- Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was an American political figure, diplomat, and activist. She served as the first lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945, during her husband President Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms in office, making her the longest-serving first lady of the United States. Roosevelt served as United States Delegate to the United Nations General Assembly from 1945 to 1952. President Harry S. Truman later called her the "First Lady of the World" in tribute to her human rights achievements.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Bonitao
- Her uncle was Theodore Roosevelt, who served as the 26th President of the United States from 1901 to 1909. At the age of 10, Roosevelt was sent to an English boarding school near London following the death of his parents. She also enjoyed her education in various private schools. In 1905 she married her cousin Franklin D Roosevelt. But the young bride was not content with being a housewife: Roosevelt founded a private girls' school with two committed women, in which she taught herself. She also worked as executive director of a women's organization of the New York State Democratic Committee from 1924 to 1928, while her husband was the governor in the same state. When Franklin D. Roosevelt ran as a candidate for president in 1932, his wife made a significant contribution to his electoral success through her enduring support. After her husband took office in March 1933, the "First Lady of the USA" also became active in journalism, publishing her autobiographical notes "This is my Story" in numerous newspapers in 1937.
Roosevelt soon made a name for herself as a politically active journalist who also held a leading position in the "League of Female Voters in the State of New York." She also took on a senior role in the Office of Civil Defense in 1941. The death of her husband in 1945 did not deter her from further public engagements. From 1946 to 1952, Roosevelt was represented in the US delegation to the UN General Assembly. The committed lady also headed the UN Human Rights Commission from 1947 to 1951. To propagate her emancipatory political ideas, she not only became involved in several women's associations in the USA, but even traveled to Asia. Roosevelt in no way acknowledged the boundaries and obstacles set by the Cold War: in 1957, on a trip through the Soviet Union, she also had an encounter with the country's head of state and party, Nikita Khrushchev.
In 1960, the convinced democrat expressed herself extremely critically about the still noticeable entanglement of the German state and German society with National Socialism and about their ability and willingness to make a democratic new beginning.
Eleanor Roosevelt died on November 7, 1962 in New York. She left behind five children from her marriage to Franklin D. Roosevelt.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Christian_Wolfgang_Barth

- Quit the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) because they wouldn't allow contralto Marian Anderson to perform in Constitution Hall - the only venue large enough to accommodate the audience that Ms. Anderson would draw - because she was African-American. Mrs. Roosevelt then made arrangements for Miss Anderson's concert to be performed on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. More than 75,000 people attended.
- When Franklin D. Roosevelt was first elected, the Secret Service were not yet protecting the lives of the First Family. She was issued a gun for her own protection, and then they issued her a badge so she was legally allowed to carry the gun.
- Was given horrible medical advice, even for 1960s standards. When she first started feeling the affects of tuberculosis, she saw her doctors. They did the standard PPD test (which is still used today to diagnose TB). Even though she received a +PPD result (meaning she has or previously had TB), her doctors dismissed the findings and put her on steroids. She left the country for a goodwill tour of Europe. When she returned she was in worse health; the TB had taken over multiple organ systems. If she had been put on antibiotics that were available, she would have been cured. By giving her steroids her doctors compromised her immune system, and assisted the TB in becoming worse. Even if they had done nothing she would have been better off and had a better chance at survival. This was a huge medical blunder even for the standards of the day.
- She shares the distinction of tallest United States First Lady with Michelle Obama and Melania Trump. They are all 5 foot-11 inches tall.
- Her father was an alcoholic who tried his best to receive treatment to stop drinking, but he died when Eleanor was 10.
- Marriage and the upbringing of children in the home require as well-trained a mind and as well-disciplined a character as any other occupation that might be considered a career.
- Friendship with oneself is all important, because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else in the world.
- The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
- Courage is more exhilarating than fear and in the long run, it is easier. We do not have to become heroes over night. Just a step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it is not as dreadful as it appeared, discovering we have the strength stare it down.
