially unclear; opposite them, jacked and tatted detectives, headed by all-drinkin’, ever-smokin’ bad boy Gerard Butler,...

Fox is not ready to say goodbye to the X-Men universe quite yet.
The network has confirmed that The Gifted will return for Season 2!
The news comes just days after the series posted new lows after the network opted to air the show on New Year's Day.
Fox confirmed the renewal at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
The Gifted Season 1 is averaging 3.3 million viewers and a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49, but the network claims the show surges 146 percent in delayed viewing to 8.3 million viewers.
It sure looks like the network is continuing to focus on other metrics when renewing the lower performing series.
At least fans will not be left hanging when The Gifted Season 1 comes to a close on January 15.
In addition to the exciting news for The Gifted, the network also confirmed when fans could expect New Girl to return to the air for its final season.

At the end of Prison Break season 5 everything seemed wrapped up. However fans, as always, were hungry for more. There were even little teases that another season could be happening.
Well now, thanks to Deadline, we know that a sixth season of Prison Break is officially in the works.
Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox, told the press at this week's TCA session that, “We’re developing a new iteration of Prison Break. We’re really excited. We’ll be happy to share when we have more. We definitely have one in development.”
While ratings for the fifth season weren't amazing, they did do very well in delayed viewing, and combined with Prison Break being a solid performer on Netflix, it's no wonder the series is coming back.

It’s becoming quite obvious that Fox is benefiting greatly from nostalgia as of late. Having recently revived classics such as The X-Files and 24 as limited engagements, it came as no surprise that Prison Break, one of the shows that helped make the serialized approach an industry standard, was given similar treatment.
Originally having premiered in 2005, Paul Scheuring’s nail-biter of a creation told the story of two brothers – Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) – who got caught up in a conspiracy that went straight to the top. Over the course of four seasons, they escaped from two separate prisons, evaded the feds and unraveled various sinister plots. Not only that, but it served as the breakout roles (pun intended) for the likes of Miller, Robert Knepper and several others, as well as later being adapted to a video game.

Did Michael Scofield get his happily ever after?
At the end of Tuesday's Prison Break finale, Michael (Wentworth Miller) revealed to his archnemesis, Jacob (Mark Feuerstein), that he has always been the one calling the shots -- successfully reframing Jacob for the murder he committed and originally framed Michael for.
It all worked out in the end, of course, with Michael reuniting with his love, Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies), and their son, Mike (Christian Michael Cooper), finally free of the shackles of prison. But did they finally achieve their happy ending -- one that has been years in the making?
